1 But, seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain,and, when he had taken a seat, his disciples came unto him;
1 E Jesus, vendo a multidão, subiu a um monte, e, assentando-se, aproximaram-se dele os seus discípulos;
2 and, opening his mouth, he began teaching them, saying:
2 E, abrindo a sua boca, os ensinava, dizendo:
3 Happy, the destitute, in spirit; for, theirs, is the kingdom of the heavens;
3 Bem-aventurados os pobres de espírito, porque deles é o reino dos céus;
4 Happy, they who mourn; for, they, shall be comforted:
4 Bem-aventurados os que choram, porque eles serão consolados;
5 Happy, the meek; for, they, shall inherit the earth:
5 Bem-aventurados os mansos, porque eles herdarão a terra;
6 Happy, they who hunger and thirst for righteousness; for, they, shall be filled:
6 Bem-aventurados os que têm fome e sede de justiça, porque eles serão fartos;
7 Happy, the merciful; for, they, shall receive mercy:
7 Bem-aventurados os misericordiosos, porque eles alcançarão misericórdia;
8 Happy, the pure, in heart; for, they, shall, see God:
8 Bem-aventurados os limpos de coração, porque eles verão a Deus;
9 Happy, the peacemakers; for, they, shall be, called sons of God:
9 Bem-aventurados os pacificadores, porque eles serão chamados filhos de Deus;
10 Happy, they who have been persecuted for righteousness sake; for, theirs, is the kingdom of the heavens.
10 Bem-aventurados os que sofrem perseguição por causa da justiça, porque deles é o reino dos céus;
11 Happy, are ye, whensoever they may reproach you and persecute you, and say every evil thing against you, falsely, for my sake:
11 Bem-aventurados sois vós, quando vos injuriarem e perseguirem e, mentindo, disserem todo o mal contra vós por minha causa.
12 Rejoice and exult, because, your reward, is great in the heavens; for, so, persecuted they the prophets who were before you.
12 Exultai e alegrai-vos, porque é grande o vosso galardão nos céus; porque assim perseguiram os profetas que foram antes de vós.
13 Ye, are the salt of the earth; but, if the salt become tasteless, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good, for nothing, any more, save, being cast out, to be trampled on by men.
13 Vós sois o sal da terra; e se o sal for insípido, com que se há de salgar? Para nada mais presta senão para se lançar fora, e ser pisado pelos homens.
14 Ye, are the light of the world: it is impossible for a city to be hid, on the top of a mountain, lying.
14 Vós sois a luz do mundo; não se pode esconder uma cidade edificada sobre um monte;
15 Neither light they a lamp, and place it under the measure; but upon the lampstand, and it giveth light to all that are in the house.
15 Nem se acende a candeia e se coloca debaixo do alqueire, mas no velador, e dá luz a todos que estão na casa.
16 In like manner, let your light shine before men,that they may see your good works,and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
16 Assim resplandeça a vossa luz diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras e glorifiquem a vosso Pai, que está nos céus.
17 Do not think, that I came to pull down the law, or the prophets,I came not to pull down, but to fulfil.
17 Não cuideis que vim destruir a lei ou os profetas: não vim abrogar, mas cumprir.
18 For, verily, I say unto you, until the heaven and the earth shall pass away, one least letter, or one point, may in nowise pass away from the law, till all be accomplished.
18 Porque em verdade vos digo que, até que o céu e a terra passem, nem um jota ou um til jamais passará da lei, sem que tudo seja cumprido.
19 Whosoever, therefore, shall relax one of these commandments, the least, and teach men so, shall be called, least, in the kingdom of the heavens; but, whosoever shall do and teach, the same, shall be called, great, in the kingdom of the heavens.
19 Qualquer, pois, que violar um destes mandamentos, por menor que seja, e assim ensinar aos homens, será chamado o menor no reino dos céus; aquele, porém, que os cumprir e ensinar será chamado grande no reino dos céus.
20 For I say unto you, that, unless your righteousness exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees, in nowise, may ye enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
20 Porque vos digo que, se a vossa justiça não exceder a dos escribas e fariseus, de modo nenhum entrareis no reino dos céus.
21 Ye have heard, that it was said, to them of olden time,Thou shalt not commit murder, and, whosoever shall commit murder, shall be, liable, to judgment.
21 Ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não matarás; mas qualquer que matar será réu de juízo.
22 But, I, say unto you, that, every one who is angry with his brother, shall be, liable, to judgment,and, whosoever shall say to his brother, Worthless one!, shall be, liable, to the high council; and, whosoever shall say, Rebel!, shall be, liable, unto the fiery gehenna.
22 Eu, porém, vos digo que qualquer que, sem motivo, se encolerizar contra seu irmão, será réu de juízo; e qualquer que disser a seu irmão: Raca, será réu do sinédrio; e qualquer que lhe disser: Louco, será réu do fogo do inferno.
23 If, therefore, thou be bearing thy gift towards the altar, and, there, shouldst remember that, thy brother, hath aught against thee,
23 Portanto, se trouxeres a tua oferta ao altar, e aí te lembrares de que teu irmão tem alguma coisa contra ti,
24 leave, there, thy gift before the altar, and withdraw,first, be reconciled unto thy brother, and, then, coming, be offering thy gift.
24 Deixa ali diante do altar a tua oferta, e vai reconciliar-te primeiro com teu irmão e, depois, vem e apresenta a tua oferta.
25 Be making agreement with thine adversary, quickly, while thou art with him, in the way,lest once thine adversary deliver thee up unto the judge, and the judge, unto the officer, and, into prison, thou be cast.
25 Concilia-te depressa com o teu adversário, enquanto estás no caminho com ele, para que não aconteça que o adversário te entregue ao juiz, e o juiz te entregue ao oficial, e te encerrem na prisão.
26 Verily, I say unto thee, In nowise, mayest thou come out from thence, until thou pay the last halfpenny.
26 Em verdade te digo que de maneira nenhuma sairás dali enquanto não pagares o último ceitil.
27 Ye have heard, that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
27 Ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não cometerás adultério.
28 But, I, say unto you, that, Every one who looketh on a woman so as to covet her, already, hath committed adultery with her, in his heart.
28 Eu, porém, vos digo, que qualquer que atentar numa mulher para a cobiçar, já em seu coração cometeu adultério com ela.
29 And, if, thy right eye, is causing thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee,for it profiteth thee, that, one of thy members, should perish, and not, thy whole body, be cast into gehenna.
29 Portanto, se o teu olho direito te escandalizar, arranca-o e atira-o para longe de ti; pois te é melhor que se perca um dos teus membros do que seja todo o teu corpo lançado no inferno.
30 And, if, thy right hand, is causing thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee,for it profiteth thee, that, one of thy members, should perish, and not, thy whole body, into gehenna, depart.
30 E, se a tua mão direita te escandalizar, corta-a e atira-a para longe de ti, porque te é melhor que um dos teus membros se perca do que seja todo o teu corpo lançado no inferno.
31 It was said, moreover, Whosoever shall divorce his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement;
31 Também foi dito: Qualquer que deixar sua mulher, dê-lhe carta de divórcio.
32 But, I, say unto you, that, Everyone who divorceth his wifesaving for unfaithfulness, causeth her to be made an adulteress, and, whosoever shall marry a divorced woman, committeth adultery .
32 Eu, porém, vos digo que qualquer que repudiar sua mulher, a não ser por causa de fornicação, faz que ela cometa adultério, e qualquer que casar com a repudiada comete adultério.
33 Again, ye have heard that it was said, to them of olden time, Thou shalt not swear falsely,but shalt render unto the Lord, thine oaths.
33 Outrossim, ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não perjurarás, mas cumprirás os teus juramentos ao Senhor.
34 But, I, tell younot to swear, at all: Neither by heaven, because it is the, throne of God,
34 Eu, porém, vos digo que de maneira nenhuma jureis; nem pelo céu, porque é o trono de Deus;
35 Nor by the earth, because it is his, footstool; nor by Jerusalem, because, it is the, city, of the Great King;
35 Nem pela terra, porque é o escabelo de seus pés; nem por Jerusalém, porque é a cidade do grande Rei;
36 Nor, by thine own head, mayest thou swear, because thou art not able to make, one hair, white or black.
36 Nem jurarás pela tua cabeça, porque não podes tornar um cabelo branco ou preto.
37 But let your word be, Yea, yea,Nay, nay; and, what goeth beyond these, is, of evil.
37 Seja, porém, o vosso falar: Sim, sim; Não, não; porque o que passa disto é de procedência maligna.
38 Ye have heard, that it was said,Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.
38 Ouvistes que foi dito: Olho por olho, e dente por dente.
39 But, I, tell you, not to resist evil,Nay, whoever is smiting thee on the right cheek, turn to him, the other also;
39 Eu, porém, vos digo que não resistais ao mau; mas, se qualquer te bater na face direita, oferece-lhe também a outra;
40 And, him who is desiring thee to be judged, and to take, thy tunic, let him have, thy mantle also.
40 E, ao que quiser pleitear contigo, e tirar-te a túnica, larga-lhe também a capa;
41 And, whoever shall impress thee one mile, go with him two:
41 E, se qualquer te obrigar a caminhar uma milha, vai com ele duas.
42 To him who is asking thee, give; and, him who is desiring from thee to borrow, do not thou turn away.
42 Dá a quem te pedir, e não te desvies daquele que quiser que lhe emprestes.
43 Ye have heard, that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
43 Ouvistes que foi dito: Amarás o teu próximo, e odiarás o teu inimigo.
44 But, I, say unto you, Be loving your enemies, and praying for them who are persecuting you:
44 Eu, porém, vos digo: Amai a vossos inimigos, bendizei os que vos maldizem, fazei bem aos que vos odeiam, e orai pelos que vos maltratam e vos perseguem; para que sejais filhos do vosso Pai que está nos céus;
45 That ye may become sons of your Father who is in the heavens: because, his sun, he maketh arise on evil and good, and sendeth rain, on just and unjust.
45 Porque faz que o seu sol se levante sobre maus e bons, e a chuva desça sobre justos e injustos.
46 For, if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? are not, even the tax-collectors, the same thing, doing?
46 Pois, se amardes os que vos amam, que galardão tereis? Não fazem os publicanos também o mesmo?
47 And, if ye salute your brethren only, what, more than common, are ye doing? are not, even the nations, the same thing, doing?
47 E, se saudardes unicamente os vossos irmãos, que fazeis de mais? Não fazem os publicanos também assim?
48 Ye, therefore, shall become, perfect: as, your heavenly Father, is perfect.
48 Sede vós pois perfeitos, como é perfeito o vosso Pai que está nos céus.
