1 Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.

2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.
4 Liyabehene kundaa nde, limeẽ lili mweẽ, libatsili kundaa baara, lo li osuolo Nzaami ya lili lili ntala ŋa nkulu a nde.

5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Buulu liikatala mu Ndagha a Nzaami ti:
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 «Ya lo ayi: Limeẽ li baakubu makya,
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 Lo be, be lili etswumu ki basuolo, bangaa-ba-nzaami ba mukogho, «ekaana kii ngili, mpwumu a baara ba ósi Nzaami baba ndaa nde, mpaala be litsala nsia a mandagha ma manene mama munde wu aapaha be mu mpyibi-a-nswi ya asohobo be mu otsyeme kuu okiŋimi.»
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Be baala, «mu ena ki ekulu ka líli mpwumu a baara ba Nzaami o», lo mu matala ma be ayi mpwumu a baara ba nde. «Mu ena ki ekulu Nzaami ka akamono be nyiĩ o», lo mu matala ma, nde li mu okamono be nyiĩ.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 Bandughu ba me baba mukolo, me mbuono be ti anga baara ba baaluru ya ba bali bandzyi ŋa yulu a nsie, liikakuru mikolo mpaala linyaã obwa mu nsogho a musunu yi aakadzwana mvulu ya muwumunu.
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Ŋa kara li ba bagwene osoolo Nzaami, likala a nzya-nzyara yi mbwe, mpaala ŋa oogyughu ba baakabuulu be mandagha ti be liikasa bubi, lo bo bamono bigyighili bi be bi bibwe, bo sa bagwa Nzaami nsia mu etsughu ki aagya nde.
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Mu nkooro a Mfumu, liikakihi mandagha ma litumu ma bamfumu ba nsie: Mama mukogho, mu kuulu nde li mfumu a baara bwohono,

14 mama bamfumu ba bitsulu bi nsie ba ookagweghe mukogho mu osyeme ba baakasa bubi ya mu ogwa nsia kundaa ba baakasa bubwe.
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 Buulu waa li Nzaami me li: Bu lisi mandagha ma mabwe, be likuru miŋma mi ba bagwene osoolo mandagha ya mimi biwulu.
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 Liikadzyara ti anga baara ba bali bumpoholo, ya bumpoholo bu be bunyaã okala eko ki eefughu mandagha ma be ma mabi. Lo liikadzyara ti anga bankana ba Nzaami.
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Liikagwa baara bwohono budziri, liikadzyi bandughu mu kana ba be, liikakala a nzalamweẽ a Nzaami, liikagwa mukogho budziri.
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Be basala, mu budziri, ka likakala a nkyini ŋa nkulu a bamfumu ba be o. Liikakihi litumu li bamfumu ngu okala ba babwe ya ba badzuunu bwunu we ba bali a mukolo mubi.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Buulu oli bwehe, mu nkooro a budziri bu Nzaami, mbwuru akakuru mukolo mu mpara yiili nde ka li a ebili mu yo o.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 Nsa ndaana be liibagha kala ti be liikakuru mukolo mu masyeme ma mandagha ma mabi ma liikagyighili be? Lo, kala ti ŋa mbihi a ogyighili mandagha ma mabwe be lili mu okamono mpara ya okakuru mukolo mu okebe, bubo bwehe ŋa mihi mi Nzaami.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 Ankoho me mu obo Nzaami ati be mbili, buulu Kriste si ámono mpara mu nkooro a be, bu ásihi be efaana mpaala be linama bitaama bi nde.
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Nde wuulu ka ási lisumu o,
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 Nde wuulu bu batughu nde,
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 Mu nyuru a nde,
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 Buulu be líili ti anga bindoomo bi bidzimini,
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
