1 I exhort, therefore, first of all, that there be madesupplications, prayers, intercessions, thankgivings, in behalf of all men,
1 Admoesto-te, pois, antes de tudo, que se façam deprecações, orações, intercessões, e ações de graças, por todos os homens;
2 In behalf of kings, and all them who are, in eminent station; in order that, an undisturbed, and quiet life, we may lead, in all godliness and gravity:
2 Pelos reis, e por todos os que estão em eminência, para que tenhamos uma vida quieta e sossegada, em toda a piedade e honestidade;
3 This, is comely and acceptable before our Saviour God,
3 Porque isto é bom e agradável diante de Deus nosso Salvador,
4 Who willeth, all men, to be saved, and, unto a personal knowledge of truth, to come;
4 Que quer que todos os homens se salvem, e venham ao conhecimento da verdade.
5 For there is, one, God, one, mediator also, between God and men,a manChrist Jesus:
5 Porque há um só Deus, e um só Mediador entre Deus e os homens, Jesus Cristo homem.
6 Who gave himself a ransom in behalf of all,the testimony, in its own fit times:
6 O qual se deu a si mesmo em preço de redenção por todos, para servir de testemunho a seu tempo.
7 Unto which, I, have been appointed proclaimer and apostleTruth I speak, I utter no falsehooda teacher of nations, in faith and truth.
7 Para o que (digo a verdade em Cristo, não minto) fui constituído pregador, e apóstolo, e doutor dos gentios na fé e na verdade.
8 I am minded, therefore, thatthe men in every place be offering prayer, uplifting hands of lovingkindness, apart from anger and disputings;
8 Quero, pois, que os homens orem em todo o lugar, levantando mãos santas, sem ira nem contenda.
9 In the same way, that, the women, in seemly attire, with modesty and sober-mindedness, be adorning themselves,not with plaitings and ornamentation of gold, or with pearls, or with costly apparel,
9 Que do mesmo modo as mulheres se ataviem em traje honesto, com pudor e modéstia, não com tranças, ou com ouro, ou pérolas, ou vestidos preciosos,
10 But, which becometh women promising godliness, through means of good works.
10 Mas (como convém a mulheres que fazem profissão de servir a Deus) com boas obras.
11 Let, a woman, in quietness, be learning in all submission;
11 A mulher aprenda em silêncio, com toda a sujeição.
12 But, teachingunto a woman, I do not permit, nor yet to have authority over a man,but to be in quietness;
12 Não permito, porém, que a mulher ensine, nem use de autoridade sobre o marido, mas que esteja em silêncio.
13 For, Adam, first was formed, then Eve,
13 Porque primeiro foi formado Adão, depois Eva.
14 And, Adam, was not deceived, whereas, the woman, having been wholly deceived, hath come to be, in transgression;
14 E Adão não foi enganado, mas a mulher, sendo enganada, caiu em transgressão.
15 She shall be saved, however, through means of the child-bearing,if they abide in faith, and love, and holiness, with sobermindedness. Faithful, the saying.
15 Salvar-se-á, porém, dando à luz filhos, se permanecer com modéstia na fé, no amor e na santificação.
