1 Why do you stand, Lord, so far away, hiding yourself in times of trouble?
1 Por que te conservas longe, Senhor ? Por que te escondes nos tempos de angústia?
2 The wicked, in their pride, are pursuing the helpless: let them be caught in the schemes they have plotted.
2 Os ímpios, na sua arrogância, perseguem furiosamente o pobre; sejam apanhados nas ciladas que maquinaram.
3 For the wicked boast of their wanton greed; the robber despises the Lord, and curses him,
3 Porque o ímpio gloria-se do desejo da sua alma, bendiz ao avarento e blasfema do Senhor .
4 in wicked pride, thinks: God doesn’t care, God doesn’t call to account.
4 Por causa do seu orgulho, o ímpio não investiga; todas as suas cogitações são: Não há Deus.
5 Never a season that they do not prosper; your judgments are far above out of their sight: they scoff at their foes.
5 Os seus caminhos são sempre atormentadores; os teus juízos estão longe dele, em grande altura; trata com desprezo os seus adversários.
6 Each says in their heart, “I will never be shaken; I will live for all time untouched by misfortune.”
6 Diz em seu coração: Não serei abalado, porque nunca me verei na adversidade.
7 Their mouths are full of deceit and oppression: under their tongues lurks mischief and wrong.
7 A sua boca está cheia de imprecações, de enganos e de astúcia; debaixo da sua língua há malícia e maldade.
8 Lying in secret in some village ambush, and stealthily watching, they murder the innocent.
8 Põe-se nos cerrados das aldeias; nos lugares ocultos mata o inocente; os seus olhos estão ocultamente fixos sobre o pobre.
9 Like a lion lurks in a secret lair they lurk intending to catch the defenceless; to seize them, to drag them away in their net.
9 Arma ciladas em esconderijos, como o leão no seu covil; arma ciladas para roubar o pobre; rouba-o colhendo-o na sua rede.
10 Their victims are crushed, sink down to the ground. Under claws the hapless fall.
10 Encolhe-se, abaixa-se, para que os pobres caiam em suas fortes garras.
11 In their hearts the wicked say that God has forgotten, has hidden his face, will see nothing.
11 Diz em seu coração: Deus esqueceu-se; cobriu o seu rosto e nunca verá isto.
12 Arise, Lord, lift up your hand, do not forget the cry of the wretched.
12 Levanta-te, Senhor ! Ó Deus, levanta a tua mão; não te esqueças dos necessitados!
13 Why do the wicked treat God with contempt, and say in their hearts, “God doesn’t care”?
13 Por que blasfema de Deus o ímpio, dizendo no seu coração que tu não inquirirás?
14 You have seen the trouble and sorrow; you mark it all, and will take it in hand. The hapless can count on you, helper of orphans.
14 Tu o viste, porque atentas para o trabalho e enfado, para os tomares sob tuas mãos; a ti o pobre se encomenda; tu és o auxílio do órfão.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil: search out their sin, till no more be found.
15 Quebranta o braço do ímpio e malvado; busca a sua impiedade até nada mais achares dela.
16 The Lord is king forever and ever: the nations will vanish from his land.
16 O Senhor é Rei eterno; da sua terra serão desarraigados os gentios.
17 Lord, you have heard the desire of the humble, inclining your ear, strengthening their hearts,
17 Senhor , tu ouviste os desejos dos mansos; confortarás o seu coração; os teus ouvidos estarão abertos para eles;
18 rights you have won for the crushed and the orphan, so no one on earth may strike terror again.
18 para fazeres justiça ao órfão e ao oprimido, a fim de que o homem, que é da terra, não prossiga mais em usar da violência.
