1 And it came to pass, when he entered into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees, on a Sabbath, to eat bread, that, they, were narrowly watching him.
1 E aconteceu que, entrando ele na casa de um dos principais fariseus para comer pão no dia do shabat, eles o estavam observando.
2 And lo! there was, a certain man, who had the dropsy, before him.
2 E eis que estava ali diante dele um certo homem hidrópico.
3 And Jesus, answering, spake unto the Lawyers and Pharisees, sayingIs it allowed, on the Sabbath, to cure, or not? But, they, held their peace.
3 E Jesus, respondendo, falou aos doutores da lei e aos fariseus, dizendo: É lícito curar no dia do shabat?
4 And taking hold he healed and dismissed him,
4 E eles calaram-se. E tomando-o, ele o curou e o deixou ir;
5 and, unto them, saidWhich of you, shall have a son or an ox that, into a pit, shall fall, and will not straightway pull him up, on the day of rest?
5 e perguntou-lhes, dizendo: Qual será de vós que, tendo um jumento ou boi que caindo em um poço, não o retira imediatamente no dia do shabat?
6 And they could not return an answer unto these things.
6 E, novamente, eles não puderam lhe responder acerca dessas coisas.
7 And he went on to speak, unto the invited, a parable,observing how, the first couches, they were choosing; saying unto them
7 E ele propôs aos convidados uma parábola, reparando como eles escolhiam os principais lugares, dizendo-lhes:
8 Whensoever thou hast been invited by anyone unto a marriage feast, do not recline on the first couch; lest once, a more honourable than thou, have been invited by him,
8 Quando tu fores convidado por algum homem para as bodas, não te assentes no primeiro lugar, para que não aconteça que esteja convidado um homem mais honrado do que tu,
9 and he that invited both thee and him should come, and say unto theeGive, unto this one, place! and, then, thou shouldst begin, with shame, the last place, to occupy.
9 e, vindo o que convidou a ti e a ele, te diga: Dá o lugar a este homem; e então com vergonha, tenhas de tomar um lugar inferior.
10 But, whensoever thou hast been invited, pass on and fall back into the last place, that, whensoever he that hath invited thee shall come, he may say unto theeFriend! come close up, higher. Then, shalt thou have honour before all who are reclining together with thee.
10 Mas, quando fores convidado, vai e assenta-te no lugar inferior, para que, quando vier o que te convidou, ele possa te dizer: Amigo, sobe para cá. Então, terás honra diante dos que estiverem assentados contigo na mesa.
11 Because, everyone who exalteth himself, shall be abased; and, he that abaseth himself, shall be exalted?
11 Porque, qualquer que se exaltar a si mesmo, será humilhado, e aquele que se humilhar a si mesmo, será exaltado.
12 Moreover he went on to say, unto him also who had invited him,Whensoever thou mayest be making a dinner or a supper, do not call thy friends, or thy brothers, or thy kinsfolk, or rich neighbours,lest once, they also, invite thee in return, and it become a recompense unto thee.
12 E ele disse também ao que o havia convidado: Quando deres um jantar ou uma ceia, não chames os teus amigos, nem os teus irmãos, nem os teus parentes, nem os teus vizinhos ricos, para que não aconteça que eles também te tornem a convidar, e te seja recompensado.
13 But, whensoever, an entertainment, thou mayest be making, invite the destitute, the tried, the lame, the blind;
13 Mas, quando tu deres um banquete, chama os pobres, aleijados, mancos e cegos;
14 and, happy, shalt thou be, that they have not wherewith to recompense thee, for it shall be recompensed unto thee, in the resurrection of the righteous.
14 e tu serás abençoado; porque eles não podem te recompensar; pois tu serás recompensado na ressurreição dos justos.
15 And one of those reclining together, hearing these things, said unto himHappy, whoever shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!
15 E, ao ouvir estas coisas, um dos que estavam assentados com ele à mesa, disse-lhe: Abençoado é o que comer pão no reino de Deus.
16 But, he, said unto himA certain man, was making a great supper, and invited many;
16 Então, ele lhe disse: Certo homem fez uma grande ceia e convidou a muitos;
17 and he sent out his servant, at the hour of the supper, to say unto the invitedBe coming! because, even now, is it, ready.
17 e enviou seu servo, na hora da ceia, para dizer aos convidados: Vinde, pois todas as coisas estão preparadas.
18 And they all began, one after another to excuse themselves. The first, said unto himA field, have I bought, and have need to go out and see it: I request thee, hold me excused.
18 E todos em consenso começaram a dar desculpas. O primeiro disse-lhe: Eu comprei um pedaço de terra, e preciso ir vê-lo; peço-te que me desculpes.
19 And, another, saidFive yoke of oxen, have I bought, and am going my way to prove them; I request thee, hold me excused.
19 E outro disse: Eu comprei cinco juntas de bois, e vou examiná-las; peço-te que me desculpe.
20 And, another, saidA wife, have I married, and, for this cause, I cannot come!
20 E outro disse: Casei-me e, portanto, não posso ir.
21 And, going near, the servant reported unto his lord these things. Then, provoked to anger, the master of the house said unto his servantGo out quickly, into the broadways and streets of the city,and, the destitute, and tried, and blind, and lame, bring thou in here.
21 E, vindo aquele servo, anunciou essas coisas ao seu senhor. Então, o dono da casa, irritado, disse ao seu servo: Sai depressa pelas ruas e becos da cidade e traze aqui os pobres, e os aleijados, e os coxos, e os cegos.
22 And the servant saidLord! what thou didst order, hath been done; and, yet, there is, room.
22 E disse o servo: Senhor, está feito como tu ordenaste, e ainda há lugar.
23 And the lord said unto the servantGo out among the highways and fences, and compel them to come in; that my house may be filled.
23 E disse o senhor ao servo: Sai pelas estradas e sendas, e obriga-os a entrar, para que a minha casa possa estar cheia.
24 For, I say unto youNot one of those men who had been invited, shall taste of my supper.
24 Porque eu vos digo: Que nenhum daqueles homens que foram convidados provará a minha ceia.
25 And there were journeying together with him many multitudes; and, turning, he said unto them
25 E iam com ele grandes multidões; e, voltando-se, disse-lhes:
26 If anyone cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, further also, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.
26 Se algum homem vier a mim, e não aborrecer a seu pai, e mãe, e esposa, e filhos, e irmãos, e irmãs, sim, e também a sua própria vida, ele não pode ser meu discípulo.
27 Whoever beareth not his own cross, and cometh after me, cannot be my disciple.
27 E quem não carregar a sua cruz, e não vir após mim, não pode ser meu discípulo.
28 For, who from among you, wishing to build a tower, doth not first sit down and count the cost,whether he hath sufficient for completion;
28 Porque qual de vós, querendo edificar uma torre, não se assenta primeiro para calcular o seu custo, para ver se tem o suficiente para acabá-la?
29 lest once, he having laid a foundation, and not being able to finish, all who are looking on, should begin to mock at him,
29 Para não acontecer que, depois de haver posto os alicerces, e não sendo capaz de acabá-la, todos os que a virem comecem a escarnecer dele,
30 sayingThis man, began to build, and was not able to finish!
30 dizendo: Este homem começou a edificar e não foi capaz de acabar.
31 Or, what king, moving on to encounter, another king, in battle, will not sit down first and take counsel, whether he is able, with ten thousand, to meet him who, with twenty thousand, is coming against him.
31 Ou qual é o rei que, indo guerrear contra outro rei, não se assenta primeiro a se aconselhar se com dez mil é capaz de sair ao encontro do que vem contra ele com vinte mil?
32 And, if not, by any means, while he is yet afar off, he sendeth, an embassy, and requesteth the conditions of peace.
32 Do contrário, estando o outro ainda longe, ele envia embaixadores e pede condições de paz.
33 Thus, therefore, everyone from amongst you, who doth not bid adieu unto all his own possessions, cannot be my disciple.
33 Assim, pois, qualquer de vós que não renunciar a tudo quanto tem, não pode ser meu discípulo.
34 Good, therefore is the salt; but, if, even the salt, become tasteless, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
34 Sal é bom; mas, se ele perder o sabor, com que se há de temperar?
35 Neither for land nor for manure, is it, fit: outside, they cast it! He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
35 Nem servirá para a terra, nem para adubo; mas homens lançam-no fora. Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, que ouça.
