1 And Jehovah answered Job and said:
1 Disse mais o Senhor a Jó:
2 Shall a reprover contend with the Almighty? He who reproves God, let him answer it.
2 Contenderá contra o Todo-Poderoso o censurador? Quem assim argüi a Deus, responda a estas coisas.
3 Then Job answered Jehovah and said:
3 Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor, e disse:
4 Behold, I am vile! What shall I answer You? I will put my hand to my mouth.
4 Eis que sou vil; que te responderia eu? Antes ponho a minha mão sobre a boca.
5 Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; yea, twice, but I will go no further.
5 Uma vez tenho falado, e não replicarei; ou ainda duas vezes, porém não prosseguirei.
6 And Jehovah answered Job out of the tempest and said:
6 Então, do meio do redemoinho, o Senhor respondeu a Jó:
7 Now gird up your loins like a man, and I will question you; and you teach Me.
7 Cinge agora os teus lombos como homem; eu te perguntarei a ti, e tu me responderás.
8 Will you also set aside My judgment; will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?
8 Farás tu vão também o meu juízo, ou me condenarás para te justificares a ti?
9 And have you an arm like God; or can you thunder with a voice like His?
9 Ou tens braço como Deus; ou podes trovejar com uma voz como a dele?
10 Adorn yourself with majesty now, and with grandeur, and clothe yourself with glory and honor;
10 Orna-te, pois, de excelência e dignidade, e veste-te de glória e de esplendor.
11 pour forth the outbursts of your anger; yea, look on everyone who is proud, and bring him down low;
11 Derrama as inundações da tua ira, e atenta para todo soberbo, e abate-o.
12 look on everyone who is proud, and humble him, and trample the wicked in their place;
12 Olha para todo soberbo, e humilha-o, e calca aos pés os ímpios onde estão.
13 hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in darkness.
13 Esconde-os juntamente no pó; ata-lhes os rostos no lugar escondido.
14 Then I also will confess to you that your right hand can save you.
14 Então também eu de ti confessarei que a tua mão direita te poderá salvar.
15 Now behold Behemoth, which I made along with you; he eats grass like an ox;
15 Contempla agora o hipopótamo, que eu criei como a ti, que come a erva como o boi.
16 see, now, his strength is in his loins, and his force in the muscles of his belly;
16 Eis que a sua força está nos seus lombos, e o seu poder nos músculos do seu ventre.
17 he hangs his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together;
17 Ele enrija a sua cauda como o cedro; os nervos das suas coxas são entretecidos.
18 his bones are like tubes of bronze; his bones like bars of iron;
18 Os seus ossos são como tubos de bronze, as suas costelas como barras de ferro.
19 he is the first in the ways of God; his Maker brings near his sword.
19 Ele é obra prima dos caminhos de Deus; aquele que o fez o proveu da sua espada.
20 For the mountains yield food for him, and all the beasts of the field play there.
20 Em verdade os montes lhe produzem pasto, onde todos os animais do campo folgam.
21 He lies under the lotus, in the hiding-place of the reed and the marsh;
21 Deita-se debaixo dos lotos, no esconderijo dos canaviais e no pântano.
22 the lotus trees cover him in its shadow; the willows of the torrent circle him.
22 Os lotos cobrem-no com sua sombra; os salgueiros do ribeiro o cercam.
23 Behold, he is confident, even if Jordan burst forth against his mouth.
23 Eis que se um rio trasborda, ele não treme; sente-se seguro ainda que o Jordão se levante até a sua boca.
24 Shall any take him before his eyes, or pierce his nose with snares?
24 Poderá alguém apanhá-lo quando ele estiver de vigia, ou com laços lhe furar o nariz?
