1 At another time, when He went to the synagogue, there was a man there with one arm shrivelled up.
1 Em outra ocasião, Jesus entrou na sinagoga e notou que havia ali um homem com uma das mãos deformada.
2 They closely watched Him to see whether He would cure him on the Sabbath–so as to have a charge to bring against Him.
2 Os inimigos de Jesus o observavam atentamente. Se ele curasse a mão do homem, planejavam acusá-lo, pois era sábado.
3 »Come forward,« said He to the man with the shrivelled arm.
3 Jesus disse ao homem com a mão deformada: “Venha e fique diante de todos”.
4 Then He asked them, »Are we allowed to do good on the Sabbath, or to do evil? to save a life, or to destroy one?« They remained silent.
4 Em seguida, voltou-se para seus críticos e perguntou: “O que a lei permite fazer no sábado? O bem ou o mal? Salvar uma vida ou destruí-la?”. Eles ficaram em silêncio.
5 Grieved and indignant at the hardening of their hearts, He looked round on them with anger, and said to the man, »Stretch out your arm.« He stretched it out, and the arm was completely restored.
5 Jesus olhou para os que estavam ao seu redor, irado e muito triste pelo coração endurecido deles. Então disse ao homem: “Estenda a mão”. O homem estendeu a mão, e ela foi restaurada.
6 But no sooner had the Pharisees left the synagogue than they held a consultation with the Herodians against Jesus, to devise some means of destroying Him.
6 No mesmo instante, os fariseus saíram e se reuniram com os membros do partido de Herodes para tramar um modo de matá-lo.
7 Accordingly Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the Lake, and a vast crowd of people from Galilee followed Him;
7 Jesus saiu para o mar com seus discípulos, e uma grande multidão os seguiu. Vinham de todas as partes da Galileia, da Judeia,
8 and from Judaea and Jerusalem and Idumaea and from beyond the Jordan and from the district of Tyre and Sidon there came to Him a vast crowd, hearing of all that He was doing.
8 de Jerusalém, da Idumeia, do leste do rio Jordão e até de lugares distantes ao norte, como Tiro e Sidom. A notícia de seus milagres havia se espalhado para longe, e um grande número de pessoas vinha vê-lo.
9 So He gave directions to His disciples to keep a small boat in constant attendance on Him because of the throng–to prevent their crushing Him.
9 Jesus instruiu seus discípulos a prepararem um barco para evitar que a multidão o esmagasse.
10 For He had cured many of the people, so that all who had any ailments pressed upon Him, to touch Him.
10 Havia curado muitos naquele dia, e os enfermos se empurravam para chegar até ele e tocá-lo.
11 And the foul spirits, whenever they saw Him, threw themselves down at His feet, screaming out:»You are the Son of God.«
11 E, sempre que o viam, os espíritos impuros se atiravam no chão na frente dele e gritavam: “Você é o Filho de Deus!”.
12 But He many a time checked them, forbidding them to say who He was.
12 Jesus, porém, lhes dava ordens severas para que não revelassem quem ele era.
13 Then He went up the hill; and those whom He Himself chose He called, and they came to Him.
13 Depois, Jesus subiu a um monte e chamou aqueles que ele desejava que o acompanhassem, e eles foram.
14 He appointed twelve of them, that they might be with Him, and that He might also send them to proclaim His Message,
14 Escolheu doze e os chamou seus apóstolos, para que o seguissem e fossem enviados para anunciar sua mensagem,
15 with authority to expel the demons.
15 e lhes deu autoridade para expulsar demônios.
16 These twelve were Simon (to whom He gave the surname of Peter),
16 Estes foram os doze que ele escolheu: Simão, a quem ele chamou Pedro,
17 James the son of Zabdi and John the brother of James (these two He surnamed Boanerges, that is `Sons of Thunder'),
17 Tiago e João, filhos de Zebedeu, aos quais deu o nome de Boanerges, que significa “filhos do trovão”,
18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananaean,
18 André, Filipe, Bartolomeu, Mateus, Tomé, Tiago, filho de Alfeu, Tadeu, Simão, o cananeu,
19 and Judas Iscariot, the man who also betrayed Him.
19 Judas Iscariotes, que depois o traiu.
20 And He went into a house. But again the crowd assembled, so that there was no opportunity for them even to snatch a meal.
20 Certo dia, Jesus entrou numa casa, e as multidões começaram a se juntar outra vez. Logo, ele e seus discípulos não tinham tempo nem para comer.
21 Hearing of this, His relatives came to seize Him by force, for they said, »He is out of his mind.«
21 Quando os familiares de Jesus souberam o que estava acontecendo, tentaram impedi-lo de continuar. “Está fora de si”, diziam.
22 The Scribes, too, who had come down from Jerusalem said, »He has Baal-zebul in him; and it is by the power of the Prince of the demons that he expels the demons.«
22 Então os mestres da lei, que tinham vindo de Jerusalém, disseram: “Está possuído por Belzebu, príncipe dos demônios. É dele que recebe poder para expulsar demônios”.
23 So He called them to Him, and using figurative language He appealed to them, saying, »How is it possible for Satan to expel Satan?
23 Jesus os chamou e respondeu com uma comparação: “Como é possível Satanás expulsar Satanás?”, perguntou.
24 For if civil war breaks out in a kingdom, nothing can make that kingdom last;
24 “Um reino dividido internamente será destruído.
25 and if a family splits into parties, that family cannot continue.
25 Da mesma forma, uma família dividida contra si mesma se desintegrará.
26 So if Satan has risen in arms and has made war upon himself, stand he cannot, but meets his end.
26 E, se Satanás está dividido e luta contra si mesmo, não pode se manter de pé; está acabado.
27 Nay, no one can go into a strong man's house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.
27 Quem tem poder para entrar na casa de um homem forte e saquear seus bens? Somente alguém ainda mais forte, alguém capaz de amarrá-lo e saquear sua casa.
28 In solemn truth I tell you that all their sins may be pardoned to the sons of men, and all their blasphemies, however they may have blasphemed;
28 “Eu lhes digo a verdade: todo pecado e toda blasfêmia podem ser perdoados,
29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, he remains for ever unabsolved: he is guilty of a sin of the Ages.«
29 mas quem blasfemar contra o Espírito Santo jamais será perdoado. Esse é um pecado com consequências eternas.”
30 This was because they said, »He is possessed by a foul spirit.«
30 Ele disse isso porque afirmavam: “Está possuído por um espírito impuro”.
31 By this time His mother and His brothers arrive, and standing outside they send a message to Him to call Him.
31 Então a mãe e os irmãos de Jesus foram vê-lo. Ficaram do lado de fora e mandaram alguém avisá-lo para sair e falar com eles.
32 Now a crowd was sitting round Him; so they tell Him, »Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, inquiring for you.«
32 Havia muitas pessoas sentadas ao seu redor, e alguém disse: “Sua mãe e seus irmãos estão lá fora e o procuram”.
33 »Who are my mother and my brothers?« He replied.
33 Jesus respondeu: “Quem é minha mãe? Quem são meus irmãos?”.
34 And, fixing His eyes on the people who were sitting round Him in a circle, He said,
34 Então olhou para aqueles que estavam ao seu redor e disse: “Vejam, estes são minha mãe e meus irmãos.
35 »Here are my mother and my brothers. For wherever there is one who has been obedient to God, there is my brother –my sister– and my mother.«
35 Quem faz a vontade de Deus é meu irmão, minha irmã e minha mãe”.
