1 An elderly man, do not thou reprimand, but beseech him, as father,younger men, as brothers,
1 Não repreenda um homem mais velho, mas o aconselhe como se ele fosse o seu pai. Trate os homens mais jovens como irmãos,
2 Elderly women, as mothers, younger women, as sisters, in all chastity.
2 as mulheres idosas, como mães e as mulheres jovens, como irmãs, com toda a pureza.
3 Widows, honour thouwho indeed are widows:
3 Cuide das viúvas que não tenham ninguém para ajudá-las.
4 Howbeit, if, any widow, hath, children or grandchildren, let them be learningfirst, unto their own house, to be shewing reverence, and, returns, to be making unto their progenitors; for, this, is acceptable before God;
4 Mas, se alguma viúva tem filhos ou netos, são eles que devem primeiro aprender a cumprir os seus deveres religiosos, cuidando da sua própria família. Assim eles pagarão o que receberam dos seus pais e avós, pois Deus gosta disso.
5 But, she who is indeed a widow, and is left alone, hath turned her hope towards God, and is giving attendance unto the supplications and the prayers, night and day,
5 A verdadeira viúva, aquela que não tem ninguém para cuidar dela, põe a sua esperança em Deus e ora, de dia e de noite, pedindo a ajuda dele.
6 Whereas, she that runneth riot, while living, is, dead:
6 Porém a viúva que se entrega ao prazer está morta em vida.
7 And, these things, be giving in charge, that, without reproach, they may be;
7 Timóteo, mande que as viúvas façam o que eu aconselho para que ninguém possa culpá-las de nada.
8 If, however, anyone, for his own, and specially them of his household, taketh not forethought, his faith, hath he denied, and is worse, than one without faith!
8 Porém aquele que não cuida dos seus parentes, especialmente dos da sua própria família, negou a fé e é pior do que os que não creem.
9 Let, a widow, be put on the listhaving become, not less than sixty years old, one mans, wife,
9 Coloque na lista das viúvas somente a que tiver mais de sessenta anos e que tiver casado uma vez só.
10 In noble works, being well-attested;if she hath nourished children, if she hath shewn hospitality, if, saints feet, she hath washed, if, them who were in tribulation, she hath succoured, if, in every good, work she hath followed on:
10 Ela deve ser conhecida como uma mulher que sempre praticou boas ações, criou bem os filhos, hospedou pessoas na sua casa, prestou serviços humildes aos que pertencem ao povo de Deus, ajudou os necessitados, enfim, fez todo tipo de coisas boas.
11 But, younger widows, decline thou; for, as soon as they wax wanton against the Christ, to marry, are they determined,
11 Mas não ponha na lista as viúvas mais jovens; porque, quando os seus desejos fazem com que queiram casar de novo, elas abandonam a Cristo.
12 Having, as sentence,that, their first faith, they have set at nought;
12 E assim elas se tornam culpadas de quebrar a primeira promessa que fizeram a ele .
13 At the same time, to be idlers, are they learning, going about from house to house; and, not only idlers, but, gossips, also, and, busybodies,saying the things they ought not,
13 Além disso, elas se acostumam a não fazer nada e a andar de casa em casa; e, pior ainda, aprendem a ser mexeriqueiras, metendo-se em tudo e falando coisas que não devem.
14 I am minded, therefore, that, the younger ones, marry, bear children, be mistress of the house,giving, no single occasion, unto the opposer, as a cause, of reviling;
14 Por isso, eu quero que as viúvas mais novas casem, tenham filhos e cuidem da sua casa, para que os nossos inimigos não tenham motivos para falar mal de nós.
15 For, already, some have turned aside after Satan:
15 Pois algumas viúvas já se desviaram e seguiram Satanás.
16 If any, believing woman, hath widows, let her be giving them succour, and not suffer the assembly to be burdened,that, them who are indeed widows, it may itself succour.
16 Se alguma mulher cristã tem viúvas na sua família, ela deve ajudá-las. Que ela não ponha essa carga sobre a igreja, para que a igreja possa cuidar das viúvas que não tenham ninguém que as ajude!
17 Let, the well presiding elders, of double honour, be accounted worthy, especially they who toil in discourse and teaching;
17 Os presbíteros que fazem um bom trabalho na igreja merecem pagamento em dobro, especialmente os que se esforçam na pregação do evangelho e no ensino cristão.
18 For the scripture saithA threshing ox, shalt thou not muzzle, andWorthy, is the workman, of his hire.
18 Pois as Escrituras Sagradas dizem: “Não amarre a boca do boi quando ele estiver pisando o trigo.” E dizem ainda: “O trabalhador merece o seu salário.”
19 Against an elder, entertain not, an accusation, except at, two, or three, witnesses;
19 Não aceite nenhuma acusação contra qualquer presbítero, a não ser que ela seja feita por duas testemunhas, pelo menos.
20 But, them who are sinning, before all, do thou reprove, that, the rest also, may have, fear:
20 Repreenda publicamente os presbíteros que cometem pecados, para que os outros fiquem com medo.
21 I adjure thee, before God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen messengers, that, these things, thou observe, apart from prejudgment, doing, nothing, by partiality.
21 Na presença de Deus, de Cristo Jesus e dos santos anjos, eu peço e insisto no seguinte: em tudo o que você fizer, obedeça a estas instruções, sem preconceito contra ninguém e sem favorecer nenhuma pessoa.
22 Hands, suddenly, upon no one, lay, neither have fellowship with sins of strangers: thyself, keep, chaste:
22 Não tenha pressa de colocar as mãos sobre alguém para dedicá-lo ao serviço do Senhor. Não tome parte nos pecados dos outros. Conserve-se puro.
23 No longer, be a water-drinker, but, of a little wine, make use, because of thy stomach and thy, frequent, sicknesses.
23 Já que muitas vezes você tem ficado doente do estômago, não beba somente água, mas beba também um pouco de vinho.
24 Some mens sins, are, openly evident, leading on into judgment, with some, however, they even follow after;
24 Os pecados de algumas pessoas podem ser vistos claramente, antes mesmo de elas serem julgadas. Mas os pecados de outras pessoas só são vistos depois.
25 In the same way, the noble works also, are openly evident,and, they that are otherwise, cannot be hid.
25 Assim também as boas ações são vistas claramente e mesmo aquelas que são difíceis de ver não poderão ficar escondidas para sempre.
