¹ And one out of the multitude said to him, Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me.

¹ Vieram também os fariseus com os saduceus, para o tentarem, pediram que lhes mostrasse algum sinal do céu.

² But he said to him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you{+}?

² Mas ele, respondendo, disse-lhes: Quando é chegada a tarde, dizeis: Haverá bom tempo, porque o céu está rubro.

³ And he said to them, Take heed, and keep yourselves from all greed: for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possesses.

³ E, pela manhã: Haverá tempo ruim hoje, pois o céu está de um vermelho sombrio. Hipócritas, podeis discernir a face do céu, mas não podeis discernir os sinais dos tempos?

⁴ And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

⁴ Uma geração perversa e adúltera procura um sinal, e nenhum sinal lhe será dado, senão o sinal do profeta Jonas. E, ele os deixando, partiu.

⁵ and he reasoned to himself, saying, What shall I do, because I don't have a place to bestow my fruits?

⁵ E, passando seus discípulos para o outro lado, tinham-se esquecido de levar pão.

⁶ And he said, I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there I will bestow all my grain and my goods.

⁶ Então Jesus disse-lhes: Cuidai-vos e guardai-vos do fermento dos fariseus e dos saduceus.

⁷ And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.

⁷ E eles arrazoavam entre si, dizendo: É porque nós não trouxemos pão.

⁸ But God said to him, You foolish one, this [is] the night they demand back your soul from you; and the things which you have prepared, whose will they be?

⁸ Quando Jesus percebeu isso, disse: Oh pequena fé, por que arrazoais entre vós por não terdes trazido pão?

⁹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

⁹ Não compreendeis ainda, nem vos lembrais dos cinco pães e dos cinco mil, e de quantos cestos recolhestes?

¹⁰ And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you{+}, don't be anxious for your{+} life, what you{+} will eat, or what you{+} will drink; nor yet for your{+} body, what you{+} will put on. Isn't life more than food, and body than clothing?

¹⁰ Nem dos sete pães e dos quatro mil, e de quantos cestos recolhestes?

¹¹ Look at the birds of the heaven, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your{+} heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you{+} of much more value then they?

¹¹ Como não compreendestes que eu não vos falei a respeito do pão, mas que tivessem cuidado do fermento dos fariseus e dos saduceus?

¹² And which of you{+} by being anxious can add one cubit to the measure of his life?

¹² Então compreenderam de que não dissera que se guardassem do fermento do pão, mas da doutrina dos fariseus e dos saduceus.

¹³ And why are you{+} anxious concerning clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they do not toil, neither do they spin:

¹³ Vindo Jesus às regiões de Cesareia de Filipe, perguntou aos seus discípulos, dizendo: Quem dizem os homens, que eu, o Filho do homem, sou?

¹⁴ yet I say to you{+}, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

¹⁴ E eles disseram: Alguns dizem que és João, o Batista; outros Elias, e outros Jeremias, ou um dos profetas.

¹⁵ But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is [here], and tomorrow is cast into the oven, [will he] not much more [clothe] you{+}, O you{+} of little faith?

¹⁵ Disse-lhes ele: Mas vós, quem dizeis que eu sou?

¹⁶ Therefore don't be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, With what shall we be clothed?

¹⁶ E Simão Pedro, respondendo, disse: Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo.

¹⁷ For after all these things the Gentiles seek; for your{+} heavenly Father knows that you{+} have need of all these things.

¹⁷ E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhe: Abençoado és tu, Simão Barjonas, pois carne e sangue não revelaram isso a ti, mas o meu Pai que está no céu.

¹⁸ But seek{+} first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added to you{+}.

¹⁸ E eu também te digo que tu és Pedro, e sobre esta rocha eu edificarei a minha igreja, e as portas do inferno não prevalecerão contra ela.

¹⁹ Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal:

¹⁹ E eu te darei as chaves do reino do céu; e tudo quanto tu ligares na terra será ligado no céu, tudo quanto tu desligares na terra será desligado no céu.

²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

²⁰ Então ele ordenou aos seus discípulos que não contassem a nenhum homem que ele era Jesus, o Cristo.

²¹ for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

²¹ Desde esse tempo começou Jesus a mostrar aos seus discípulos que ele deveria ir a Jerusalém, e sofrer muitas coisas dos anciãos, e dos principais sacerdotes e escribas, e ser morto, e ressuscitar ao terceiro dia.

²² Let your{+} loins be girded about, and your{+} lamps burning;

²² E Pedro, tomando-o, começou a repreendê-lo, dizendo: Longe de ti, Senhor; isso não será para ti.

²³ and be{+} yourselves like men looking for their lord, when he will return from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may right away open to him.

²³ Mas ele, virando-se, disse a Pedro: Para trás de mim, Satanás; tu és uma ofensa a mim; porque não tens gosto das coisas que são de Deus, mas das que são dos homens.

²⁴ Blessed are those slaves, whom the lord when he comes will find watching: truly I say to you{+}, that he will gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and will come and serve them.

²⁴ Então disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: Se algum homem quiser vir após mim, negue-se a si mesmo, tome a sua cruz, e siga-me.

²⁵ And if he will come in the second watch, and if in the third, and find [them] so, blessed are those [slaves].

²⁵ Porque aquele que quiser salvar a sua vida, perdê-la-á; e quem perder a sua vida por minha causa, achá-la-á.

²⁶ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken through.

²⁶ Pois que vantagem tem o homem em ganhar o mundo inteiro, e perder a sua própria alma? Ou que dará o homem em troca da sua alma?

²⁷ Therefore you{+} also be ready; for in an hour that you{+} do not think the Son of Man comes.

²⁷ Porque o Filho do homem virá na glória de seu Pai, com os seus anjos; e então recompensará a cada um segundo as suas obras.

²⁸ Who then is the faithful and wise slave, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?

²⁸ Em verdade eu vos digo, alguns dos que aqui estão não provarão a morte até que vejam o Filho do homem vindo em seu reino.

²⁹ Blessed is that slave, whom his lord when he comes will find so doing.

²⁹ — ausente —

³⁰ Truly I say to you{+}, that he will set him over all that he has.

³⁰ — ausente —

³¹ But if that evil slave says in his heart, My lord tarries;

³¹ — ausente —

³² and begins to beat his fellow slaves, and to eat and drink, and to be drunk;

³² — ausente —

³³ the lord of that slave will come in a day when he does not expect, and in an hour when he does not know,

³³ — ausente —

³⁴ and will cut him apart, and appoint his portion with the unfaithful.

³⁴ — ausente —

³⁵ For as [were] the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

³⁵ — ausente —

³⁶ For as in those days which were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

³⁶ — ausente —

³⁷ and they didn't know until the flood came, and took them all away; so also will be the coming of the Son of Man.

³⁸ Then will two men be in the field; one is taken, and one is left:

³⁸ — ausente —

³⁹ two women [will be] grinding at the mill; one is taken, and one is left.

³⁹ — ausente —

⁴⁰ And he went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and journeying on to Jerusalem.
