1 And Elihu continued, and said:
1 Eliú seguiu falando e disse:
2 Wait for me a little, and I will show you that there are yet words for God.
2 “Mais um pouco de paciência, e eu lhe mostrarei que tenho mais argumentos a favor de Deus.
3 I will bring my knowledge from afar, and I will credit righteousness to my Maker.
3 Trarei o meu conhecimento de longe e atribuirei a justiça ao meu Criador.
4 For truly my words are not false; the perfect One in knowledge is with you.
4 Porque, na verdade, as minhas palavras não são falsas; quem está diante de você é senhor do assunto.”
5 Behold, God is mighty, and He does not despise. He is mighty in strength of heart.
5 “Eis que Deus é grande e não despreza ninguém; ele é grande na força da sua compreensão.
6 He will not keep the wicked alive, but He gives justice to the afflicted.
6 Não poupa a vida do ímpio, mas faz justiça aos aflitos.
7 He does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous, but they are like kings on the throne; yea, He causes them to sit forever, and they are very high.
7 Deus não tira os seus olhos dos justos; pelo contrário, os assenta no trono com os reis, para sempre, e eles são exaltados.
8 And if they are bound in chains, or caught in cords of affliction,
8 Se estão presos com correntes e amarrados com cordas de aflição,
9 then He declares to them their work and their transgressions, that they have behaved proudly.
9 ele lhes faz ver as suas obras, as suas transgressões, e que se mostraram arrogantes.
10 He also opens their ear to instruction, and commands that they turn back from iniquity.
10 Abre-lhes também os ouvidos para a instrução e ordena que se convertam da iniquidade.
11 If they hear and serve, they shall spend their days in good, and their years in pleasures.
11 Se o ouvirem e o servirem, acabarão os seus dias em felicidade e os seus anos em delícias.
12 But if they do not obey, they shall pass away by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
12 Porém, se não o ouvirem, serão passados pela espada e morrerão na sua cegueira.”
13 But the ungodly in heart heap up anger; they cry not when He has bound them.
13 “Os ímpios de coração alimentam a ira; e, quando são aprisionados por Deus, não clamam pedindo socorro.
14 Their soul dies in youth, and their life ends among the sodomites.
14 Perdem a vida na sua mocidade e morrem entre os prostitutos cultuais.
15 He delivers the afflicted by his affliction, and He opens their ears by oppression.
15 Deus livra o aflito por meio da sua aflição e pelo sofrimento lhe abre os ouvidos.”
16 And He also would have lured you from the mouth of distress to a wide place not cramped under; and the setting of your table would be full of fatness.
16 “Assim também a você Deus procura tirar da angústia e levar para um lugar espaçoso, em que não há aperto, e para o conforto de uma mesa cheia de comida saborosa.
17 But you have filled up the judgment of the wicked; judgment and justice take hold.
17 Mas você se enche do juízo do perverso, e, por isso, o juízo e a justiça o alcançarão.
18 For beware wrath, that He not lure you with His scorn; then a great ransom cannot turn you aside.
18 Tenha cuidado para que a ira não o leve a zombar, nem permita que a grande quantia do resgate o desvie.
19 If your cry for help is set in order, then it will not be in distress, but with all the strong forces?
19 Será que ele levaria em conta as suas lamúrias e todos os seus grandes esforços, para que você se veja livre da sua angústia?
20 Do not desire the night, when people are cut off in their place.
20 Não suspire pela noite, em que povos serão tirados do seu lugar.
21 Beware! Do not turn to iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.
21 Cuidado! Não se incline para a iniquidade, você parece preferir a iniquidade à sua miséria.”
22 Behold, God is exalted in His power. Who is a teacher like Him?
22 “Eis que Deus se mostra grande em seu poder! Quem é mestre como ele?
23 Who has appointed Him His way; or who can say, You have done wrong?
23 Quem lhe prescreveu o seu caminho ou quem pode lhe dizer: ‘Cometeste uma injustiça’?
24 Remember that you magnify His work, of which men have sung;
24 Lembre-se de exaltar as obras de Deus, que as pessoas celebram.
25 every man has seen it; man beholds it from afar.
25 Toda a humanidade olha para elas; as pessoas as contemplam de longe.
26 Behold, God is great, and we do not know; the number of His years cannot be searched out.
26 Eis que Deus é grande, e não o podemos compreender; o número dos seus anos não se pode calcular.”
27 For He draws up the drops of water; they distill rain into mist.
27 “Ele atrai para si as gotas de água que de seu vapor destilam em chuva,
28 which the clouds drip down, and drop upon men plentifully.
28 a qual as nuvens derramam e gotejam sobre a terra em grande abundância.
29 Also can any understand the spreading of the clouds, the crashing of His canopy?
29 Pode alguém entender como ele estende as nuvens e como os trovões ecoam em sua tenda?
30 Behold, He spreads His light about Him, and He covers the bottom of the sea.
30 Eis que ele espalha sobre elas o seu relâmpago e encobre as profundezas do mar.
31 For He judges the people by them; He gives plenty of food.
31 Pois por estas coisas ele julga os povos e lhes dá alimento em abundância.
32 He covers His hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark;
32 Enche as mãos de relâmpagos e os arremessa contra o adversário.
33 its thunder tells about Him; also the cattle, as to what is coming.
33 O fragor da tempestade dá notícias a respeito dele, dele que é zeloso na sua ira contra a injustiça.”
