¹ Then responded Job, and said:

² How hast thou given help to one of no-strength? given victory to an arm of no-power?

² “Como você sabe ajudar o que não tem força! Como você sabe socorrer o braço que não tem vigor!

³ How hast thou given counsel to one of no-wisdom? or, effective wisdom, abundantly made known?

³ Como você sabe aconselhar o que não tem sabedoria e revelar plenitude de verdadeiro conhecimento!

⁴ Whom hast thou taught speech? Whose inspiration hath come from thee?

⁴ Com a ajuda de quem você profere tais palavras? E de quem é o espírito que fala em você?”

⁵ The shades, tremble, beneath the waters and their inhabitants;

⁵ “Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas com os seus moradores.

⁶ Naked is hades before him, and there is no covering to destruction;

⁶ O mundo dos mortos está desnudo diante de Deus, e não há coberta para o abismo.

⁷ Who stretcheth out the north over emptiness, hangeth the earth upon nothingness;

⁷ Ele estende o norte sobre o vazio e faz a terra pairar sobre o nada.

⁸ Who bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not rent beneath them;

⁸ Prende as águas em densas nuvens, e as nuvens não se rasgam debaixo delas.

⁹ Who shutteth-in the face of the throne, he spreadeth over it his cloud;

⁹ Encobre a face do seu trono e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.

¹⁰ A, boundary, hath he encircled on the face of the waters, as far as where light ends in darkness;

¹⁰ Traçou um círculo sobre a superfície das águas, no limite entre a luz e as trevas.

¹¹ The pillars of the heavens, are shaken, and are terrified at his rebuke:

¹¹ As colunas do céu tremem e se espantam diante da sua ameaça.

¹² By his strength, hath he excited the sea, and, by his skill, hath he shattered the Crocodile:

¹² Com a sua força dominou o mar e com o seu entendimento despedaçou o monstro Raabe.

¹³ By his spirit, hath he arched the heavens, His hand hath pierced the fleeing serpent.

¹³ Pelo seu sopro o céu se aclarou, a sua mão feriu a serpente veloz.

¹⁴ Lo! these, are the fringes of his way, and what a whisper of a word hath been heard of him! But, the thunder of his might, who could understand?

¹⁴ Eis que isto são apenas as bordas dos seus caminhos! Dele temos ouvido apenas um leve sussurro! Mas o trovão do seu poder, quem o entenderá?”
