1 My soul is weary of my life; I will give free course to my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
1 “Estou cansado de viver. Darei livre curso à minha queixa, falarei na amargura da minha alma.
2 I will say to God, Do not condemn me; Show me why you contend with me.
2 Pedirei a Deus: ‘Não me condenes!’ Faze-me saber o que tens contra mim.
3 Is it good to you that you should oppress, That you should despise the work of your hands, And shine on the counsel of the wicked?
3 Será que tens prazer em me oprimir, em rejeitar a obra das tuas mãos e em favorecer o conselho dos ímpios?
4 Do you have eyes of flesh? Or do you see as common man sees?
4 Por acaso, tens olhos de gente? Ou vês tu como vê uma pessoa?
5 Are your days as the days of common man, Or your years as the days of [noble] man,
5 São os teus dias como os dias de um mortal? Ou são os teus anos como os anos de um ser humano,
6 That you inquire after my iniquity, And search after my sin,
6 para te informares da minha iniquidade e indagares o meu pecado?
7 Although you know that I am not wicked, And there is none who can deliver out of your hand?
7 Bem sabes que eu não sou culpado; todavia, não há ninguém que possa me livrar da tua mão.”
8 Your hands have framed me and fashioned me, Together round about; yet you destroy me.
8 “As tuas mãos me plasmaram e me fizeram, porém, agora, queres destruir-me.
9 Remember, I urge you, that you have fashioned me as clay; And will you bring me into dust again?
9 Lembra-te de que me formaste como em barro. E, agora, queres reduzir-me a pó?
10 Have you not poured me out as milk, And curdled me like cheese?
10 Por acaso, não me derramaste como leite e não me coalhaste como queijo?
11 You have clothed me with skin and flesh, And knit me together with bones and sinews.
11 De pele e carne me vestiste e de ossos e tendões me teceste.
12 You have granted me life and loving-kindness; And your visitation has preserved my spirit.
12 Tu me deste vida e bondade, e o teu cuidado guardou o meu espírito.
13 Yet these things you hid in your heart; I know that this is with you:
13 Mas ocultaste estas coisas no teu coração; e agora sei que este era o teu plano.
14 If I sin, then you mark me, And you will not acquit me from my iniquity.
14 Se eu pecar, tu me observas; e da minha iniquidade não me perdoarás.
15 If I am wicked, woe to me; And if I am righteous, yet I will not lift up my head, Filled with shame and drunk with my affliction.
15 Se for iníquo, ai de mim! E, se for justo, não ouso levantar a cabeça, pois estou envergonhado e olho para a minha miséria.
16 And if [my head] exalts itself, you hunt me as a lion; And again you show yourself marvelous on me.
16 Porque, se levanto a cabeça, tu me caças como um leão feroz e de novo revelas o teu poder maravilhoso contra mim.
17 You renew your witnesses against me, And increase your indignation on me: Changes and warfare are with me.
17 Renovas contra mim as tuas testemunhas e multiplicas contra mim a tua ira; males e lutas se sucedem contra mim.”
18 Why then have you brought me forth out of the womb? I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me.
18 “Por que me tiraste do ventre de minha mãe? Eu deveria ter morrido antes que um olho me visse!
19 I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.
19 Teria sido como alguém que nunca existiu e já do ventre teria sido levado à sepultura.
20 Are not my days few? stop. Turn away from me, that I may take comfort a little,
20 Não são poucos os meus dias? Cessa, pois, e deixa-me em paz, para que por um pouco eu tome alento,
21 Before I go from where I will not return, [Even] to the land of darkness and of the shadow of death;
21 antes que eu vá para o lugar do qual não voltarei, para a terra das trevas e da sombra da morte,
22 The land dark as midnight, [The land] of the shadow of death, without any order, And where the light is as midnight.
22 terra de escuridão, de trevas profundas, terra da sombra da morte e do caos, onde a própria luz é como a escuridão.”
