1 Christ having made us gloriously free–stand fast and do not again be hampered with the yoke of slavery.
1 Para a liberdade foi que Cristo nos libertou. Por isso, permaneçam firmes e não se submetam, de novo, a jugo de escravidão.
2 Remember that it is I Paul who tell you that if you receive circumcision Christ will avail you nothing.
2 Eu, Paulo, lhes digo que, se vocês se deixarem circuncidar, Cristo não terá valor nenhum para vocês.
3 I once more protest to every man who receives circumcision that he is under obligation to obey the whole Law of Moses.
3 De novo, testifico a todo homem que se deixa circuncidar que o mesmo está obrigado a guardar toda a lei.
4 Christ has become nothing to any of you who are seeking acceptance with God through the Law: you have fallen away from grace.
4 Vocês que procuram justificar-se pela lei estão separados de Cristo; vocês caíram da graça de Deus.
5 We have not, for through the Spirit we wait with longing hope for an acceptance with God which is to come through faith.
5 Porque nós, pelo Espírito, aguardamos a esperança da justiça que provém da fé.
6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any importance; but only faith working through love.
6 Porque, em Cristo Jesus, nem a circuncisão, nem a incircuncisão têm valor algum, mas a fé que atua pelo amor.
7 You were running the race nobly! Who has interfered and caused you to swerve from the truth?
7 Vocês vinham correndo bem! Quem foi que os impediu de continuar a obedecer à verdade?
8 No such teaching ever proceeded from Him who is calling you.
8 Esta persuasão não vem daquele que os chamou.
9 A little yeast corrupts the whole of the dough.
9 Um pouco de fermento leveda toda a massa.
10 For my part I have strong confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt my view of the matter. But the man –be he who he may– who is troubling you, will have to bear the full weight of the judgement to be pronounced on him.
10 Tenho confiança no Senhor de que vocês não mudarão a sua forma de pensar. Mas aquele que está perturbando vocês, seja ele quem for, sofrerá a condenação.
11 As for me, brethren, if I am still a preacher of circumcision, how is it that I am still suffering persecution? In that case the Cross has ceased to be a stumbling-block!
11 Mas, irmãos, se ainda prego a circuncisão, por que continuo sendo perseguido? Nesse caso, estaria desfeito o escândalo da cruz.
12 Would to God that those who are unsettling your faith would even mutilate themselves.
12 Quem dera até se mutilassem aqueles que estão perturbando vocês.
13 You however, brethren, were called to freedom. Only do not turn your freedom into an excuse for giving way to your lower natures; but become bondservants to one another in a spirit of love.
13 Porque vocês, irmãos, foram chamados à liberdade. Mas não usem a liberdade para dar ocasião à carne; pelo contrário, sejam servos uns dos outros, pelo amor.
14 For the entire Law has been obeyed when you have kept the single precept, which says, »You are to love your fellow man equally with yourself.«
14 Porque toda a lei se cumpre em um só preceito, a saber: “Ame o seu próximo como a você mesmo.”
15 But if you are perpetually snarling and snapping at one another, beware lest you are destroyed by one another.
15 Mas, se vocês ficam mordendo e devorando uns aos outros, tenham cuidado para que não sejam mutuamente destruídos.
16 This then is what I mean. Let your lives be guided by the Spirit, and then you will certainly not indulge the cravings of your lower natures.
16 Digo, porém, o seguinte: vivam no Espírito e vocês jamais satisfarão os desejos da carne.
17 For the cravings of the lower nature are opposed to those of the Spirit, and the cravings of the Spirit are opposed to those of the lower nature; because these are antagonistic to each other, so that you cannot do everything to which you are inclined.
17 Porque a carne luta contra o Espírito, e o Espírito luta contra a carne, porque são opostos entre si, para que vocês não façam o que querem.
18 But if the Spirit is leading you, you are not subject to Law.
18 Mas, se são guiados pelo Espírito, vocês não estão debaixo da lei.
19 Now you know full well the doings of our lower natures. Fornication, impurity, indecency, idol-worship, sorcery;
19 Ora, as obras da carne são conhecidas e são: imoralidade sexual, impureza, libertinagem,
20 enmity, strife, jealousy, outbursts of passion, intrigues, dissensions, factions, envyings;
20 idolatria, feitiçarias, inimizades, rixas, ciúmes, iras, discórdias, divisões, facções,
21 hard drinking, riotous feasting, and the like. And as to these I forewarn you, as I have already forewarned you, that those who are guilty of such things will have no share in the Kingdom of God.
21 invejas, bebedeiras, orgias e coisas semelhantes a estas. Declaro a vocês, como antes já os preveni, que os que praticam tais coisas não herdarão o Reino de Deus.
22 The Spirit, on the other hand, brings a harvest of love, joy, peace; patience towards others, kindness, benevolence;
22 Mas o fruto do Espírito é: amor, alegria, paz, longanimidade, benignidade, bondade, fidelidade,
23 good faith, meekness, self-restraint.
23 mansidão, domínio próprio. Contra estas coisas não há lei.
24 Against such things as these there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their lower nature with its passions and appetites.
24 E os que são de Cristo Jesus crucificaram a carne, com as suas paixões e os seus desejos.
25 If we are living by the Spirit's power, let our conduct also be governed by the Spirit's power.
25 Se vivemos no Espírito, andemos também no Espírito.
26 Let us not become vain-glorious, challenging one another, envying one another.
26 Não nos deixemos possuir de vanglória, provocando uns aos outros, tendo inveja uns dos outros.
