1 Accordingly He went on board, and crossing over came to His own town.
1 Jesus entrou num barco e atravessou o mar até a cidade onde morava.
2 Here they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith Jesus said to the paralytic, »Take courage, my child; your sins are pardoned.«
2 Algumas pessoas lhe trouxeram um paralítico deitado numa maca. Ao ver a fé que eles tinham, Jesus disse ao paralítico: “Anime-se, filho! Seus pecados estão perdoados”.
3 »Such language is impious,« said some of the Scribes among themselves.
3 Alguns mestres da lei disseram a si mesmos: “Isso é blasfêmia!”.
4 Knowing their thoughts Jesus said, »Why are you cherishing evil thoughts in your hearts?
4 Jesus, percebendo o que pensavam, perguntou: “Por que vocês reagem com tanta maldade em seu coração?
5 Why, which is easier? –to say, `Your sins are pardoned,' or to say `Rise up and walk'?
5 O que é mais fácil dizer: ‘Seus pecados estão perdoados’ ou ‘Levante-se e ande’?
6 But, to prove to you that the Son of Man has authority on earth to pardon sins« –He then says to the paralytic, »Rise, and take up your bed and go home.«
6 Mas eu lhes mostrarei que o Filho do Homem tem autoridade na terra para perdoar pecados”. Então disse ao paralítico: “Levante-se, pegue sua maca e vá para casa”.
7 And he got up, and went off home.
7 O homem se levantou e foi para casa.
8 And the crowds were awe-struck when they saw it, and ascribed the glory to God who had entrusted such power to a man.
8 Ao ver isso, a multidão se encheu de temor e louvou a Deus por ele ter dado tal autoridade aos seres humanos.
9 Passing on thence Jesus saw a man called Matthew sitting at the Toll Office, and said to him, »Follow me.« And he arose, and followed Him.
9 Enquanto Jesus caminhava, viu um homem chamado Mateus sentado onde se coletavam impostos. “Siga-me”, disse-lhe Jesus, e Mateus se levantou e o seguiu.
10 And while He was reclining at table, a large number of tax-gathers and notorious sinners were of the party with Jesus and His disciples.
10 Mais tarde, na casa de Mateus, Jesus e seus discípulos estavam à mesa, acompanhados de um grande número de cobradores de impostos e pecadores.
11 The Pharisees noticed this, and they inquired of His disciples, »Why does your Teacher eat with the tax-gatherers and notorious sinners?«
11 Quando os fariseus viram isso, perguntaram aos discípulos: “Por que o seu mestre come com cobradores de impostos e pecadores?”.
12 He heard the question and replied, »It is not men in good health who require a doctor, but the sick.
12 Jesus ouviu o que disseram e respondeu: “As pessoas saudáveis não precisam de médico, mas sim os doentes”.
13 But go and learn what this means, `It is mercy that I desire, not sacrifice'; for I did not come to appeal to the righteous, but to sinners.«
13 E acrescentou: “Agora vão e aprendam o significado desta passagem das Escrituras: ‘Quero que demonstrem misericórdia, e não que ofereçam sacrifícios’. Pois não vim para chamar os justos, mas sim os pecadores”.
14 At that time John's disciples came and asked Jesus, »Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not?«
14 Os discípulos de João Batista foram a Jesus e lhe perguntaram: “Por que seus discípulos não têm o hábito de jejuar, como nós e os fariseus?”.
15 »Can the bridegroom's party mourn,« He replied, »as long as the bridegroom is with them? But other days will come (when the Bridegroom has been taken from them) and then they will fast.
15 Jesus respondeu: “Por acaso os convidados de um casamento ficam de luto enquanto festejam com o noivo? Um dia, porém, o noivo lhes será tirado, e então jejuarão.
16 No one ever mends an old cloak with a patch of newly woven cloth. Otherwise, the patch put on would tear away some of the old, and a worse hole would be made.
16 “Além disso, ninguém remendaria uma roupa velha usando pano novo. O pano rasgaria a roupa, deixando um buraco ainda maior.
17 Nor do people pour new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins would split, the wine would escape, and the skins be destroyed. But they put new wine into fresh skins, and both are saved.«
17 “E ninguém colocaria vinho novo em velhos recipientes de couro. O couro se arrebentaria, deixando vazar o vinho, e os recipientes velhos se estragariam. Vinho novo é guardado em recipientes novos, para que ambos se conservem”.
18 While He was thus speaking, a Ruler came up and profoundly bowing said, »My daughter is just dead; but come and put your hand upon her and she will return to life.«
18 Enquanto Jesus ainda falava, o líder da sinagoga local veio e se ajoelhou diante dele. “Minha filha acaba de morrer”, disse. “Mas, se o senhor vier e puser as mãos sobre ela, ela viverá.”
19 And Jesus rose and followed him, as did also His disciples.
19 Então Jesus e seus discípulos se levantaram e foram com ele.
20 But a woman who for twelve years had been afflicted with haemorrhage came behind Him and touched the tassel of His cloak;
20 Nesse instante, uma mulher que havia doze anos sofria de hemorragia se aproximou por trás dele e tocou na borda de seu manto,
21 for she said to herself, »If I but touch His cloak, I shall be cured.«
21 pois pensava: “Se eu apenas tocar em seu manto, serei curada”.
22 And Jesus turned and saw her, and said, »Take courage, daughter; your faith has cured you.« And the woman was restored to health from that moment.
22 Jesus se voltou e, quando a viu, disse: “Filha, anime-se! Sua fé a curou”. A partir daquele momento, a mulher ficou curada.
23 Entering the Ruler's house, Jesus saw the flute-players and the crowd loudly wailing,
23 Quando Jesus chegou à casa do líder da sinagoga, viu a multidão agitada e ouviu a música fúnebre.
24 and He said, »Go out of the room; the little girl is not dead, but asleep.« And they laughed at Him.
24 “Saiam daqui!”, disse ele. “A menina não está morta; está apenas dormindo.” Os que estavam ali riram dele.
25 When however the place was cleared of the crowd, Jesus went in, and on His taking the little girl by the hand, she rose up.
25 Depois que a multidão foi colocada para fora, Jesus entrou e tomou a menina pela mão, e ela se levantou.
26 And the report of this spread throughout all that district.
26 A notícia desse milagre se espalhou por toda a região.
27 As Jesus passed on, two blind men followed Him, shouting and saying, »Pity us, Son of David.«
27 Depois que Jesus saiu dali, dois cegos foram atrás dele, gritando: “Filho de Davi, tenha misericórdia de nós!”.
28 And when He had gone indoors, they came to Him. »Do you believe that I can do this?« He asked them. »Yes, Sir,« they replied.
28 Quando Jesus entrou em casa, os cegos se aproximaram, e ele lhes perguntou: “Vocês creem que eu posso fazê-los ver?”. “Sim, Senhor”, responderam eles.
29 So He touched their eyes and said, »According to your faith let it be to you.«
29 Ele tocou nos olhos dos dois e disse: “Seja feito conforme a sua fé”.
30 Then their eyes were opened. And assuming a stern tone Jesus said to them, »Be careful to let no one know.«
30 Então os olhos deles se abriram e puderam ver. Jesus os advertiu severamente: “Não contem a ninguém”.
31 But they went out and published His fame in all that district.
31 Eles, porém, saíram e espalharam sua fama por toda a região.
32 And as they were leaving His presence a dumb demoniac was brought to Him.
32 Quando partiram, foi levado a Jesus um homem que não conseguia falar porque estava possuído por um demônio.
33 When the demon was expelled, the dumb man could speak. And the crowds exclaimed in astonishment, »Never was such a thing seen in Israel.«
33 O demônio foi expulso e, em seguida, o homem começou a falar. As multidões ficaram admiradas. “Jamais aconteceu algo parecido em Israel!”, exclamavam.
34 But the Pharisees maintained, »It is by the power of the Prince of the demons that he drives out the demons.«
34 Os fariseus, contudo, disseram: “Ele expulsa demônios porque o príncipe dos demônios lhe dá poder”.
35 And Jesus continued His circuits through all the towns and the villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and infirmity.
35 Jesus andava por todas as cidades e todos os povoados da região, ensinando nas sinagogas, anunciando as boas-novas do reino e curando todo tipo de enfermidade e doença.
36 And when He saw the crowds He was touched with pity for them, because they were distressed and were fainting on the ground like sheep which have no shepherd.
36 Quando viu as multidões, teve compaixão delas, pois estavam confusas e desamparadas, como ovelhas sem pastor.
37 Then He said to His disciples, »The harvest is abundant, but the reapers are few;
37 Disse aos discípulos: “A colheita é grande, mas os trabalhadores são poucos.
38 therefore entreat the Owner of the Harvest to send out reapers into His fields.«
38 Orem ao Senhor da colheita; peçam que ele envie mais trabalhadores para seus campos”.
