1 DURING the course of the day of Pentecost they were all together in the same place,
1 Chegando o dia de Pentecoste, estavam todos reunidos num só lugar.
2 when suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a strong rushing wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
2 De repente veio do céu um som, como de um vento muito forte, e encheu toda a casa na qual estavam assentados.
3 Then there appeared to them, as it were, tongues of flame distributing themselves, and one rested on each of them.
3 E viram o que parecia línguas de fogo, que se separaram e pousaram sobre cada um deles.
4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in foreign tongues, as the Spirit gave them power of expression.
4 Todos ficaram cheios do Espírito Santo e começaram a falar noutras línguas, conforme o Espírito os capacitava.
5 There were Jews living in Jerusalem, pious men from every nation under heaven.
5 Havia em Jerusalém judeus, tementes a Deus, vindos de todas as nações do mundo.
6 When this sound was heard, the crowd came together and were astonished because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
6 Ouvindo-se este som, ajuntou-se uma multidão que ficou perplexa, pois cada um os ouvia falar em sua própria língua.
7 They were amazed and, wondering, said, "Are not all these who are talking, Galilaean?
7 Atônitos e maravilhados, eles perguntavam: "Acaso não são galileus todos estes homens que estão falando?
8 How then does each of us hear them in his own native language?
8 Então, como os ouvimos, cada um de nós, em nossa própria língua materna?
9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and those who live in Mesopotamia, Judas and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
9 Partos, medos e elamitas; habitantes da Mesopotâmia, Judéia e Capadócia, Ponto e da província da Ásia,
10 Phrygia and Pamphilia, Egypt and the regions of Libya toward Cyrene, visitors from Rome, Jews and proselytes,
10 Frígia e Panfília, Egito e das partes da Líbia próximas a Cirene; visitantes vindos de Roma,
11 Cretans and Arabians \'97 we hear them speaking in our languages the mighty works of God."
11 tanto judeus como convertidos ao judaísmo; cretenses e árabes. Nós os ouvimos declarar as maravilhas de Deus em nossa própria língua! "
12 They were all astonished and at a loss, one saying to another, "What does this mean?"
12 Atônitos e perplexos, todos perguntavam uns aos outros: "Que significa isto? "
13 Some scoffingly said, "They are full of sweet wine."
13 Alguns, todavia, zombavam deles e diziam: "Eles beberam vinho demais".
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: "Fellow Jews, and all of you who live in Jerusalem, understand this and listen to my words.
14 Então Pedro levantou-se com os Onze e, em alta voz, dirigiu-se à multidão: "Homens da Judéia e todos os que vivem em Jerusalém, deixem-me explicar-lhes isto! Ouçam com atenção:
15 These are not drunk, as you assume, for it is only nine o'clock in the morning;

16 but this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
16 Pelo contrário, isto é o que foi predito pelo profeta Joel:
17 'It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.
17 ‘Nos últimos dias, diz Deus, derramarei do meu Espírito sobre todos os povos. Os seus filhos e as suas filhas profetizarão, os jovens terão visões, os velhos terão sonhos.
18 Yes, upon the slave men and slave girls that are mine I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
18 Sobre os meus servos e as minhas servas derramarei do meu Espírito naqueles dias, e eles profetizarão.
19 I will give portents in heaven above and signs on the earth beneath, blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
19 Mostrarei maravilhas em cima no céu e sinais em baixo, na terra, sangue, fogo e nuvens de fumaça.
20 The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the day of the Lord comes \'97 that great and glorious day.
20 O sol se tornará em trevas e a lua em sangue, antes que venha o grande e glorioso dia do Senhor.
21 And every one who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'
21 E todo aquele que invocar o nome do Senhor será salvo! ’
22 Fellow Israelites, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene was a man proved to be sent to you from God by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through him in the midst of you, as you yourselves know.
22 "Israelitas, ouçam estas palavras: Jesus de Nazaré foi aprovado por Deus diante de vocês por meio de milagres, maravilhas e sinais, que Deus fez entre vocês por intermédio dele, como vocês mesmos sabem.
23 But when he had been delivered up according to the fixed purpose and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed him through the hands of lawless men.
23 Este homem lhes foi entregue por propósito determinado e pré-conhecimento de Deus; e vocês, com a ajuda de homens perversos, o mataram, pregando-o na cruz.
24 But God freed him from the pangs of death and raised him up, since it was impossible that he should be held under the power of death.
24 Mas Deus o ressuscitou dos mortos, rompendo os laços da morte, porque era impossível que a morte o retivesse.
25 For David says of him, 'I saw the Lord always before my face, for he is at my right hand so that I may not be cast down.
25 A respeito dele, disse Davi: ‘Eu sempre via o Senhor diante de mim. Porque ele está à minha direita, não serei abalado.
26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices, and my flesh still dwells in hope
26 Por isso o meu coração está alegre e a minha língua exulta; o meu corpo também repousará em esperança,
27 that thou wilt not leave my soul to Hades and wilt not let thy holy one see decay.
27 porque tu não me abandonarás no sepulcro, nem permitirás que o teu Santo sofra decomposição.
28 Thou makest me know the paths of life. Thou wilt fill me with joy in thy presence.'
28 Tu me fizeste conhecer os caminhos da vida e me encherás de alegria na tua presença’.
29 "Brethren, allow me to say frankly to you regarding the patriarch David that he died and was buried and his tomb is among us to this day.
29 "Irmãos, posso dizer-lhes com franqueza que o patriarca Davi morreu e foi sepultado, e o seu túmulo está entre nós até o dia de hoje.
30 But being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn to him an oath to place a descendant of his body upon his throne,
30 Mas ele era profeta e sabia que Deus lhe prometera sob juramento que colocaria um dos seus descendentes em seu trono.
31 he foreseeing spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, saying that he was not left to Hades and that his flesh did not see decay.
31 Prevendo isso, falou da ressurreição do Cristo, que não foi abandonado no sepulcro e cujo corpo não sofreu decomposição.
32 This Jesus, God raised up, and all of us are witnesses of it.
32 Deus ressuscitou este Jesus, e todos nós somos testemunhas desse fato.
33 Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear.
33 Exaltado à direita de Deus, ele recebeu do Pai o Espírito Santo prometido e derramou o que vocês agora vêem e ouvem.
34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand,
34 Pois Davi não subiu ao céu, mas ele mesmo declarou: ‘O Senhor disse ao meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita
35 till I make your enemies your footstool.'
35 até que eu ponha os teus inimigos como estrado para os teus pés’.
36 Let all the house of Israel know surely that this Jesus, whom you crucified, God has made both Lord and Christ."
36 "Portanto, que todo Israel fique certo disto: Este Jesus, a quem vocês crucificaram, Deus o fez Senhor e Cristo".
37 Hearing this they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "What shall we do, brethren?"
37 Quando ouviram isso, os seus corações ficaram aflitos, e eles perguntaram a Pedro e aos outros apóstolos: "Irmãos, que faremos? "
38 Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
38 Pedro respondeu: "Arrependam-se, e cada um de vocês seja batizado em nome de Jesus Cristo, para perdão dos seus pecados, e receberão o dom do Espírito Santo.
39 For the promise belongs to you and to your children and to all those who are far off, as many as the Lord your God may call."
39 Pois a promessa é para vocês, para os seus filhos e para todos os que estão longe, para todos quantos o Senhor, o nosso Deus chamar".
40 With many other words he bore witness and exhorted them, "Save yourselves from this perverse generation."
40 Com muitas outras palavras os advertia e insistia com eles: "Salvem-se desta geração corrompida! "
41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and there were added on that day about three thousand souls.
41 Os que aceitaram a mensagem foram batizados, e naquele dia houve um acréscimo de cerca de três mil pessoas.
42 These gave constant attention to the teaching of the apostles and to the fellowship and the breaking of bread and the prayers.
42 Eles se dedicavam ao ensino dos apóstolos e à comunhão, ao partir do pão e às orações.
43 Awe came on every soul. Many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
43 Todos estavam cheios de temor, e muitas maravilhas e sinais eram feitos pelos apóstolos.
44 All who believed had all things together in common.
44 Todos os que criam mantinham-se unidos e tinham tudo em comum.
45 They would sell their lands and goods and distribute to all as any one had need.
45 Vendendo suas propriedades e bens, distribuíam a cada um conforme a sua necessidade.
46 Every day, continuing with one accord in the Temple courts and in breaking bread from house to house, they ate together in joy and simplicity of heart,
46 Todos os dias, continuavam a reunir-se no pátio do templo. Partiam o pão em suas casas, e juntos participavam das refeições, com alegria e sinceridade de coração,
47 praising God and having favor with all the people. The Lord added daily to their number those who were being saved.
47 louvando a Deus e tendo a simpatia de todo o povo. E o Senhor lhes acrescentava todos os dias os que iam sendo salvos.
