1 Am not I an apostle? am not I free? Jesus Christ our Lord have I not seen? my work are not you in the Lord?
1 Não sou eu livre? Não sou apóstolo? Não vi Jesus nosso Senhor? Não sois vós minha obra no Senhor?
2 if to others I am not an apostle -- yet doubtless to you I am; for the seal of my apostleship are you in the Lord.
2 Se para outros não sou apóstolo, ao menos para vós o sou, porque vós sois no Senhor o selo do meu apostolado.
3 My defence to those who examine me in this;
3 Esta é a minha defesa contra os que me denigrem.
4 have we not authority to eat and to drink?
4 Não temos nós porventura o direito de comer e beber?
5 have we not authority a sister -- a wife -- to lead about, as also the other apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
5 Acaso não temos nós direito de deixar que nos acompanhe uma mulher irmã, a exemplo dos outros apóstolos e dos irmãos do Senhor e de Cefas?
6 or only I and Barnabas, have we not authority -- not to work?
6 Ou só eu e Barnabé não temos direito de deixar o trabalho?
7 who does serve as a soldier at his own charges at any time? who does plant a vineyard, and of its fruit does not eat? or who does feed a flock, and of the milk of the flock does not eat?
7 Quem, jamais, vai à guerra à sua custa? Quem planta uma vinha e não come do seu fruto? Quem apascenta um rebanho e não se alimenta do leite do rebanho?
8 According to man do I speak these things? or does not also the law say these things?
8 Trata-se, acaso, de simples norma entre os homens? Ou a lei não diz também o mesmo?
9 for in the law of Moses it has been written, 'you shalt not muzzle an ox treading out corn;' for the oxen does God care?
9 Na Lei de Moisés está escrito: Não atarás a boca ao boi que debulha {Dt 25,4}. Acaso Deus tem dó dos bois?
10 or because of us by all means does He say it? yes, because of us it was written, because in hope ought the plower to plow, and he who is treading ought of his hope to partake in hope.
10 Não é, na realidade, em atenção a nós que ele diz isto? Sim! É por nós que está escrito. Quem trabalha deve trabalhar com esperança e igualmente quem debulha deve debulhar com esperança de receber a sua parte.
11 If we to you the spiritual things did sow -- great is it if we your fleshly things do reap?
11 Se entre vós semeamos bens espirituais, será, porventura, demasiada exigência colhermos de vossos bens materiais?
12 if others do partake of the authority over you -- not we more? but we did not use this authority, but all things we bear, that we may give no hindrance to the good news of the Christ.
12 Se outros se arrogam este direito sobre vós, não o temos muito mais? Entretanto, não temos feito uso deste direito: sofremos tudo para não pôr obstáculo algum ao Evangelho de Cristo.
13 Have you not known that those working about the things of the temple -- of the temple do eat, and those waiting at the altar -- with the altar are partakers?
13 Não sabeis que os ministros do culto vivem do culto, e que os que servem ao altar participam do altar?
14 so also did the Lord direct to those proclaiming the good news: of the good news to live.
14 Assim também ordenou o Senhor que os que anunciam o Evangelho vivam do Evangelho.
15 And I have used none of these things; neither did I write these things that it may be so done in my case, for it is good for me rather to die, than that any one may make my glorying void;
15 Mas não tenho usado de nenhum desses direitos; e nem escrevo isto para reclamá-los. Preferiria morrer a... Mas ninguém me tirará este título de glória.
16 for if I may proclaim good news, it is no glorying for me, for necessity is laid upon me, and woe is to me if I may not proclaim good news;
16 Anunciar o Evangelho não é glória para mim; é uma obrigação que se me impõe. Ai de mim, se eu não anunciar o Evangelho!
17 for if willing I do this, I have a reward; and if unwillingly -- with a stewardship I have been entrusted!
17 Se o fizesse de minha iniciativa, mereceria recompensa. Se o faço independentemente de minha vontade, é uma missão que me foi imposta.
18 What, then, is my reward? -- that proclaiming good news, without charge I shall make the good news of the Christ, not to abuse my authority in the good news;
18 Então em que consiste a minha recompensa? Em que, na pregação do Evangelho, o anuncio gratuitamente, sem usar do direito que esta pregação me confere.
19 for being free from all men, to all men I made myself servant, that the more I might gain;
19 Embora livre de sujeição de qualquer pessoa, eu me fiz servo de todos para ganhar o maior número possível.
20 and I became to the Jews as a Jew, that Jews I might gain; to those under law as under law, that those under law I might gain;
20 Para os judeus fiz-me judeu, a fim de ganhar os judeus. Para os que estão debaixo da lei, fiz-me como se eu estivesse debaixo da lei, embora o não esteja, a fim de ganhar aqueles que estão debaixo da lei.
21 to those without law, as without law -- (not being without law to God, but within law to Christ) -- that I might gain those without law;
21 Para os que não têm lei, fiz-me como se eu não tivesse lei, ainda que eu não esteja isento da lei de Deus - porquanto estou sob a lei de Cristo -, a fim de ganhar os que não têm lei.
22 I became to the infirm as infirm, that the infirm I might gain; to all men I have become all things, that by all means I may save some.
22 Fiz-me fraco com os fracos, a fim de ganhar os fracos. Fiz-me tudo para todos, a fim de salvar a todos.
23 And this I do because of the good news, that a fellow-partaker of it I may become;
23 E tudo isso faço por causa do Evangelho, para dele me fazer participante.
24 have you not known that those running in a race -- all indeed run, but one does receive the prize? so run you, that you may obtain;
24 Nas corridas de um estádio, todos correm, mas bem sabeis que um só recebe o prêmio. Correi, pois, de tal maneira que o consigais.
25 and every one who is striving, is in all things temperate; these, indeed, then, that a corruptible crown they may receive, but we an incorruptible;
25 Todos os atletas se impõem a si muitas privações; e o fazem para alcançar uma coroa corruptível. Nós o fazemos por uma coroa incorruptível.
26 I, therefore, thus run, not as uncertainly, thus I fight, as not beating air;
26 Assim, eu corro, mas não sem rumo certo. Dou golpes, mas não no ar.
27 but I chastise my body, and bring it into servitude, lest by any means, having preached to others -- I myself may become disapproved.
27 Ao contrário, castigo o meu corpo e o mantenho em servidão, de medo de vir eu mesmo a ser excluído depois de eu ter pregado aos outros.
