¹ Great is the Lord and worthy all praise in the city of our God. His holy mountain,

¹ Grande é o Senhor e mui digno de ser louvado, na cidade do nosso Deus, seu santo monte.

² that rises so fair, is the joy of all the world. Like the mount of the gods is Mount Zion, the city of the great king.

² Alto e belo, alegria de toda a terra, é o monte Sião, para os lados do Norte, a cidade do grande Rei.

³ Once God made himself known as the defence of her palaces.

³ Nos palácios dela, Deus se faz conhecer como alto refúgio.

⁴ For see! A concert of kings passed over the frontier together.

⁴ Por isso, eis que os reis se uniram e juntos a atacaram.

⁵ But one glance, and they were astounded; they hastened away in dismay.

⁵ Quando viram, se espantaram; ficaram com medo e fugiram apressados.

⁶ Trembling took hold of them there, like the pains of a woman in labour.

⁶ O terror ali os venceu, e sentiram dores como de mulher que está dando à luz.

⁷ They were shattered, as east wind shatters the giant ships in pieces.

⁷ Com vento leste destruíste as naus de Társis.

⁸ What we heard, we now have seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, the city of our God. God will uphold her forever. (Selah)

¹¹ Let mount Zion be glad; let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments.

¹¹ Alegre-se o monte Sião, exultem as filhas de Judá, por causa dos teus juízos.

¹² Walk about Zion, go round her; count her towers.

¹² Andem em volta de Sião, rodeiem-na toda, contem as suas torres;

¹³ Set your mind on her ramparts, consider her palaces; that you tell to the next generation

¹³ notem bem as suas muralhas, observem os seus palácios, para que possam contar às gerações vindouras

¹⁴ That such is God, our God he it is who shall guide us for ever and ever.

¹⁴ que este é Deus, o nosso Deus para todo o sempre; ele será nosso guia até a morte.
