1 For the kingdom of heaven is like an employer who went out in the early morning to hire laborers for his vineyards.
1 "Pois o Reino dos céus é como um proprietário que saiu de manhã cedo para contratar trabalhadores para a sua vinha.
2 He agreed with the laborers to pay them the standard daily rate of two silver coins, and sent them into his vineyard.
2 Ele combinou pagar-lhes um denário pelo dia e mandou-os para a sua vinha.
3 On going out again, about nine o’clock, he saw some others standing in the marketplace, doing nothing.
3 "Por volta das noves hora da manhã, ele saiu e viu outros que estavam desocupados na praça,
4 ‘You also may go into my vineyard,’ he said, ‘and I will pay you what is fair.’
4 e lhes disse: ‘Vão também trabalhar na vinha, e eu lhes pagarei o que for justo’.
5 So they went. Going out again about midday and about three o’clock, he did as before.
5 E eles foram. "Saindo outra vez, por volta do meio dia e das três horas da tarde e nona, fez a mesma coisa.
6 When he went out about five, he found some others standing there, and said to them ‘Why have you been standing here all day long, doing nothing?’
6 Saindo por volta da cinco horas da tarde, encontrou ainda outros que estavam desocupados e lhes perguntou: ‘Por que vocês estiveram aqui desocupados o dia todo? ’
7 ‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. ‘You also may go into my vineyard,’ he said.
7 ‘Porque ninguém nos contratou’, responderam eles. "Ele lhes disse: ‘Vão vocês também trabalhar na vinha’.
8 In the evening the owner of the vineyard said to his steward ‘Call the laborers, and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, and ending with the first.
8 "Ao cair da tarde, o dono da vinha disse a seu administrador: ‘Chame os trabalhadores e pague-lhes o salário, começando com os últimos contratados e terminando nos primeiros’.
9 Now when those who had been hired about five o’clock went up, they received two silver coins each.
9 "Vieram os trabalhadores contratados por volta das cinco horas da tarde, e cada um recebeu um denário.
10 So, when the first went up, they thought that they would receive more, but they also received two silver coins each;
10 Quando vieram os que tinham sido contratados primeiro, esperavam receber mais. Mas cada um deles também recebeu um denário.
11 on which they began to grumble at their employer.
11 Quando o receberam, começaram a se queixar do proprietário da vinha,
12 ‘These last,’ they said, ‘have done only one hour’s work, and yet you have put them on the same footing with us, who have borne the brunt of the day’s work, and the heat.’
12 dizendo-lhe: ‘Estes homens contratados por último trabalharam apenas uma hora, e o senhor os igualou a nós, que suportamos o peso do trabalho e o calor do dia’.
13 ‘My friend,’ was his reply to one of them, ‘I am not treating you unfairly. Did not you agree with me for two silver coins?
13 "Mas ele respondeu a um deles: ‘Amigo, não estou sendo injusto com você. Você não concordou em trabalhar por um denário?
14 Take what belongs to you, and go. I choose to give to this last man the same as to you.
14 Receba o que é seu e vá. Eu quero dar ao que foi contratado por último o mesmo que lhe dei.
15 Have not I the right to do as I choose with what is mine? Are you envious because I am liberal?’
15 Não tenho o direito de fazer o que quero com o meu dinheiro? Ou você está com inveja porque sou generoso? ’
16 So those who are last will be first, and the first last.”
16 "Assim, os últimos serão primeiros, e os primeiros serão últimos".
17 When Jesus was on the point of going up to Jerusalem, he gathered the twelve disciples around him by themselves, and said to them as they were on their way:
17 Enquanto estava subindo para Jerusalém, Jesus chamou em particular os doze discípulos e lhes disse:
18 “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem; and there the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and teachers of the law, and they will condemn him to death,
18 "Estamos subindo para Jerusalém, e o Filho do homem será entregue aos chefes dos sacerdotes e aos mestres da lei. Eles o condenarão à morte
19 and give him up to the Gentiles for them to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify; and on the third day he will rise.”
19 e o entregarão aos gentios para que zombem dele, o açoitem e o crucifiquem. No terceiro dia ele ressuscitará! "
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to him with her sons, bowing to the ground, and begging a favor.
20 Então, aproximou-se de Jesus a mãe dos filhos de Zebedeu com seus filhos e, prostrando-se, fez-lhe um pedido.
21 “What is it that you want?” he asked. “I want you to say,” she replied, “that in your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit, one on your right, and the other on your left.”
21 "O que você quer? ", perguntou ele. Ela respondeu: "Declara que no teu Reino estes meus dois filhos se assentarão um à tua direita e o outro à tua esquerda".
22 “You do not know what you are asking,” was Jesus’ answer. “Can you drink the cup that I am to drink?” “Yes,” they exclaimed, “we can.”
22 Disse-lhes Jesus: "Vocês não sabem o que estão pedindo. Podem vocês beber o cálice que eu vou beber? " "Podemos", responderam eles.
23 “You will indeed drink my cup,” he said, “but as to a seat at my right and at my left — that is not mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”
23 Jesus lhes disse: "Certamente vocês beberão do meu cálice; mas o assentar-se à minha direita ou à minha esquerda não cabe a mim conceder. Esses lugares pertencem àqueles para quem foram preparados por meu Pai".
24 On hearing of this, the ten others were very indignant about the two brothers.
24 Quando os outros dez ouviram isso, ficaram indignados com os dois irmãos.
25 Jesus, however, called the ten to him, and said: “The rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them as you know, and their high officials oppress them.
25 Jesus os chamou e disse: "Vocês sabem que os governantes das nações as dominam, e as pessoas importantes exercem poder sobre elas.
26 Among you it is not so.
26 Não será assim entre vocês. Pelo contrário, quem quiser tornar-se importante entre vocês deverá ser servo,
27 No, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to take the first place among you, must be your slave;
27 e quem quiser ser o primeiro deverá ser escravo;
28 just as the Son of Man came, not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
28 como o Filho do homem, que não veio para ser servido, mas para servir e dar a sua vida em resgate por muitos".
29 As they were going out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him.
29 Ao saírem de Jericó, uma grande multidão seguiu a Jesus.
30 Two blind men who were sitting by the roadside, hearing that Jesus was passing, called out: “Take pity on us, Master, Son of David!”
30 Dois cegos estavam sentados à beira do caminho e, quando ouviram falar que Jesus estava passando, puseram-se a gritar: "Senhor, Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de nós! "
31 The crowd told them to be quiet; but the men only called out the louder: “Take pity on us, Master, Son of David!”
31 A multidão os repreendeu para que ficassem quietos, mas eles gritavam ainda mais: "Senhor, Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de nós! "
32 Then Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he said.
32 Jesus, parando, chamou-os e perguntou-lhes: "O que vocês querem que eu lhes faça? "
33 “Master,” they replied, “we want our eyes to be opened.”
33 Responderam eles: "Senhor, queremos que se abram os nossos olhos".
34 So Jesus, moved with compassion, touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight, and followed him.
34 Jesus teve compaixão deles e tocou nos olhos deles. Imediatamente eles recuperaram a visão e o seguiram.
