1 And it came to pass after these things, that one said to Joseph, Lo! thy father, is sick. So he took his two sons with him, Manasseh and Ephraim.
1 Algum tempo depois, disseram a José: "Seu pai está doente"; e ele foi vê-lo, levando consigo seus dois filhos, Manassés e Efraim.
2 And one told Jacob, and saidLo! thy son Joseph, coming in unto thee. So Israel strengthened himself, and sat up on the couch.
2 E anunciaram a Jacó: "Seu filho José veio vê-lo". Israel reuniu suas forças e assentou-se na cama.
3 Then said Jacob unto Joseph, GOD Almighty, appeared unto me in Luz in the land of Canaan,and blessed me;
3 Então disse Jacó a José: "O Deus Todo-poderoso apareceu-me em Luz, na terra de Canaã, e ali me abençoou,
4 and said unto meBehold me! about to make thee fruitful, so will I multiply thee, and give thee to become a multitude of peoples,so will I give this land to thy seed after thee, as an age-abiding possession.
4 dizendo: ‘Eu o farei prolífero e o multiplicarei. Farei de você uma comunidade de povos e darei esta terra por propriedade perpétua aos seus descendentes’.
5 Now, therefore thy two sons who were born to thee in the land of Egypt, before I came in unto thee in Egypt, are Ephraim and Manasseh, like Reuben and Simeon, shall be mine.
5 "Agora, pois, os seus dois filhos que lhe nasceram no Egito, antes da minha vinda para cá, serão reconhecidos como meus; Efraim e Manassés serão meus, como são meus Rúben e Simeão.
6 But thine offspring which thou hast begotten after them, thine own shall they be,after the name of their brethren, shall they be called in their inheritance.
6 Os filhos que lhe nascerem depois deles serão seus; serão convocados sob o nome dos seus irmãos para receberem sua herança.
7 But, as for me, when I came in from Padan, Rachel died by me, in the land of Canaan, in the way, while yet there was a stretch of country to come into Ephrath,so I buried her there in the way to Ephrath, the same, is Bethlehem.
7 Quando eu voltava de Padã, para minha tristeza Raquel morreu em Canaã, quando ainda estávamos a caminho, a pouca distância de Efrata. Eu a sepultei ali, ao lado do caminho para Efrata, que é Belém".
8 Then Israel saw Josephs sons,and saidWho are these?
8 Quando Israel viu os filhos de José, perguntou: "Quem são estes? "
9 And Joseph said unto his father, My sons, they are, whom God hath given me, in this place. And he saidBring them, I pray thee, unto me, that I may bless them.
9 Respondeu José a seu pai: "São os filhos que Deus me deu aqui". Então Israel disse: "Traga-os aqui para que eu os abençoe".
10 Now, the eyes of Israel, had become dim from old age,he could not see,so he drew them near unto him, and kissed them, and embraced them.
10 Os olhos de Israel já estavam enfraquecidos por causa da idade avançada, e ele mal podia enxergar. Por isso José levou seus filhos para perto dele, e seu pai os beijou e os abraçou.
11 And Israel said unto Joseph, To see thine own face, had I not thought,and lo! God hath caused me to see even thy seed!
11 E Israel disse a José: "Nunca pensei que veria a sua face novamente, e agora Deus me concede ver também os seus filhos! "
12 And Joseph brought them out from beside his knees, and bowed himself down with his face towards the earth.
12 Em seguida, José os tirou do colo de Israel e curvou-se, rosto em terra.
13 And Joseph took them both,Ephraim in his right hand on Israels left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand, on Israels right hand, and drew them near unto him.
13 E José tomou os dois, Efraim à sua direita, perto da mão esquerda de Israel, e Manassés à sua esquerda, perto da mão direita de Israel, e os aproximou dele.
14 Then Israel put forth his right hand and laid it upon the head of Ephraim, though, he, was the younger, and his left hand upon the head of Manasseh,crossing his hands, although, Manasseh, was the first-born.
14 Israel, porém, estendeu a mão direita e a pôs sobre a cabeça de Efraim, embora este fosse o mais novo e, cruzando os braços, pôs a mão esquerda sobre a cabeça de Manassés, embora Manassés fosse o filho mais velho.
15 Thus blessed he Joseph, and said,God himselfbefore whom walked my fathers. Abraham and Isaac, God himselfwho hath been my shepherd, since I came into being until this day;
15 E abençoou a José, dizendo: "Que o Deus, a quem serviram meus pais Abraão e Isaque, o Deus que tem sido o meu pastor em toda a minha vida até o dia de hoje,
16 The Messengerwho hath been my redeemer from all evilbless the lads! And may there be called upon them, my name, and the name of my fathers. Abraham and Isaac; And may they swarm into a multitude, in the midst of the earth!
16 o Anjo que me redimiu de todo o mal, abençoe estes meninos. Sejam eles chamados pelo meu nome e pelos nomes de meus pais Abraão e Isaque, e cresçam muito na terra".
17 And Joseph saw that his father had laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim and it was displeasing in his eyes,so he took hold of his fathers hand to remove it from off the bead of Ephraim, on to the head of Manasseh.
17 Quando José viu seu pai colocar a mão direita sobre a cabeça de Efraim, não gostou; por isso pegou a mão do pai, a fim de mudá-la da cabeça de Efraim para a de Manassés,
18 And Joseph said unto his fatherNot so, my father! for, this, is the firstborn, lay thy right hand upon his head.
18 e lhe disse: "Não, meu pai, este aqui é o mais velho; ponha a mão direita sobre a cabeça dele".
19 And his father refused, and saidI knowmy son, I know! He also, shall become a people, and he also, shall become great,but nevertheless, his younger brother, shall become greater than he, and his seed, shall become a filling up of the nations.
19 Mas seu pai recusou-se e respondeu: "Eu sei, meu filho, eu sei. Ele também se tornará um povo, também será grande. Apesar disso, seu irmão mais novo será maior do que ele, e seus descendentes se tornarão muitos povos".
20 And he blessed them on that day, sayingIn thee, let Israel bless himself saying, God set thee as Ephraim, and as Manasseh! So he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
20 Assim, Jacó os abençoou naquele dia, dizendo: "O povo de Israel usará os seus nomes para abençoar uns aos outros: Que Deus faça a você como fez a Efraim e a Manassés! " E colocou Efraim à frente de Manassés.
21 And Israel said unto Joseph: Lo! I, am about to die,but it shall come to pass that, God will be with you, and will take you back into the land of your fathers.
21 A seguir, Israel disse a José: "Estou para morrer, mas Deus estará com vocês e os levará de volta à terra de seus antepassados.
22 But, I, have given to thee one mountain-track above thy brethren,which I took out of the hand of the Amorite, with my sword and with my bow.
22 E a você, como alguém que está acima de seus irmãos, dou a região montanhosa que tomei dos amorreus com a minha espada e com o meu arco".
