1 And it happened that on one of the days while he was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes approached together with the elders
1 E aconteceu que, em um daqueles dias, enquanto ele ensinava o povo no templo, e pregava o evangelho, os principais sacerdotes e os escribas vieram a ele com os anciãos,
2 and said, saying to him, “Tell us, by what authority you are doing these things, or who is the one who gave you this authority?
2 e falaram-lhe, dizendo: Dize-nos, com que autoridade fazes tu essas coisas? Ou quem é que te deu tal autoridade?
3 And he answered and said to them, “I also will ask you a question, and you tell me:
3 E, respondendo ele, disse-lhes: Eu também vos perguntarei uma coisa, respondam-me:
4 The baptism of John—was it from heaven or from men?
4 O batismo de João, era do céu ou dos homens?
5 And they discussed this with one another, saying, “If we say ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’
5 E eles arrazoavam entre si, dizendo: Se nós dissermos: Do céu, ele nos dirá: Por que então não crestes?
6 But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us to death, because they are convinced that John was a prophet.”
6 Mas, e se nós dissermos: Dos homens, todo o povo nos apedrejará, porque eles estão convencidos que João era um profeta.
7 And they replied that they did not know where it was from.
7 E eles responderam que não podiam dizer de onde era.
8 And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
8 E Jesus lhes disse: Tampouco eu vos direi com que autoridade faço estas coisas.
9 And he began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, and leased it to tenant farmers, and went on a journey for a long time.
9 Então, ele começou a falar ao povo esta parábola: Certo homem plantou uma vinha, e arrendou-a a uns lavradores, e foi para uma terra distante por muito tempo.
10 And at the proper time he sent a slave to the tenant farmers, so that they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenant farmers sent him away empty-handed after beating him.
10 E, no devido tempo, enviou um servo aos lavradores, para que lhe dessem dos frutos da vinha; mas os lavradores, espancando-o, mandaram-no embora vazio.
11 And he proceeded to send another slave, but they beat and dishonored that one also, and sent him away empty-handed.
11 E novamente ele enviou outro servo; e eles também o espancaram, e o insultaram e o mandaram embora vazio.
12 And he proceeded to send a third, but they wounded and threw out this one also.
12 E ele enviou novamente um terceiro; e eles também feriram a este, e o expulsaram.
13 So the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What should I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’
13 Então, disse o senhor da vinha: O que eu farei? Enviarei o meu filho amado; talvez, vendo-o, o respeitem.
14 But when the tenant farmers saw him, they began to reason with one another, saying, ‘This is the heir. Let us kill him so that the inheritance will become ours!’
14 Mas, vendo-o os lavradores, eles arrazoaram entre si dizendo: Este é o herdeiro; vinde, matemo-lo, para que a herança seja nossa.
15 And they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
15 Assim, eles lançaram-no fora da vinha, e o mataram. O que lhes fará, pois, o senhor da vinha?
16 He will come and destroy those tenant farmers and give the vineyard to others.” And when they heard this, they said, “May this never happen!”
16 Ele virá e destruirá esses lavradores, e dará a vinha a outros. E, ouvindo eles isso, disseram: Deus o proíba!
17 But he looked intently at them and said, “What then is this that is written: ‘The stone which the builders rejected, this has become ⌞the cornerstone⌟.’
17 E ele observando-os, disse: Então, o que é isto que está escrito: A pedra que os edificadores rejeitaram, essa se tornou a cabeça de esquina?
18 Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, and the one on whom it falls—it will crush him!”
18 Qualquer que cair sobre aquela pedra será despedaçado, mas naquele em que ela cair, ela triturará ao pó.
19 And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay their hands on him at that same hour, and they were afraid of the people, for they knew that he had told this parable with reference to them.
19 E os principais sacerdotes e os escribas procuraram lançar mão dele naquela mesma hora, mas eles temiam o povo; pois perceberam que ele tinha falado a parábola contra eles.
20 And they watched him closely and sent spies who pretended they were upright, in order that they could catch him in a statement, so that they could hand him over to the authority and the jurisdiction of the governor.
20 E, eles vigiando-o, enviaram espiões, os quais se fingiam de homens justos, para o apanharem em alguma palavra, e o entregarem ao poder e à autoridade do governador.
21 And they asked him, saying, “Teacher, we know that you speak and teach rightly, and do not ⌞show partiality⌟, but teach the way of God in truth.
21 E eles perguntaram-lhe, dizendo: Mestre, nós sabemos que tu falas e ensinas retamente, e que não fazes acepção de pessoas, mas ensinas o caminho de Deus verdadeiramente;
22 Is it permitted for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”
22 é lícito dar tributo a César ou não?
23 But seeing through their craftiness, he said to them,
23 Mas, ele percebendo a sua astúcia, disse-lhes: Por que vós me tentais?
24 “Show me a denarius! Whose image and inscription does it have?” And they answered and said, “Caesar’s.”
24 Mostrai-me uma moeda. De quem é a imagem e a inscrição? E, eles respondendo, disseram: De César.
25 So he said to them, “Well then, give to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God!”
25 E ele lhes disse: Dai, pois, a César as coisas que são de César, e a Deus as coisas que são de Deus.
26 And they were not able to catch him in a statement in the sight of the people, and astonished at his answer, they became silent.
26 E eles não puderam tomá-lo em suas palavras diante do povo; e eles maravilhados da sua resposta, calaram-se.
27 Now some of the Sadducees—who deny ⌞that there is a resurrection⌟—came up and asked him,
27 Então, chegaram-se a ele alguns dos saduceus, que negam haver ressurreição, e eles perguntaram-lhe,
28 saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us if someone’s brother dies having a wife, and this man is childless, that his brother should take the wife and ⌞father⌟ descendants for his brother.
28 dizendo: Mestre, Moisés nos escreveu que, se morresse o irmão de um homem, tendo esposa, e ele não deixasse filhos, seu irmão tomasse a esposa dele, e levantasse descendência a seu irmão.
29 Now there were seven brothers, and the first took a wife and died childless,
29 Houve, pois, sete irmãos; e o primeiro tomou uma mulher, e morreu sem filhos.
30 and the second,
30 E o segundo a tomou como esposa, e morreu sem filhos.
31 and the third took her, and likewise also the seven did not leave children and died.
31 E o terceiro a tomou, e semelhantemente também os sete, e eles não tiveram filhos e morreram.
32 Finally the woman also died.
32 E depois de todos, a mulher também morreu.
33 Therefore in the resurrection, the woman—whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as wife.”
33 Portanto, na ressurreição, de qual deles será a mulher? Pois os sete a tiveram por esposa.
34 And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage,
34 E, Jesus respondendo, disse-lhes: Os filhos deste mundo casam-se, e dão-se em casamento;
35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage,
35 mas os que são considerados dignos de alcançar o mundo vindouro, e a ressurreição dos mortos, não se casam, nem se dão em casamento;
36 for they are not even able to die any longer, because they are like the angels and are sons of God, because they are sons of the resurrection.
36 nem podem mais morrer; porque são iguais aos anjos, e são filhos de Deus, sendo filhos da ressurreição.
37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses revealed in the passage about the bush, when he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.
37 Agora que os mortos hão de ressuscitar, até Moisés o mostrou no arbusto, quando ele chamou ao Senhor Deus de Abraão, e Deus de Isaque, e Deus de Jacó.
38 Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him!”
38 Porque ele não é Deus de mortos, mas de vivos; porque todos vivem para ele.
39 And some of the scribes answered and said, “Teacher, you have spoken well.”
39 Então, alguns dos escribas disseram, respondendo-lhe: Mestre, tu dissestes bem.
40 For they no longer dared to ask him anything.
40 E depois disso, eles não ousaram perguntar-lhe questão nenhuma.
41 But he said to them, “In what sense do they say that the Christ is David’s son?
41 E ele lhes disse: Como eles dizem que Cristo é filho de Davi?
42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,
42 E o próprio Davi disse no livro dos Salmos: O SENHOR disse ao meu Senhor: Assenta-te à minha direita,
43 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” ’
43 até que eu faça dos teus inimigos teu escabelo.
44 David therefore calls him ‘Lord,’ and how is he his son?”
44 Portanto, se Davi mesmo lhe chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
45 And while all the people were listening, he said to the disciples,
45 Então, ouvindo-o todo o povo, ele disse aos seus discípulos:
46 “Beware of the scribes, who like walking around in long robes and who love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets,
46 Cuidado com os escribas, que querem andar com vestes compridas, e amam saudações nos mercados, e os principais assentos nas sinagogas, e os principais lugares nos banquetes;
47 who devour the houses of widows and pray lengthy prayers for the sake of appearance. These will receive more severe condemnation!”
47 que devoram as casas das viúvas, e, por aparência, fazem longas orações; estes receberão maior condenação.
