1 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led about by the Spirit in the Desert for forty days,
1 E Jesus, sendo cheio do Espírito Santo, voltou do Jordão, e foi conduzido pelo Espírito ao deserto,
2 tempted all the while by the Devil. During those days He ate nothing, and at the close of them He suffered from hunger.
2 sendo tentado pelo diabo durante quarenta dias. E naqueles dias ele não comeu nada; e terminados eles, teve fome.
3 Then the Devil said to Him, »If you are God's Son, tell this stone to become bread.«
3 E disse-lhe o diabo: Se tu és o Filho de Deus, ordena que esta pedra se transforme em pão.
4 »It is written,« replied Jesus, »`It is not on bread alone that a man shall live.'«
4 E Jesus lhe respondeu, dizendo: Está escrito: Que nem só de pão viverá o homem, mas de toda a palavra de Deus.
5 The Devil next led Him up and caused Him to see at a glance all the kingdoms of the world.
5 E o diabo, levando-o a um alto monte, mostrou-lhe em um instante todos os reinos do mundo.
6 And the Devil said to Him, »To you will I give all this authority and this splendour; for it has been handed over to me, and on whomsoever I will I bestow it.
6 E disse-lhe o diabo: Dar-te-ei todo este poder e a sua glória; porque foi entregue a mim, e o dou a quem eu quero.
7 If therefore you do homage to me, it shall all be yours.'
7 Portanto, se tu me adorares, tudo será teu.
8 Jesus answered him, »It is written, `To the Lord thy God thou shalt do homage, and to Him alone shalt thou render worship.'«
8 E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhe: Vai-te para trás de mim, Satanás; porque está escrito: Tu adorarás ao Senhor teu Deus, e só a ele tu servirás.
9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem and caused Him to stand on the roof of the Temple, and said to Him, »If you are God's Son, throw yourself down from here; for it is written,
9 E ele o trouxe para Jerusalém, e o colocou sobre o pináculo do templo, e disse-lhe: Se tu és o Filho de Deus, lança-te daqui para abaixo;
10 `He will give orders to His angels concerning thee, to guard thee safely;'
10 porque está escrito: Ele dará aos seus anjos ordem sobre ti, para te guardar;
11 and `On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest at any moment thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.'«
11 e eles te sustentarão em suas mãos, para que em algum momento o teu pé nunca tropeces numa pedra.
12 The reply of Jesus was, »It is said, `Thou shalt not put the Lord they God to the proof.'«
12 E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhe: Dito está: Tu não tentarás ao Senhor teu Deus.
13 So the Devil, having fully tried every kind of temptation on Him, left Him for a time.
13 E, acabando o diabo toda a tentação, ausentou-se dele por um tempo.
14 Then Jesus returned in the Spirit's power to Galilee; and His fame spread through all the adjacent districts.
14 E Jesus retornou para a Galileia no poder do Espírito, e ali a sua fama correu por toda a região ao redor.
15 And He proceeded to teach in their synagogues, winning praise from all.
15 E ele ensinava nas suas sinagogas, sendo glorificado por todos.
16 He came to Nazareth also, where He had been brought up; and, as was His custom, He went to the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.
16 E ele chegou a Nazaré, onde fora criado; e, segundo o seu costume, ele entrou na sinagoga no dia do shabat, e levantou-se para ler.
17 And there was handed to Him the book of the Prophet Isaiah, and, opening the book, He found the place where it was written,
17 E ali foi-lhe entregue o livro do profeta Isaías. E, tendo aberto o livro, achou o lugar em que estava escrito:
18 »The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor; He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners of war and recovery of sight to the blind: to send away free those whom tyranny has crushed,
18 O Espírito do Senhor está sobre mim, porque me ungiu para pregar o evangelho aos pobres; ele enviou-me para curar aos quebrantados de coração, para pregar libertação aos cativos e restauração da vista aos cegos, e para pôr em liberdade os oprimidos,
19 to proclaim the year of acceptance with the Lord.«
19 para pregar o ano aceitável do Senhor.
20 And rolling up the book, He returned it to the attendant, and sat down–to speak. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
20 E ele fechando o livro, o deu novamente ao ministro, e assentou-se. E os olhos de todos que estavam na sinagoga estavam fixos nele.
21 Then He proceeded to say to them, »To-day is this Scripture fulfilled in your hearing.«
21 E ele começou a dizer-lhes: Neste dia se cumpriu esta escritura em vossos ouvidos.
22 And they all spoke well of Him, wondering at the sweet words of kindness which fell from His lips, while they asked one another, »Is not this Joseph's son?«
22 E todos lhe davam testemunho, e se maravilhavam das palavras de graça que procediam de sua boca. E eles diziam: Não é este o filho de José?
23 »Doubtless,« said He, »you will quote to me the proverb, `Physician, cure yourself: all that we hear that you have done at Capernaum, do here also in your native place.'«
23 E ele lhes disse: Certamente me direis este provérbio: Médico, cura-te a ti mesmo; tudo o que nós temos ouvido do que tens feito em Cafarnaum, faze-o também aqui na tua terra.
24 »I tell you in solemn truth,« He added, »that no Prophet is welcomed among his own people.
24 E ele disse: Em verdade eu vos digo que: Nenhum profeta é aceito na sua própria terra.
25 But I tell you in truth that there was many a widow in Israel in the time of Elijah, when there was no rain for three years and six months and there came a severe famine over all the land;
25 Mas em verdade eu vos digo que muitas viúvas existiam em Israel nos dias de Elias, quando o céu se fechou por três anos e seis meses, e houve grande fome por toda a terra;
26 and yet to not one of them was Elijah sent: he was only sent to a widow at Zarephath in the Sidonian country.
26 mas a nenhuma delas Elias foi enviado, senão a Sarepta, uma cidade de Sidom, a uma mulher que era viúva.
27 And there was also many a leper in Israel in the time of the Prophet Elisha, and yet not one of them was cleansed, but Naaman the Syrian was.«
27 E muitos leprosos havia em Israel no tempo do profeta Eliseu, e nenhum deles foi purificado, senão Naamã, o sírio.
28 Then all in the synagogue, while listening to these words, were filled with fury.
28 E todos na sinagoga, ouvindo estas coisas, ficaram cheios de ira,
29 They rose, hurried Him outside the town, and brought Him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, to throw Him down the cliff;
29 e, levantando-se, expulsaram-no da cidade, e o levaram até o cume do monte em que a sua cidade estava edificada, para poderem precipitá-lo dali.
30 but He passed through the midst of them and went His way.
30 Mas ele, passando pelo meio deles, seguiu o seu caminho,
31 So He came down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, where He frequently taught the people on the Sabbath days.
31 e desceu a Cafarnaum, uma cidade da Galileia, e os ensinava nos dias do shabat.
32 And they were greatly impressed by His teaching, because He spoke with the language of authority.
32 E eles maravilharam-se da sua doutrina; porque a sua palavra era com poder.
33 But in the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of a foul demon. In a loud voice he cried out,
33 E na sinagoga havia um homem que tinha o espírito de um demônio imundo, e gritava em alta voz,
34 »Ha! Jesus the Nazarene, what have you to do with us? I know who you are–God's Holy One!«
34 dizendo: Deixa-nos sozinho; o que temos nós em comum contigo, ó Jesus de Nazaré? Vieste para nos destruir? Eu sei quem tu és: O Santo de Deus.
35 But Jesus rebuked the demon. »Silence!« He exclaimed; »come out of him.« Upon this, the demon hurled the man into the midst of them, and came out of him without doing him any harm.
35 E Jesus o repreendeu, dizendo: Cala-te, e sai dele! E quando o demônio o jogou no meio, saiu dele, e não o feriu.
36 All were astonished and awe-struck; and they asked one another, »What sort of language is this? For with authority and real power He gives orders to the foul spirits and they come out.«
36 E todos se admiraram, e falavam entre si, dizendo: Que palavra é esta? Pois com autoridade e poder ele ordena aos espíritos imundos, e eles saem.
37 And the talk about Him spread into every part of the neighbouring country.
37 E a sua fama percorria por todos os lugares ao redor daquela região.
38 Now when He rose and left the synagogue He went to Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from an acute attack of fever; and they consulted Him about her.
38 E ele levantando-se da sinagoga, entrou na casa de Simão. E a mãe da esposa de Simão estava acometida por uma febre alta, e eles pediram-lhe por ela.
39 Then standing over her He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she at once rose and waited on them.
39 E, inclinando-se para ela, repreendeu a febre, e esta a deixou; e, levantando-se imediatamente, ela os serviu.
40 At sunset all who had friends suffering from any illness brought them to Him, and He laid His hands on them all, one by one, and cured them.
40 Ora, quando o sol estava se pondo, trouxeram-lhe todos que estavam enfermos com diversas doenças; e ele impondo as mãos sobre cada um deles, os curava.
41 Demons also came out of many, loudly calling out, »You are the Son of God.« But He rebuked them and forbad them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.
41 E também de muitos saíam demônios, gritando e dizendo: Tu és o Cristo, o Filho de Deus. E ele, repreendendo-os, não os deixava falar; porque eles sabiam que ele era o Cristo.
42 Next morning, at daybreak, He left the town and went away to a solitary place; but the people flocked out to find Him, and, coming to the place where He was, they endeavoured to detain Him that He might not leave them.
42 E quando já era dia, ele partiu e foi para um lugar deserto; e a multidão o procurava, e vindo a ele, tentavam impedi-lo de retirar-se deles.
43 But He said to them, »I have to tell the Good News of the Kingdom of God to the other towns also, because for this purpose I was sent.«
43 E ele disse-lhes: Eu também necessito pregar o reino de Deus para outras cidades; porque para isso eu fui enviado.
44 And for some time He preached in the synagogues in Galilee.
44 E ele pregava nas sinagogas da Galileia.
