1 But, britheren, of tymes and momentis ye neden not that Y write to you.
1 Irmãos, no que se refere aos tempos e às épocas, não há necessidade de que eu lhes escreva.
2 For ye silf witen diligentli, that the dai of the Lord schal come, as a theef in the niyt.
2 Porque vocês sabem perfeitamente que o Dia do Senhor vem como ladrão à noite.
3 For whanne thei schulen seie pees is, and sikirnesse, thanne sudeyn deth schal come on hem, as sorewe to a womman that is with child, and thei schulen not scape.
3 Quando andarem dizendo: “Paz e segurança”, eis que lhes sobrevirá repentina destruição, como vêm as dores de parto à mulher que está para dar à luz; e de modo nenhum escaparão.
4 But, britheren, ye ben not in derknessis, that the ilke dai as a theef catche you.
4 Mas vocês, irmãos, não estão em trevas, para que esse Dia os apanhe de surpresa como ladrão.
5 For alle ye ben the sones of liyt, and sones of dai; we ben not of niyt, nether of derknessis.
5 Porque vocês todos são filhos da luz e filhos do dia; nós não somos da noite, nem das trevas.
6 Therfor slepe we not as othere; but wake we, and be we sobre.
6 Assim, pois, não durmamos como os demais; pelo contrário, vigiemos e sejamos sóbrios.
7 For thei that slepen, slepen in the niyt, and thei that ben drunkun, ben drunkun in the niyt.
7 Ora, os que dormem é de noite que dormem, e os que se embriagam é de noite que se embriagam.
8 But we that ben of the dai, ben sobre, clothid in the haburioun of feith and of charite, and in the helme of hope of heelthe.
8 Nós, porém, que somos do dia, sejamos sóbrios, revestindo-nos da couraça da fé e do amor e tomando como capacete a esperança da salvação.
9 For God puttide not vs in to wraththe, but in to the purchasing of heelthe bi oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that was deed for vs;
9 Porque Deus não nos destinou para a ira, mas para alcançar a salvação mediante nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
10 that whether we waken, whether we slepen, we lyue togidere with him.
10 que morreu por nós para que, quer vigiemos, quer durmamos, vivamos em união com ele.
11 For which thing comforte ye togidere, and edefie ye ech other, as ye doon.
11 Portanto, consolem uns aos outros e edifiquem-se mutuamente, como vocês têm feito até agora.
12 And, britheren, we preien you, that ye knowen hem that trauelen among you, and ben souereyns to you in the Lord, and techen you,
12 Irmãos, pedimos que vocês tenham em grande apreço os que trabalham entre vocês, que os presidem no Senhor e os admoestam.
13 that ye han hem more aboundantli in charyte; and for the werk of hem, haue ye pees with hem.
13 Tenham essas pessoas em máxima consideração, com amor, por causa do trabalho que realizam. Vivam em paz uns com os outros.
14 And, britheren, we preien you, repreue ye vnpesible men. Coumforte ye men of litil herte, resseyue ye sijke men, be ye pacient to alle men.
14 Também exortamos vocês, irmãos, a que admoestem os que vivem de forma desordenada, consolem os desanimados, amparem os fracos e sejam pacientes com todos.
15 Se ye, that no man yelde yuel for yuel to ony man; but euere more sue ye that that is good, ech to othere and to alle men.
15 Tenham cuidado para que ninguém retribua aos outros mal por mal; pelo contrário, procurem sempre o bem uns dos outros e o bem de todos.
16 Euere more ioye ye; without ceessing preye ye;
16 Estejam sempre alegres.
17 in alle thingis do ye thankyngis.
17 Orem sem cessar.
18 For this is the wille of God in Crist Jhesu, in alle you.
18 Em tudo, deem graças, porque esta é a vontade de Deus para vocês em Cristo Jesus.
19 Nyle ye quenche the spirit;
19 Não apaguem o Espírito.
20 nyle ye dispise prophecies.
20 Não desprezem as profecias.
21 But preue ye alle thingis, and holde ye that thing that is good.
21 Examinem todas as coisas, retenham o que é bom.
22 Absteyne you fro al yuel spice.
22 Abstenham-se de toda forma de mal.
23 And God hym silf of pees make you hooli bi alle thingis, that youre spirit be kept hool, and soule, and bodi, without pleynt, in the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
23 O mesmo Deus da paz os santifique em tudo. E que o espírito, a alma e o corpo de vocês sejam conservados íntegros e irrepreensíveis na vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
24 God is trewe, that clepide you, which also schal do.
24 Fiel é aquele que os chama, o qual também o fará.
25 Britheren, preye ye for vs.
25 Irmãos, orem também por nós.
26 Grete ye wel alle britheren in hooli cos.
26 Saúdem todos os irmãos com um beijo santo.
27 Y coniure you bi the Lord, that this pistle be red to alle hooli britheren.
27 Peço, com insistência, em nome do Senhor, que esta carta seja lida para todos os irmãos.
28 The grace of oure Lord Jhesu Crist be with you. Amen.
