1 I exhort, therefore, first of all, that there be madesupplications, prayers, intercessions, thankgivings, in behalf of all men,
1 Antes de tudo, pois, exorto que se use a prática de súplicas, orações, intercessões, ações de graças, em favor de todos os homens,
2 In behalf of kings, and all them who are, in eminent station; in order that, an undisturbed, and quiet life, we may lead, in all godliness and gravity:
2 em favor dos reis e de todos os que se acham investidos de autoridade, para que vivamos vida tranquila e mansa, com toda piedade e respeito.
3 This, is comely and acceptable before our Saviour God,
3 Isto é bom e aceitável diante de Deus, nosso Salvador,
4 Who willeth, all men, to be saved, and, unto a personal knowledge of truth, to come;
4 o qual deseja que todos os homens sejam salvos e cheguem ao pleno conhecimento da verdade.
5 For there is, one, God, one, mediator also, between God and men,a manChrist Jesus:
5 Porquanto há um só Deus e um só Mediador entre Deus e os homens, Cristo Jesus, homem,
6 Who gave himself a ransom in behalf of all,the testimony, in its own fit times:
6 o qual a si mesmo se deu em resgate por todos: testemunho que se deve prestar em tempos oportunos.
7 Unto which, I, have been appointed proclaimer and apostleTruth I speak, I utter no falsehooda teacher of nations, in faith and truth.
7 Para isto fui designado pregador e apóstolo (afirmo a verdade, não minto), mestre dos gentios na fé e na verdade.
8 I am minded, therefore, thatthe men in every place be offering prayer, uplifting hands of lovingkindness, apart from anger and disputings;
8 Quero, portanto, que os varões orem em todo lugar, levantando mãos santas, sem ira e sem animosidade.
9 In the same way, that, the women, in seemly attire, with modesty and sober-mindedness, be adorning themselves,not with plaitings and ornamentation of gold, or with pearls, or with costly apparel,
9 Da mesma sorte, que as mulheres, em traje decente, se ataviem com modéstia e bom senso, não com cabeleira frisada e com ouro, ou pérolas, ou vestuário dispendioso,
10 But, which becometh women promising godliness, through means of good works.
10 porém com boas obras (como é próprio às mulheres que professam ser piedosas).
11 Let, a woman, in quietness, be learning in all submission;
11 A mulher aprenda em silêncio, com toda a submissão.
12 But, teachingunto a woman, I do not permit, nor yet to have authority over a man,but to be in quietness;
12 E não permito que a mulher ensine, nem exerça autoridade de homem; esteja, porém, em silêncio.
13 For, Adam, first was formed, then Eve,
13 Porque, primeiro, foi formado Adão, depois, Eva.
14 And, Adam, was not deceived, whereas, the woman, having been wholly deceived, hath come to be, in transgression;
14 E Adão não foi iludido, mas a mulher, sendo enganada, caiu em transgressão.
15 She shall be saved, however, through means of the child-bearing,if they abide in faith, and love, and holiness, with sobermindedness. Faithful, the saying.
15 Todavia, será preservada através de sua missão de mãe, se ela permanecer em fé, e amor, e santificação, com bom senso.
