¹ Then did all Israel gather themselves together to David, unto Hebron, saying,Lo! thy bone and thy flesh, are we.

¹ Então todo o Israel se reuniu diante de Davi, em Hebrom. “Somos do mesmo povo e raça”, disseram.

² Moreover also, in time past even when Saul was king, thou, wast he that led out and brought in Israel,and Yahweh thy God said unto thee, Thou, shalt shepherd my people Israel, Yea, thou, shalt be chief ruler, over my people Israel.

² “No passado, quando Saul era rei, era você que liderava o exército de Israel. E o S enhor , seu Deus, lhe disse: ‘Você será o pastor do meu povo, Israel. Será o líder do meu povo, Israel’.”

³ Thus came all the elders of Israel unto the king, to Hebron, and David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh,and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh, through Samuel.

³ Então, ali em Hebrom, Davi fez um acordo diante do S enhor com todas as autoridades de Israel, e elas o ungiram rei de Israel, conforme o S enhor havia anunciado por meio de Samuel.

⁴ Then went David and all Israel to Jerusalem, the same, was Jebus,where were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.

⁴ Então Davi e todo o Israel foram a Jerusalém (isto é, Jebus), onde moravam os jebuseus, que viviam naquele lugar.

⁵ And the inhabitants of Jebus said unto David, Thou shalt not come in hither,But David captured the citadel of Zion, the same, is the city of David.

⁵ Os jebuseus zombaram de Davi: “Você jamais entrará aqui!”, mas Davi tomou a fortaleza de Sião, que hoje é chamada de Cidade de Davi.

⁶ And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, first, shall become a chief, and a ruler,So then Joab son of Zeruiah, went up first, and became a chief.

⁶ Davi tinha dito a seus soldados: “O primeiro que atacar os jebuseus se tornará o comandante de meus exércitos!”. Joabe, filho de Zeruia, foi o primeiro a atacar, e assim se tornou o comandante dos exércitos de Davi.

⁷ And David dwelt in the citadel,for this cause, did they call it, The City of David.

⁷ Davi foi morar na fortaleza, e ela passou a ser chamada de Cidade de Davi.

⁸ And he built the city round about, from Millo even as far as the circuit,but, Joab, suffered the remainder of the city to live.

⁸ Ampliou a cidade, desde o aterro até a região ao redor, enquanto Joabe reconstruiu o restante da cidade.

⁹ Thus did David wax greater and yet greater,and, Yahweh of Hosts, was with him.

¹⁰ Now, these, are the chiefs of the heroes, that pertained to David, who held strongly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king,according to the word of Yahweh, concerning Israel.

¹⁰ Estes foram os líderes dos guerreiros valentes de Davi. Junto com todo o Israel, apoiaram firmemente o reinado de Davi, conforme o S enhor havia prometido a respeito de Israel.

¹¹ And, this, is the number of the heroes who pertained to David,Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite, chief of the thirty, the same, brandished his spear over three hundredslain at one time.

¹¹ Este é o registro dos guerreiros mais valentes de Davi. O primeiro era Jasobeão, o hacmonita, líder dos Três, isto é, dos guerreiros mais valentes dentre os soldados de Davi. Certa ocasião, usou sua lança para matar trezentos soldados inimigos numa só batalha.

¹² And, after him, was Eleazar son of Dodai, the Ahohite,he, was among the three heroes;

¹³ he, was with David in Pas-dammim, where, the Philistines, were gathered together to battle, and there was a field-plot full of barley,and, the people, fled, from before the Philistines;

¹³ Estava com Davi quando os filisteus se reuniram para a batalha em Pas-Damim e atacaram os israelitas numa plantação de cevada. O exército israelita fugiu,

¹⁴ so they took their stand in the midst of the plot and rescued it, and smote the Philistines,and Yahweh wrought a great victory.

¹⁴ mas Eleazar e Davi mantiveram sua posição no meio do campo e derrotaram os filisteus. O S enhor os salvou e lhes deu grande vitória.

¹⁵ And three of the thirty chiefs went down upon the rock, unto David, into the cave of Adullam,a host of Philistines, being encamped in the vale of Rephaim.

¹⁵ Certa vez, Davi estava na rocha junto à caverna de Adulão, e o exército filisteu estava acampado no vale de Refaim. Os Três — que faziam parte dos Trinta, um grupo de elite entre os valentes de Davi — desceram para encontrá-lo em Adulão.

¹⁶ Now, David, then was in the stronghold,and, a garrison of Philistines, then was in Bethlehem.

¹⁶ Nessa ocasião, Davi estava na fortaleza, e um destacamento filisteu havia ocupado a cidade de Belém.

¹⁷ And David longed, and saidWho will give me to drink of the water, out of the well of Bethlehem, that is within the gate?

¹⁷ Davi comentou: “Ah, como seria bom beber a água pura do poço que fica junto ao portão de Belém!”.

¹⁸ And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David,yet would not David drink it, but poured it out unto Yahweh;

¹⁸ Então os Três atravessaram as fileiras dos filisteus, tiraram água do poço junto ao portão de Belém e a trouxeram a Davi. Ele, porém, se recusou a bebê-la. Em vez disso, derramou-a no chão como oferta ao S enhor .

¹⁹ and saidFar be it from me, of my God, that I should do this! The blood of these men, shall I drink, with their lives? For, with their lives, have they brought it! So he would not drink it. These things, did the three heroes.

¹⁹ “Que Deus não permita que eu beba desta água!”, exclamou. “Ela é tão preciosa quanto o sangue destes homens que arriscaram a vida para trazê-la.” E Davi não a bebeu. Esses são exemplos dos feitos desses três guerreiros.

²⁰ And, Abishai brother of Joabhe, was the chief of three, he, having brandished his spear against three hundredwho were slain,and so, he, had a name among three.

²⁰ Abisai, irmão de Joabe, era o líder dos Trinta. Certa ocasião, usou sua lança para matar trezentos soldados inimigos numa só batalha. Foi por causa de feitos como esse que ele se tornou tão famoso quanto os Três.

²¹ Of the three in the second rank, was he honourable, therefore became he their captain,though, unto the three, did he not attain.

²¹ Abisai era o mais conhecido dos Trinta e era seu comandante, embora não fosse um dos Três.

²² Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, hero of many a deed, from Kabzielhe, smote the two of Ariel of Moab, he, also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit, in time of snow;

²² Também havia Benaia, filho de Joiada, soldado valente de Cabzeel. Realizou muitos feitos heroicos, como matar dois grandes guerreiros de Moabe. Em outra ocasião, num dia de neve, perseguiu um leão até uma cova e o matou.

²³ he, also smote an Egyptian, a man of stature, five cubits, and, in the hand of the Egyptian, was a spear like a weavers beam, so he went down unto him with a staff,and wrested the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slew him with his spear.

²³ Uma vez, com apenas um cajado, matou um guerreiro egípcio de 2,25 metros de altura armado com uma lança da grossura de um eixo de tecelão. Benaia arrancou a lança da mão do egípcio e com ela o matou.

²⁴ These things, did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, so, he, had a name among three heroes.

²⁴ Feitos como esses tornaram Benaia tão famoso quanto os três guerreiros mais valentes.

²⁵ Among the thirty, lo! honourable, was he, but, unto the three, did he not attain,howbeit David set him over his council.

²⁵ Foi mais honrado que qualquer outro membro dos Trinta, embora não fosse um dos Três. Davi o nomeou comandante de sua guarda pessoal.

²⁶ Now, the heroes of the forces, were,Asahel, brother of Joab, Elhanan, son of Dodo, of Bethlehem;

²⁶ Outros guerreiros valentes de Davi foram: Asael, irmão de Joabe; Elanã, filho de Dodô, de Belém;

²⁷ Shammoth, the Harorite, Helez the Paltite;

²⁷ Samá, de Harode; Helez, de Pelom;
