Provérbios 30

1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh; The oracle. The [noble] man says to Ithiel, to Ithiel and Ucal:
1 Ditados de Agur, filho de Jaque; oráculo: Este homem declarou a Itiel; a Itiel e a Ucal:
2 Surely I am more brutish than any man, And don't have the understanding of man;
2 "Sou o mais tolo dos homens; não tenho o entendimento de um ser humano.
3 And I have not learned wisdom, Neither have I knowledge of the Holy One.
3 Não aprendi sabedoria, nem tenho conhecimento do Santo.
4 Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if you know?
4 Quem subiu aos céus e desceu? Quem ajuntou nas mãos os ventos? Quem embrulhou as águas em sua capa? Quem fixou todos os limites da terra? Qual é o seu nome, e o nome do seu filho? Conte-me, se você sabe!
5 Every word of God is tried: He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
5 "Cada palavra de Deus é comprovadamente pura; ele é um escudo para quem nele se refugia.
6 Don't add to his words, Or else he will reprove you, and you will be found a liar.
6 Nada acrescente às palavras dele, do contrário, ele o repreenderá e mostrará que você é mentiroso.
7 Two things I have asked of you; Don't deny me [them] before I die:
7 "Duas coisas peço que me dês antes que eu morra:
8 Remove far from me falsehood and lies; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is needful for me:
8 Mantém longe de mim a falsidade e a mentira; Não me dês nem pobreza nem riqueza; dá-me apenas o alimento necessário.
9 Or else I will be full, and deny [you], and say, Who is Yahweh? Or else I will be poor, and steal, And profanely use the name of my God.
9 Se não, tendo demais, eu te negaria e te deixaria, e diria: ‘Quem é o Senhor? ’ Se eu ficasse pobre, poderia vir a roubar, desonrando assim o nome do meu Deus.
10 Don't slander a slave to his master, Or else he will curse you, and you will be held guilty.
10 "Não fale mal do servo ao seu senhor; do contrário, o servo o amaldiçoará, e você levará a culpa.
11 There is a generation who curse their father, And do not bless their mother.
11 "Existem os que amaldiçoam seu pai e não abençoam sua mãe;
12 There is a generation who are pure in their own eyes, And [yet] are not washed from their filthiness.
12 os que são puros aos seus próprios olhos e que ainda não foram purificados da sua impureza;
13 There is a generation, oh how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up.
13 os que têm olhos altivos e olhar desdenhoso;
14 There is a generation whose teeth are [as] swords, and their jaw teeth [as] knives, To devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among man.
14 pessoas cujos dentes são espadas e cujas mandíbulas estão armadas de facas para devorarem os necessitados desta terra e os pobres da humanidade.
15 The horseleach has two daughters, [crying] Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, [Yes], four that don't say, Enough:
15 "Duas filhas tem a sanguessuga. ‘Dê! Dê! ’, gritam elas. "Há três coisas que nunca estão satisfeitas, quatro que nunca dizem: ‘É o bastante! ’:
16 Sheol; and the barren womb; The earth that is not satisfied with water; And the fire that does not say, Enough.
16 O Sheol, o ventre estéril, a terra, que nunca se dessedenta, e o fogo, que nunca diz: ‘É o bastante! ’
17 The eye that mocks at his father, And despises to obey his mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out, And the young eagles will eat it.
17 "Os olhos de quem zomba do pai, e, zombando, nega obediência à mãe, serão arrancados pelos corvos do vale, e serão devorados pelos filhotes do abutre.
18 There are three things which are too wonderful for me, Yes, four which I don't know:
18 "Há três coisas misteriosas demais para mim, quatro que não consigo entender:
19 The way of an eagle in the air; The way of a serpent on a rock; The way of a ship in the midst of the sea; And the way of a [noble] man with a young woman.
19 O caminho do abutre no céu, o caminho da serpente sobre a rocha, o caminho do navio em alto mar, e o caminho do homem com uma moça.
20 So is the way of an adulterous woman; She eats, and wipes her mouth, And says, I have done no wickedness.
20 "Este é o caminho da adúltera: Ela come e limpa a boca, e diz: ‘Não fiz nada de errado’.
21 For three things the earth trembles, And for four, [which] it can't bear:
21 "Três coisas fazem tremer a terra, e quatro ela não pode suportar:
22 For a slave when he is king; And a fool when he is filled with food;
22 O escravo que se torna rei, o insensato farto de comida,
23 For an odious woman when she is married; And a female slave when she takes the place of her mistress.
23 a mulher desprezada que por fim se casa, e a escrava que toma o lugar de sua senhora.
24 There are four things which are little on the earth, But they are exceedingly wise:
24 "Quatro seres da terra são pequenos, e, no entanto, muito sábios:
25 The ants are not a strong people, Yet they provide their food in the summer;
25 As formigas, criaturas de pouca força, contudo, armazenam sua comida no verão;
26 The conies are but a feeble folk, Yet make they their houses in the rocks;
26 os coelhos, criaturas sem nenhum poder, contudo, habitam nos penhascos;
27 The locusts have no king, Yet go they forth all of them by bands;
27 os gafanhotos, que não têm rei, contudo, avançam juntos em fileiras;
28 The lizard, you can catch it with [your] hands, Yet is she in kings' palaces.
28 a lagartixa, que se pode apanhar com as mãos, contudo, encontra-se nos palácios dos reis.
29 There are three things which are stately in their march, Yes, four which are stately in going:
29 "Há três seres de andar elegante, quatro que se movem com passo garboso:
30 The lion, which is mightiest among beasts, And does not turn away for any;
30 O leão, que é poderoso entre os animais e não foge de ninguém;
31 The greyhound; the he-goat also; And the king against whom there is no rising up.
31 o galo de andar altivo; o bode; e o rei à frente do seu exército.
32 If you have done foolishly in lifting up yourself, Or if you have thought evil, [Lay] your hand on your mouth.
32 "Se você agiu como tolo e exaltou-se a si mesmo, ou se planejou o mal, tape a boca com a mão!
33 For the churning of milk brings forth butter, And the wringing of the nose brings forth blood; So the forcing of wrath brings forth strife.
33 Pois assim como bater o leite produz manteiga, e assim como torcer o nariz produz sangue, também suscitar a raiva produz contenda".
