1 THE Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus, and, in order to put him to a test, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
1 Vieram também os fariseus com os saduceus, para o tentarem, pediram que lhes mostrasse algum sinal do céu.

2 Mas ele, respondendo, disse-lhes: Quando é chegada a tarde, dizeis: Haverá bom tempo, porque o céu está rubro.

3 E, pela manhã: Haverá tempo ruim hoje, pois o céu está de um vermelho sombrio. Hipócritas, podeis discernir a face do céu, mas não podeis discernir os sinais dos tempos?
4 But he answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation is eager for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah"; and he left them and went away.
4 Uma geração perversa e adúltera procura um sinal, e nenhum sinal lhe será dado, senão o sinal do profeta Jonas. E, ele os deixando, partiu.
5 When the disciples got to the other side of the lake, they had forgotten to take bread,
5 E, passando seus discípulos para o outro lado, tinham-se esquecido de levar pão.
6 and Jesus said to them, "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and the Sadducees."
6 Então Jesus disse-lhes: Cuidai-vos e guardai-vos do fermento dos fariseus e dos saduceus.
7 They were discussing this among themselves, saying, "It is because we have brought no bread."
7 E eles arrazoavam entre si, dizendo: É porque nós não trouxemos pão.
8 But Jesus, when he knew it, said, "Why are you discussing among yourselves, O men of little faith, because you have no bread?
8 Quando Jesus percebeu isso, disse: Oh pequena fé, por que arrazoais entre vós por não terdes trazido pão?
9 Do you not yet know? Do you not remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many basketfuls you picked up?
9 Não compreendeis ainda, nem vos lembrais dos cinco pães e dos cinco mil, e de quantos cestos recolhestes?
10 Or the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many basketfuls you picked up?
10 Nem dos sete pães e dos quatro mil, e de quantos cestos recolhestes?
11 How is it that you do not perceive that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
11 Como não compreendestes que eu não vos falei a respeito do pão, mas que tivessem cuidado do fermento dos fariseus e dos saduceus?
12 Then they understood that he had told them to beware not of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
12 Então compreenderam de que não dissera que se guardassem do fermento do pão, mas da doutrina dos fariseus e dos saduceus.
13 After corning into the neighborhood of Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"
13 Vindo Jesus às regiões de Cesareia de Filipe, perguntou aos seus discípulos, dizendo: Quem dizem os homens, que eu, o Filho do homem, sou?
14 They said, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; others Jeremiah or some one of the prophets."
14 E eles disseram: Alguns dizem que és João, o Batista; outros Elias, e outros Jeremias, ou um dos profetas.
15 He said to them, "But you, who do you say that I am?"
15 Disse-lhes ele: Mas vós, quem dizeis que eu sou?
16 Simon Peter said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
16 E Simão Pedro, respondendo, disse: Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo.
17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood have not revealed it to you, but my Father in heaven.
17 E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhe: Abençoado és tu, Simão Barjonas, pois carne e sangue não revelaram isso a ti, mas o meu Pai que está no céu.

18 E eu também te digo que tu és Pedro, e sobre esta rocha eu edificarei a minha igreja, e as portas do inferno não prevalecerão contra ela.
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
19 E eu te darei as chaves do reino do céu; e tudo quanto tu ligares na terra será ligado no céu, tudo quanto tu desligares na terra será desligado no céu.
20 Then he strictly charged his disciples not to tell any one that he was the Christ.
20 Então ele ordenou aos seus discípulos que não contassem a nenhum homem que ele era Jesus, o Cristo.
21 From that time Jesus began to make plain to his disciples that he had to go away to Jerusalem, and suffer greatly from the elders and high priests and scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.
21 Desde esse tempo começou Jesus a mostrar aos seus discípulos que ele deveria ir a Jerusalém, e sofrer muitas coisas dos anciãos, e dos principais sacerdotes e escribas, e ser morto, e ressuscitar ao terceiro dia.
22 Peter took him and began to reprove him, saying, "Please God, Sir; this shall not happen to you."
22 E Pedro, tomando-o, começou a repreendê-lo, dizendo: Longe de ti, Senhor; isso não será para ti.
23 But he, turning, said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan; you are a snare to me, for you are not thinking God's thoughts, but men's."
23 Mas ele, virando-se, disse a Pedro: Para trás de mim, Satanás; tu és uma ofensa a mim; porque não tens gosto das coisas que são de Deus, mas das que são dos homens.
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If any one chooses to come after me, let him disown self and take up his cross and follow me.
24 Então disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: Se algum homem quiser vir após mim, negue-se a si mesmo, tome a sua cruz, e siga-me.
25 For whoever chooses to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
25 Porque aquele que quiser salvar a sua vida, perdê-la-á; e quem perder a sua vida por minha causa, achá-la-á.
26 For what profit will a man have if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? or what can a man give to buy back his soul?
26 Pois que vantagem tem o homem em ganhar o mundo inteiro, e perder a sua própria alma? Ou que dará o homem em troca da sua alma?
27 For the Son of Man will soon come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will repay each in full according to his actions.
27 Porque o Filho do homem virá na glória de seu Pai, com os seus anjos; e então recompensará a cada um segundo as suas obras.
28 I tell you truly there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste of death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
28 Em verdade eu vos digo, alguns dos que aqui estão não provarão a morte até que vejam o Filho do homem vindo em seu reino.
