1 Am not free? Am I not an apostle? Jesus our Lord, have I not seen? Are not, ye, my work, in the Lord?
1 Acaso não sou livre como qualquer outro? Não sou apóstolo? Não vi Jesus, nosso Senhor, com meus próprios olhos? Não são vocês resultado de meu trabalho no Senhor?
2 If, unto others, I am not an apostle, certainly at least, unto you, I am; for, the seal of my apostleship, ye, are in the Lord.
2 Mesmo que outros pensem que não sou apóstolo, certamente o sou para vocês. Vocês mesmos são prova de que sou apóstolo do Senhor.
3 My defence, unto them who are examining me, is this:
3 Esta é minha resposta aos que questionam minha autoridade.
4 Have we not a right to eat and drink?
4 Acaso não temos o direito de receber comida e bebida por nosso trabalho?
5 Have we not a right to take round, a sister wife,as even the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
5 Não temos o direito de levar conosco uma esposa crente, como fazem os outros apóstolos, e como fazem os irmãos do Senhor e Pedro?
6 Or have, only I and Barnabas, not a right to forbear working?
6 Ou será que só Barnabé e eu precisamos trabalhar para nos sustentarmos?
7 Who serveth as a soldier, at his own charges, at any time? Who planteth a vineyard,and, the fruit thereof, doth not eat? Or who shepherdeth a flock,and, of the milk of the flock, doth not eat?
7 Que soldado precisa pagar pelas próprias despesas? Que agricultor planta uma videira e não tem direito de comer de seus frutos? Que pastor cuida de um rebanho e não tem permissão de tomar de seu leite?
8 Is it, after the manner of men, that these things I am saying? Or doth not, even the law, the same things, say?
8 Será que expresso apenas uma opinião humana ou a lei diz o mesmo?
9 For, in the law of Moses, it is writtenThou shalt not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the corn:Is it, for the oxen, God is caring?
9 Pois está escrito na lei de Moisés: “Não amordacem o boi para impedir que ele coma enquanto trilha os cereais”. Deus estava pensando apenas nos bois quando disse isso?
10 Or, for our sakes altogether, is he saying it? For our sakes, it was written; because, he that ploweth, ought, to plow, in hope,and, he that thresheth, in hope of partaking.
10 Será que, na verdade, não estava se referindo a nós? Sim, essas palavras foram escritas a nosso respeito e, portanto, quem ara e quem trilha o cereal deve ter a esperança de receber uma parte da colheita.
11 If, we, unto you, the things of the Spirit have sown, is it a great matter, if, we, of you, the things of the flesh shall reap?
11 Se plantamos sementes espirituais entre vocês, não temos direito a uma colheita material?
12 If, others, of this right, over you, are partaking, things, do we conceal,lest we should cause any hindrance unto the glad message of the Christ.
12 Se vocês sustentam outros que pregam a vocês, não temos ainda mais direito de receber o mesmo sustento? Mas nunca fizemos uso desse direito. Preferimos suportar qualquer coisa a fim de não sermos obstáculo para as boas-novas a respeito de Cristo.
13 Know ye not that, they who labour in the holy rites, do eat the provisions out of the holy place? They who at the altar wait, do, with the altar, share?
13 Vocês não sabem que os que trabalham no templo se alimentam das ofertas levadas ao templo, e os que servem diante do altar recebem uma parte dos sacrifícios oferecidos no altar?
14 Thus, also, hath the Lord, appointedthat, they who the glad message tell, should, of the glad-message, live.
14 Da mesma forma, o Senhor ordenou que os que anunciam as boas-novas vivam pelas boas-novas.
15 I, however, have not used any of these things; and have not written these things, in order that, so it should be done, in my case; for it were, good for me, rather to die thanmy boast, shall, no man, make void!
15 Contudo, nunca usei de nenhum desses direitos. Não escrevo isso para sugerir que desejo agora começar a fazê-lo. De fato, prefiro morrer a perder o privilégio de me orgulhar de pregar sem cobrar nada.
16 For, if I be telling the glad-message, it is, with me, no matter of boasting; for, necessity, upon me, lieth,for it is, Woe to me, if I should not be telling the glad-message;
16 E, no entanto, não posso me orgulhar de anunciar as boas-novas, pois sou impelido por Deus a fazê-lo. Ai de mim se não anunciar as boas-novas!
17 For, if, by choice, this thing I am doing, I have, a reward; but, if not by choice, with a stewardship, have I been entrusted!
17 Se o fizesse por minha própria iniciativa, mereceria pagamento. Mas não tenho escolha, pois Deus me confiou essa responsabilidade.
18 What, then, is my reward? that, in telling the glad-message, free of cost, I should put the glad-message,to the end I should not use to the full my right in the glad-message.
18 Qual é, então, minha recompensa? É a oportunidade de anunciar as boas-novas sem cobrar nada de ninguém, de modo a não desfrutar os direitos que tenho por anunciar as boas-novas.
19 For, though free from all, unto all, myself, I enslaved,that, the larger number, I might win:
19 Embora eu seja um homem livre, fiz-me escravo de todos para levar muitos a Cristo.
20 Therefore became I, to the Jews, as, a Jew,that, Jews, I might win; to them who were under law, as, under law, not being, myself, under law,that, them who were under law, I might win;
20 Quando estive com os judeus, vivi como os judeus para levá-los a Cristo. Quando estive com os que seguem a lei judaica, vivi debaixo dessa lei. Embora não esteja sujeito à lei, agi desse modo para levar a Cristo aqueles que estão debaixo da lei.
21 To them who were without law, as, without law,not being without law to God, but lawfully subject to Christ,that I might win them who were without law.
21 Quando estou com os que não seguem a lei judaica, também vivo de modo independente da lei para levá-los a Cristo. Não ignoro, porém, a lei de Deus, pois obedeço à lei de Cristo.
22 I became, unto the weak, weak,that, the weak, I might win;to all men, have I become all things, that, by all means, some, I might save.
22 Quando estou com os fracos, também me torno fraco, pois quero levar os fracos a Cristo. Sim, tento encontrar algum ponto em comum com todos, fazendo todo o possível para salvar alguns.
23 But, all things, am I doing, for the sake of the glad-message, that a joint-partaker thereof, I may become.
23 Faço tudo isso para espalhar as boas-novas e participar de suas bênçãos.
24 Know ye not that, they who, in a racecourse, run, all, indeed, run,but, one, receiveth the prize? So, be running, that ye may lay hold.
24 Vocês não sabem que, numa corrida, todos competem, mas apenas um ganha o prêmio? Portanto, corram para vencer.
25 But, every man who striveth in the games, in all things, useth self-control;they, indeed, then, that a corruptible crown, they may receive; but, we, an incorruptible!
25 O atleta precisa ser disciplinado sob todos os aspectos. Ele se esforça para ganhar um prêmio perecível. Nós, porém, o fazemos para ganhar um prêmio eterno.
26 I, therefore, so, am running, as, not uncertainly, so, am boxing, as not thrashing air;
26 Por isso não corro sem objetivo nem luto como quem dá golpes no ar.
27 But am beating my body under, and leading it captive, lest, by any means,unto others, having proclaimed,
27 Disciplino meu corpo como um atleta, treinando-o para fazer o que deve, de modo que, depois de ter pregado a outros, eu mesmo não seja desqualificado.
