² as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

³ faa mbḭw munu ká i ɗaa ɗo mbeɗe Ŋgɛrɛwṵru mii: «Ɓaarì na, mini key nda̰w rɔɔ ì kɔ law kere Ŋgɛrɛmbay na ɓáy!»

³ if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.

⁴ Ì sóro ɓa lakun Ŋgɛrɛmbay, ɓe káʼa ɓa tisaw taa tusuɛke káʼa ɗo ɓáy kumnun ɓaŋguɔ ká nzoɓri vbu ɓo ɓisuy, ká Ŋgɛrɛwṵru naa ni ɗo ɓoɗ a kɔ ɓa fe kere ká ndaɗ ɓamba tasiri na.

⁵ yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁶ ɓay ká Ŋgɛrɛwṵru ɓaa ɗo ɓil mbeɗe ɓe na ɓaa mii:

⁶ Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

⁷ Tisawke ku na ɓa fe ká ndaɗ ɓamba tasiri ɓay tul ɓaarì ká ì ɗaa law-rì ɓo tul-e. Roo lɛ, nzoɓri ká i ɗaa law-ri ɓo tul-e ya na,

⁷ To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,

⁸ and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.

⁹ Roo lɛ, ɓaarì na ì ɓa sa̰w nzoɓri ká Ŋgɛrɛwṵru nan rì ɓa taa ɓe, í ɓa nzoɓ fe poyri ká ì mbi sùo-rì í ɗáake peɗ ha̰ ni ɓe káʼa ɓa mbay luye, í ɓa nzoɓ sa̰w puo ká taŋ kaɗ kaɗ, a í ɓa nzoɓri ká ì ɗo ɓoɗ ɓa taa ɓe. Ɓaarì na, ka nan rì ɓay haŋa rì ka-káa ɓay ká se tul bawda fe ɗáa kere ɓeri, ɓe káʼa ɗi rì a tina rì saa ɓil suŋ tilo ká ɗo nduŋ a ha rì kaw ɓil zaɗ taŋa taa ɓe ká ndaɗ ɓamba tasiri na.

⁹ But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;

¹⁰ Pola na, ì ɓa nzoɓ taa Ŋgɛrɛwṵru ya, a lɛ timbɛɗɛ key na, ì ɓa nzoɓ taa ɓeri. Pola na, Ŋgɛrɛwṵru kɔ nun síe ɓaarì ya, roo lɛ, timbɛɗɛ key na ka kɔ nun síe ɓaarì.

¹⁰ who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.

¹¹ Ɓaarì ká mì kɔ rì ɓa nzoɓ nun-i ká í ɓa nzoɓ varuri ká í kaw tul puo kḭri ɓoɗ ɓoɗ ká tusiri key na, ɓay ká mì ɓóke rì na ze ɗo key: ì kɔ́rɔ sùo-rì ɓay tul kɔn fe naysuori ká ɗaa ruy ká ɓil naysuo-rì ɓay ɓíɛ rì na.

¹¹ Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

¹² Ì se simseɗ kere ká sakra nzoɓri ká i tuu Ŋgɛrɛwṵru ya na. Ɓe nda̰w rɔɔ, zaɗka nzoɓri ɗaa ɓay ɓo tul-rì, í ɗi rì ɓa nzoɓ ɗáa ka̰ayari lɛ, ɓáy faa peɗ kere ɓaarì ká ì ɗaa ká i kɔ́kɔ na nda̰w rɔɔ, i písike Ŋgɛrɛwṵru ɓáy nam káʼa yḭ́i a ví ziŋ ri na ɓáy.

¹² having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.

¹³ Nzoɓ rewpuo ha̰a ha̰a hɔy kara, ì ɗiŋ tul-rì ká pol-ri ɓay tul Ŋgɛrɛmbay. Ì ɗiŋ tul-rì ká pol mbay luye ká re tul mbay ha̰wri,

¹⁴ or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.

¹⁵ ɓay ḭi lɛ, fe ká Ŋgɛrɛwṵru hii na ɓa haŋa rì ɗaa fe kereri ɓay mgbakake nzaa kɔ̀kɔri ɓáy nzoɓ law ŋgɔ-ŋgɔŋri ha ri kaw silili.

¹⁵ Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;

¹⁶ Ì se simseɗ ɓa nzoɓri ká ì maa ɓay káw ɓáy tul-rì, roo lɛ, kɔkɔ ká ì ha̰ simseɗ káw ɓáy tul ɓaarì na, ka ɗo munu ɓa badɔkɔ ká ɓay púɗke fe ɗáa ka̰aya ɓaarì ya. Ì se simseɗ kere ɓaŋguɔ munu ɓa koy peɗ Ŋgɛrɛwṵruri.

¹⁶ as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.

¹⁷ Ì ɗaa mbay ká ɓo tul nzoɓri riw bele í hii yṵ ɓaarì ká ɓil mbika law, í ɗaa vu mbom ɓo tul Ŋgɛrɛwṵru, a í ɗaa mbay ka ɓo tul mbay luye.

¹⁷ Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.

¹⁸ Ɓaarì leɗ káwri, i ɗiŋ tul-rì ká pol bǎa káw ɓaarì ɓáy ɗíŋ tul ká mgbɔr mgbɔr. Ì ɗiŋ tul-rì ká pol ɓari ká i ɓa nzoɓ law kere ká í ɗáa rì ɓáy kere ku hɔy ya, roo lɛ, ì ɗaa zíŋ ɓari ká law-ri ŋgɔŋ ɓamba kara nda̰w.

¹⁸ Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.

¹⁹ Zaɗka i ɗáa rì kɔ sɛkɛ fe gɔr hɔy taŋ ɓayke, rɔɔ ì sṵu law-rì ká ɗi ɓay tul Ŋgɛrɛwṵru lɛ, ɓa fe kere ká nun-ɛ.

¹⁹ For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.

²⁰ Ì kɔ, ɓaarì ká i nda rì ɓay tul fe ɗáa ka̰aya ɓaarì, rɔɔ ì sṵu law-rì ká ɗi na wa̰a, nzoɓ ve ze a písi rì lɛ? Roo lɛ, zaɗka ì kɔ sɛkɛ fe ɓay tul fe kere ká ì ɗaa, rɔɔ í sṵu law-rì ká ɗi lɛ, ɓa fe kere ká nun Ŋgɛrɛwṵru.

²⁰ For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.

²¹ Ɓe mini ze, Ŋgɛrɛwṵru ɗíke rì ɓayke, ɓay ḭi lɛ, *Krisi kḭ sùo-ɛ na kɔ sɛkɛ fe ɓay tul-rì, a pɔŋ ɗo ɓa fe mboro kḭ ha rì, ɓay haŋa rì mbi bol nduo ɓal-ɛ í ɗaa.

²¹ For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:

²² Ɓe na, ka ɗaa feya̰a ya, nzoɓ laa kúɗ ɓay ká nzi-ɛ ba mbḭw ya nda̰w.

²² who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;

²³ Zaɗka i raɗ ni na, ka yḭ̀i a raɗ ri ya. A zaɗka i ɗaa ni kɔ sɛkɛ fe na kara, ka yḭiŋra ɓáy ɓay ndaya ha ri ya nda̰w, roo lɛ, ka pɔŋ sùo-ɛ ɓo nduo Ŋgɛrɛwṵru ká kuŋ sal ɓay ɓáy zaɗɛ nzɛɗɛm.

²³ who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;

²⁴ A lɛ, ɓe Krisi kḭ sùo-ɛ na, ka fa̰a feya̰a naari a soɓ a huke ká tul puu say huɗ, ɓay haŋa ɓo, náa pɔ́ŋkeri nzaa nduo ɗoko ɓil feya̰a na, a náa séri simseɗ ká ɗo ɓáy zaɗɛ nzɛɗɛm ká nun Ŋgɛrɛwṵru. Ɓáy faa nṵɔri ká Krisi ziŋ na, ì vǎake ɓáy kere,

²⁴ who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.

²⁵ ɓay ḭi lɛ, pola na ì ɗo munu ɓa baɗuri ká i zekre kḭ kpɛrkɛ kpɛrkɛ, roo lɛ, timbɛɗɛ key na Ŋgɛrɛwṵru yḭiŋra rì vi luo Nzoɓ Hɔ́l Baɗuri ká ɓa nzoɓ kɔ́rɔ rì na.

²⁵ For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
