1 Then Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him,and commanded him and said to him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
1 Então Isaque mandou chamar Jacó, o abençoou e disse: “Não se case com uma mulher cananita.
2 Rise, go thy way to Padan-aram to the house of Bethuel, thy mothers father,and take thee from thence a wife, of the daughters of Laban, thy mothers brother.
2 Em vez disso, vá de imediato a Padã-Arã, à casa de seu avô Betuel, e case-se com uma das filhas de seu tio Labão.
3 And, GOD Almighty, bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, so shalt thou become a multitude of peoples.
3 Que o Deus Todo-poderoso o abençoe e lhe dê muitos filhos, e que eles se multipliquem e venham a ser muitas nações.
4 And may he give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee,that thou mayest possess the land of thy sojournings, which God gave to Abraham.
4 Que Deus dê a você e a seus descendentes as bênçãos que ele prometeu a Abraão. Que você venha a possuir esta terra na qual vive agora como estrangeiro, pois Deus entregou esta terra a Abraão”.
5 So Isaac sent away Jacob, and he took his journey to Padan-aram,unto Laban son of Bethuel, the Syrian, brother of Rebekah, mother of Jacob and Esau.
5 Assim, Isaque se despediu de Jacó, que foi a Padã-Arã morar com seu tio Labão, irmão de Rebeca, filho de Betuel, o arameu.
6 And Esau beheld that Isaac, when he blessed Jacob, and sent him to Padan-aram, to take to himself from thence a wife, that in blessing him, he laid command upon him, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
6 Esaú soube que seu pai, Isaque, havia abençoado Jacó e o enviado a Padã-Arã para encontrar uma esposa e que, ao abençoá-lo, tinha advertido a seu irmão: “Não se case com uma mulher cananita”.
7 And that Jacob hearkened unto his father and unto his mother,and took his journey to Padan-aram.
7 Também soube que Jacó havia obedecido aos pais e ido a Padã-Arã.
8 So then Esau beheld that displeasing, were the daughters of Caanan,in the eyes of Isaac his father:
8 Quando ficou evidente que seu pai não aprovava as mulheres cananitas,
9 Esau therefore went unto Ishmael,and took Mahalath daughter of Ishmael son of Abraham sister of Nebaioth, to himself to wife, in addition to the wives that he had.
9 Esaú foi visitar a família de seu tio Ismael e, além das duas mulheres cananitas com as quais havia se casado, tomou para si uma das filhas de Ismael. O nome de sua nova mulher era Maalate, irmã de Nebaiote e filha de Ismael, filho de Abraão.
10 So Jacob went forth from Beer-sheba, and journeyed towards Haran.
10 Nesse meio-tempo, Jacó partiu de Berseba e rumou para Harã.
11 And he lighted on a place, and tarried the night there, because the sun had gone in,and he took of the stones of the place, and put for his pillow, and lay down in that place,
11 Quando o sol se pôs, chegou a um bom local para acampar e ali passou a noite. Encontrou uma pedra para descansar a cabeça e se deitou para dormir.
12 And he dreamed, and lo! a stairway, planted earthwards, with, its top, reaching towards the heavens,and lo! messengers of God, ascending and descending thereon;
12 Enquanto dormia, sonhou com uma escada que ia da terra ao céu e viu os anjos de Deus, que subiam e desciam pela escada.
13 and lo! Yahweh, standing by him,and he said, I, am Yahweh, God of Abraham thy father and God of Isaac,The land whereon, thou, art lying, to thee, will I give it and to thy seed;
13 No topo da escada estava o S enhor , que lhe disse: “Eu sou o S enhor , o Deus de seu avô, Abraão, e o Deus de seu pai, Isaque. A terra na qual você está deitado lhe pertence. Eu a darei a você e a seus descendentes.
14 And thy seed shall become as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt break forth westward and eastward, and northward and southward,And all the families of the ground shall be blessed in thee and in thy seed.
14 Seus descendentes serão tão numerosos quanto o pó da terra! Eles se espalharão por todas as direções: leste e oeste, norte e sul. E todas as famílias da terra serão abençoadas por seu intermédio e de sua descendência.
15 Lo! then, I, am with thee, so will I keep thee in every place whithersoever thou mayest go, and will bring thee back unto this soil,For I will not forsake thee until I have done that of which I have spoken to thee.
15 Além disso, estarei com você e o protegerei aonde quer que vá. Um dia, trarei você de volta a esta terra. Não o deixarei enquanto não tiver terminado de lhe dar tudo que prometi”.
16 And Jacob awoke from his sleep, and said. Surely, Yahweh was in this place, And I, knew it not.
16 Então Jacó acordou e disse: “Certamente o S enhor está neste lugar, e eu não havia percebido!”.
17 And he feared and said, How fearful is this place! None other this, than the house of God! Nor this than the gate of the heavens
17 Contudo, também teve medo e disse: “Como é temível este lugar! Não é outro, senão a casa de Deus; é a porta para os céus!”.
18 So Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone which he halt lint for his pillow, and put it for a pillar,and poured out oil upon the top thereof;
18 Na manhã seguinte, Jacó se levantou bem cedo. Pegou a pedra na qual havia descansado a cabeça, colocou-a em pé, como coluna memorial, e derramou azeite de oliva sobre ela.
19 and called the name of that placeBeth-el,nevertheless, Luz, was the name of the city, aforetime.
19 Chamou o lugar de Betel, embora anteriormente se chamasse Luz.
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying,If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way whereon, I, am going, and give me bread to eat and raiment to put on;
20 Então Jacó fez o seguinte voto: “Se, de fato, Deus for comigo e me proteger nesta jornada, se ele me providenciar alimento e roupa,
21 and I come back in prosperity unto the house of my father, Then will Yahweh prove to be my God,
21 e se eu voltar são e salvo à casa de meu pai, então o S enhor certamente será o meu Deus.
22 And, this stone which I have put for a pillar, shall be the house of God,And, of all which thou shalt give me, a tenth, will I tithe unto thee.
22 E esta coluna memorial que eu levantei será um lugar de adoração a Deus, e eu entregarei a Deus a décima parte de tudo que ele me der”.
