¹ Then responded Job, and said:

¹ Mas Jó respondeu e disse:

² How hast thou given help to one of no-strength? given victory to an arm of no-power?

² Como ajudaste aquele que está sem poder? Como salvas o braço que não tem força?

³ How hast thou given counsel to one of no-wisdom? or, effective wisdom, abundantly made known?

³ Como aconselhaste aquele que não tem sabedoria; e como plenamente declaraste a coisa como ela é?

⁴ Whom hast thou taught speech? Whose inspiration hath come from thee?

⁴ A quem proferiste palavras, e de quem é o espírito que veio de ti?

⁵ The shades, tremble, beneath the waters and their inhabitants;

⁵ Coisas mortas são formadas debaixo das águas, e dos seus habitantes.

⁶ Naked is hades before him, and there is no covering to destruction;

⁶ O inferno está nu perante ele, e a destruição não tem cobertura.

⁷ Who stretcheth out the north over emptiness, hangeth the earth upon nothingness;

⁷ Ele estende o norte sobre o lugar vazio; e suspende a terra sobre o nada.

⁸ Who bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not rent beneath them;

⁸ Ele prende as águas em suas nuvens espessas, e a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.

⁹ Who shutteth-in the face of the throne, he spreadeth over it his cloud;

⁹ Ele retém a face do seu trono, e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.

¹⁰ A, boundary, hath he encircled on the face of the waters, as far as where light ends in darkness;

¹⁰ Cercou as águas com fronteiras, até que o dia e a noite cheguem ao fim.

¹¹ The pillars of the heavens, are shaken, and are terrified at his rebuke:

¹¹ Os pilares do céu tremem e se espantam com sua reprovação

¹² By his strength, hath he excited the sea, and, by his skill, hath he shattered the Crocodile:

¹² Ele divide o mar com o seu poder, e com seu entendimento abate o orgulhoso.

¹³ By his spirit, hath he arched the heavens, His hand hath pierced the fleeing serpent.

¹³ Pelo seu Espírito ele ornou os céus; a sua mão formou a serpente torta.

¹⁴ Lo! these, are the fringes of his way, and what a whisper of a word hath been heard of him! But, the thunder of his might, who could understand?

¹⁴ Eis que estas são partes dos seus caminhos; e quão pouca é a porção do que se ouve dele? Porém o trovão do seu poder, quem consegue entender?
