1 And Yahweh responded to Job, and said:
1 Então o S enhor disse a Jó:
2 Shall a reprover contend, with the Almighty? He that disputeth with GOD, let him answer it!
2 “Ainda quer discutir com o Todo-poderoso? Você critica Deus, mas será que tem as respostas?”.
3 Then Job responded to Yahweh, and said:
3 Então Jó respondeu ao S enhor :
4 Lo! I am of no account, what shall I reply to thee? My hand, have I laid on my mouth:
4 “Eu não sou nada; como poderia encontrar as respostas? Cobrirei minha boca com a mão.
5 Once, have I spoken, but I will not proceed, yea twice, but I will not add.
5 Já falei demais; não tenho mais nada a dizer”.
6 So then Yahweh responded to Job, out of a storm, and said:
6 Então, do meio do redemoinho, o S enhor respondeu a Jó:
7 Gird, I pray theeas a strong manthy loins, I will ask thee, and inform thou me.
7 “Prepare-se como um guerreiro, pois lhe farei algumas perguntas, e você responderá.
8 Wilt thou even frustrate my justice? Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest appear right?
8 “Porá em dúvida minha justiça e me condenará só para provar que tem razão?
9 But if, an arm like GOD, thou hast, and, with a voice like his, thou canst thunder,
9 Você é tão forte quanto Deus? Sua voz pode trovejar como a dele?
10 Deck thyself, I pray thee, with majesty and grandeur, Yea, with dignity and splendour, thou shalt clothe thyself;
10 Então vista-se de glória e esplendor, de honra e majestade.
11 Pour out thy transports of anger, and look on every one who is high, and lay him low;
11 Dê vazão à sua ira, deixe-a transbordar contra os orgulhosos.
12 Look on every one who is high, and humble him, yea tread down the lawless, on the spot:
12 Humilhe-os com um olhar, pise os perversos onde estiverem.
13 Hide them in the dust all together, Their faces, bind thou in darkness;
13 Enterre-os no pó, prenda-os no mundo dos mortos.
14 And, even I myself, will praise thee, in that thine own right hand can bring thee salvation.
14 Então eu mesmo reconheceria que você pode se salvar por sua própria força.
15 Behold, I pray thee, the Hippopotamus, which I made with thee, Grasslike the ox, he eateth;
15 “Veja o Beemote, que eu criei, assim como criei você; ele come capim, como o boi.
16 Behold, I pray thee, his strength in his loins, and his force, in the muscles of his belly;
16 Veja a força que ele tem nos lombos e o vigor nos músculos da barriga.
17 He bendeth down his tail like a cedar, the sinews of his thighs, are twisted together;
17 Sua cauda é forte como o cedro, e os tendões de suas coxas são entrelaçados.
18 His bones, are barrels of bronze, his frame, is like hammered bars of iron:
18 Seus ossos são canos de bronze, e suas pernas, barras de ferro.
19 He, is the beginning of the ways of GOD, Let his maker, present him his sword:
19 É ótimo exemplo das obras de Deus, e somente seu Criador é capaz de ameaçá-lo.
20 Surely the mountains bring, produce, to him, where, all the wild beasts of the field, do play;
20 Os montes lhe oferecem seu melhor alimento, e ali brincam os animais selvagens.
21 Under the lotus-trees, he lieth down, in a covert of reed and swamp;
21 Ele se deita sob arbustos espinhosos, onde os juncos do brejo o escondem.
22 The lotus-trees cover him with their shade, the willows of the torrent-bed compass him about;
22 Os arbustos lhe dão sombra entre os salgueiros junto ao riacho.
23 Lo! the river becometh insolenthe is not alarmed! He is confident, though a Jordan burst forth to his mouth:
23 Ele não se perturba com as enchentes do rio, nem se preocupa quando o Jordão transborda e se agita ao redor.
24 Before his eyes, shall he be caught? With a hook, can one pierce his nose?
24 Ninguém o pega de surpresa, nem lhe prende um anel no nariz.”
