New Simplified Bible (NSB) vs BKJ
1 Jethro was the priest of Midian and the father-in-law of Moses. He heard what Jehovah God had done for Moses and his people, after rescuing them from Egypt.
1 Quando Jetro, o sacerdote de Midiã, sogro de Moisés, ouviu tudo que Deus havia feito a Moisés e a Israel, seu povo, e que o SENHOR havia tirado Israel do Egito,
2 Moses sent his wife Zipporah and her two sons to stay with Jethro. Jethro welcomed them.
2 então Jetro, sogro de Moisés, tomou Zípora, esposa de Moisés, depois que ele a enviara de volta,
3 Moses was still a foreigner in Midian when his first son was born. Moses said: »I will name him Gershom.«
3 e seus dois filhos, dos quais o nome de um era Gérson, porque ele disse: Fui estrangeiro em uma terra estranha,
4 When his second son was born, Moses said: »I will name him Eliezer, because the God my father worshiped has saved me from the king of Egypt.«
4 o nome do outro era Eliézer, porque o Deus de meu pai, disse ele, foi minha ajuda, e me libertou da espada de Faraó,
5 Jethro, Moses father-in-law brought Moses sons and wife to Moses in the desert. He was camped near the mountain of God.
5 e Jetro, sogro de Moisés, veio com seus filhos e sua esposa a Moisés no deserto, onde ele acampava junto ao monte de Deus;
6 Jethro sent word to Moses: »I am coming to visit you. I am bringing your wife and her two sons.«
6 e disse a Moisés: Eu, teu sogro Jetro, venho a ti, com tua esposa e os seus dois filhos com ela.
7 Moses went out to meet his father-in-law. Moses bowed with his face touching the ground and kissed Jethro. They asked each other how they were. Then they entered the tent.
7 E Moisés saiu ao encontro de seu sogro, e inclinou-se e o beijou. E perguntaram-se pelo seu bem-estar, e entraram na tenda.
8 Moses told his father-in-law everything Jehovah had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel. He talked about all the hardships they had on the way, and how Jehovah saved them.
8 E Moisés contou a seu sogro tudo que o SENHOR havia feito a Faraó e aos egípcios por causa de Israel, e toda a aflição que os acometera no caminho, e como o SENHOR os livrara.
9 Jethro rejoiced over all the goodness Jehovah had done to Israel, in delivering them from the hand of the Egyptians.
9 E Jetro se alegrou por toda a bondade que o SENHOR havia feito a Israel, a quem havia libertado da mão dos egípcios.
10 Jethro said: »Blessed be Jehovah who delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh. He delivered the people from under the domination of the Egyptians.
10 E Jetro disse: Bendito seja o SENHOR, que vos livrou da mão dos egípcios, e da mão de Faraó; que livrou o povo de debaixo da mão dos egípcios.
11 »Now I know that Jehovah is greater than all the other gods. It was proven when they treated the people with contempt.«
11 Agora eu sei que o SENHOR é maior que todos os deuses, naquilo em que se ensoberbeceram, ele prevaleceu contra eles.
12 Jethro, Moses father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses father-in-law before God.
12 E Jetro, sogro de Moisés, tomou uma oferta queimada e sacrifícios para Deus. E veio Arão, e todos os anciãos de Israel, para comer pão com o sogro de Moisés diante de Deus.
13 The next day Moses settled disputes among the people. He was busy from morning till night.
13 E aconteceu que ao amanhecer, Moisés sentou-se para julgar o povo. E o povo estava em pé diante de Moisés desde a manhã até a tarde.
14 Jethro saw everything that Moses had to do. He asked: »What is all this that you are doing for the people? Why are you doing this all alone? There are people standing here from morning till night to consult you?«
14 E quando o sogro de Moisés viu tudo que ele fazia ao povo, disse: O que é isto que fazes ao povo? Por que te assentas sozinho, e todo o povo fica em pé diante de ti desde a manhã até a tarde?
15 Moses answered: »They come here to find out what God wants them to do.
15 E disse Moisés a seu sogro: Porque o povo vem a mim para perguntar a Deus.
16 »They bring their complaints to me. I make decisions on the basis of Gods laws.«
16 Quando eles têm uma questão, vêm a mim, e eu julgo entre um e outro, e os faço saber os estatutos de Deus, e suas leis.
17 Jethro replied: »That is not a good way to do it.
17 E o sogro de Moisés lhe disse: O que estás fazendo não é bom.
18 »You and your people will wear yourselves out. This is too much work for you. You cannot do it alone!
18 Certamente desfalecerás, tu e este povo que está contigo, porque isto é muito pesado para ti; não és capaz de realizar isto sozinho.
19 »Listen to the advice I give you. May God be with you! You must be the peoples representative to God and bring their disagreements to him.
19 Ouve a minha voz: Dar-te-ei conselho, e Deus será contigo; sê tu pelo povo diante de Deus, para que leves as causas a Deus;
20 »You must instruct them in the laws and the teachings. Show them how to live and tell them what to do.
20 e tu lhes ensinarás as ordens e leis, e lhes mostrarás o caminho em que devem andar, e a obra que devem realizar.
21 »You should choose capable men from all the people. Find men who respect God. These must be men you can trust who hate corruption. Put them in charge of groups of thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.
21 Além disso, tu proverás de todo o povo homens capazes, tementes a Deus, homens da verdade, que aborreçam a avareza, e os colocarás sobre eles, para serem governantes de mil, e governantes de cem, governantes de cinquenta e governantes de dez.
22 »They must be the ones who usually settle disagreements among the people. They should bring all-important cases to you. But they should settle all minor cases themselves. Make it easier for yourself by letting them help you.
22 Para que julguem o povo em todo o tempo. E será que, toda causa grave eles trarão a ti, mas toda causa pequena eles julgarão; assim será mais fácil para ti, e eles carregarão a carga contigo.
23 »If you do this, as God commands, you will not wear yourself out. All these people can go home with their disputes settled.«
23 Se fizeres isto, e Deus te ordenar assim, então serás capaz de suportar, e todo este povo também voltará a seu lugar em paz.
24 Moses took Jethros advice
24 Então Moisés ouviu a voz do seu sogro, e fez tudo que ele dissera.
25 and chose capable men from among all the Israelites. He appointed them as leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.
25 E Moisés escolheu homens capazes de todo o Israel, e os fez por cabeças sobre o povo; governantes de mil, governantes de cem, governantes de cinquenta e governantes de dez.
26 They judged the people on a permanent basis. The difficult cases were taken to Moses but they decided the smaller disputes themselves.
26 E eles julgaram o povo em todo o tempo; as causas graves traziam a Moisés, mas toda causa pequena julgavam eles mesmos.
27 Moses said good-bye to Jethro, and Jethro went back home.
27 E Moisés deixou seu sogro partir. E ele seguiu o caminho para a sua própria terra.
