1 Forsothe these thre men leften of to answere Joob, for he semyde a iust man to hem.
1 Então, estes três homens cessaram de responder a Jó, porque ele era justo aos seus próprios olhos.
2 And Helyu, the sone of Barachel Buzites, of the kynrede of Ram, was wrooth, and hadde indignacioun; forsothe he was wrooth ayens Joob, for he seide hym silf to be iust bifor God.
2 E acendeu-se a ira de Eliú, filho de Baraquel, o buzita, da família de Rão; contra Jó se acendeu a sua ira, porque se justificava por si mesmo, mais do que por Deus.
3 Sotheli Helyu hadde indignacioun ayens the thre frendis of hym, for thei hadden not founde resonable answere, but oneli hadde condempned Joob.
3 Também contra os seus três amigos a sua ira se acendeu, porque eles não haviam achado resposta, e ainda assim haviam condenado Jó.
4 Therfor Helyu abood Joob spekynge, for thei, that spaken, weren eldere men.
4 Ora, Eliú esperou até que Jó terminasse de falar, porque eles eram mais velhos do que ele.
5 But whanne he hadde seyn, that thre men myyten not answere, he was wrooth greetly.
5 Quando Eliú viu que não havia resposta na boca destes três homens, então sua ira se acendeu.
6 And Helyu, the sone of Barachel Buzites, answeride, and seyde, Y am yongere in tyme, sotheli ye ben eldere; therfor with heed holdun doun Y dredde to schewe to you my sentence.
6 E Eliú, filho de Baraquel, o buzita, respondeu e disse: Eu sou jovem, e vós sois muito velhos; portanto, eu tive receio, e não ousei mostrar-lhes minha opinião.
7 For Y hopide that lengere age schulde speke, and that the multitude of yeeris schulden teche wisdom.
7 Eu disse: Os dias deveriam falar, e a multidão dos anos deveria ensinar a sabedoria.
8 But as Y se, spirit is in men, and the enspiryng `ether reuelacioun, of Almyyti God yyueth vndurstondyng.
8 Mas há um espírito no homem; e a inspiração do Todo-Poderoso lhes dá entendimento.
9 Men of long lijf ben not wise, and elde men vndurstonden not doom.
9 Os grandes homens não são sempre sábios, nem os velhos entendem julgamento.
10 Therfor Y schal seie, Here ye me, and Y also schal schewe my kunnyng to you.
10 Portanto, eu disse: Escutai-me. Eu também mostrarei minha opinião.
11 For Y abood youre wordis, Y herde youre prudence, as long as ye dispuytiden in youre wordis.
11 Eis que aguardei as vossas palavras; eu dei ouvidos às vossas razões, enquanto buscáveis o que dizer.
12 And as long as Y gesside you to seie ony thing, Y bihelde; but as Y se, `noon is of you, that may repreue Joob, and answere to hise wordis;
12 Sim, eu escutei a vós, e eis que não houve nenhum de vós que convencesse Jó, ou que respondesse suas palavras.
13 lest perauenture ye seien, We han founde wisdom; God, and not man, hath cast hym awei.
13 Para que não digais: Nós achamos sabedoria; Deus o derruba, não o homem.
14 Joob spak no thing to me, and Y not bi youre wordis schal answere hym.
14 Ora, ele não dirigiu suas palavras contra mim, nem eu lhe responderei com os vossos discursos.
15 Thei dredden, and answeriden no more, and token awei speche fro hem silf.
15 Eles estavam atônitos, não responderam mais, eles deixaram de falar.
16 Therfor for Y abood, and thei spaken not, thei stoden, and answeriden no more; also Y schal answere my part,
16 Quando eu esperara (pois eles não falavam, mas permaneciam imóveis, e não mais respondiam);
17 and Y schal schewe my kunnyng.
17 eu disse: Responderei também a minha parte, também mostrarei minha opinião.
18 For Y am ful of wordis, and the spirit of my wombe, `that is, mynde, constreyneth me.
18 Porque eu sou cheio de assunto; o espírito dentro de mim me constrange.
19 Lo! my wombe is as must with out `spigot, ether a ventyng, that brekith newe vessels.
19 Eis que minha barriga é como um vinho que não tem ventilação, pronta para arrebentar como novos odres.
20 Y schal speke, and brethe ayen a litil; Y schal opene my lippis, and Y schal answere.
20 Falarei, para que eu me refresque; eu abrirei os meus lábios, e responderei.
21 Y schal not take the persoone of man, and Y schal not make God euene to man.
21 Não permitam que eu, vos rogo, aceite a pessoa de qualquer homem, nem permitam que eu use de lisonjas para com um homem.
22 For Y woot not hou long Y schal abide, and if my Makere take me awei `after a litil tyme.
22 Porque eu não sei usar de lisonjas; se assim fizesse, meu Criador logo me tomaria.
