1 Some people from Ziph went to Gibeah to talk with Saul, they said: »David has a hideout on Mount Hachilah near Jeshimon out in the desert.«
1 E os zifeus vieram a Saul, a Gibeá, dizendo: Não se esconde Davi no outeiro de Haquila, o qual está diante de Jesimom?
2 Saul went to the desert of Ziph. He took three thousand of Israel’s best-trained men to search for David.
2 Então Saul se levantou, e desceu ao deserto de Zife, tendo consigo três mil homens escolhidos de Israel para buscar Davi no deserto de Zife.
3 Saul camped by the road at the hill of Hachilah near Jeshimon. David camped in the desert. He discovered that Saul come to the desert after him.
3 E Saul acampou no outeiro de Haquila, o qual está diante de Jesimom, junto ao caminho. Davi, porém, permanecia no deserto, e viu que Saul veio ao deserto atrás de si.
4 David sent spies to confirm Saul’s arrival.
4 Davi, portanto, enviou espiões, e compreendeu que Saul havia, verdadeiramente, vindo.
5 Then David went to the place where Saul camped. David saw the place where Saul and Ner’s son Abner, the commander of the army, were lying. Saul was lying in the camp. The troops were camped around him.
5 E Davi se levantou, e veio até o lugar onde Saul havia acampado; e Davi observou o lugar onde Saul estava deitado, e Abner, filho de Ner, capitão do seu exército; e Saul estava deitado na trincheira, e o povo acampado ao seu redor.
6 David asked Ahimelech the Hittite, and Abishai the brother of Joab: »Who will go to Saul’s camp with me?« »I will,« Abishai answered.
6 Então, Davi respondeu e disse a Aimeleque, o heteu, e a Abisai, o filho de Zeruia, irmão de Joabe, dizendo: Quem descerá comigo a Saul, ao acampamento? E Abisai disse: Eu descerei contigo.
7 David and Abishai entered Saul’s camp at night. They found Saul sleeping in the center of the camp. His spear was stuck in the ground near his head. Abner and the troops were sleeping around him.
7 Assim, Davi e Abisai vieram ao povo à noite; e eis que Saul estava deitado, dormindo, dentro da trincheira, e a sua lança fincada no chão junto ao seu travesseiro; mas Abner e o povo estavam deitados ao seu redor.
8 Abishai said to David: »God put your enemy in your power tonight. Let me plunge his own spear through him and pin him to the ground. I will do it with just one blow. I will not have to strike twice!«
8 Então, Abisai disse a Davi: Deus entregou o teu inimigo na tua mão neste dia; agora, portanto, deixa-me feri-lo, rogo-te, com a lança até o chão de uma vez, e eu não o ferirei uma segunda vez.
9 But David said: »Do not harm him! Jehovah will certainly punish whoever harms his chosen king.«
9 E Davi disse a Abisai: Não o destruas; pois quem pode estender a sua mão contra o ungido do SENHOR, e ser inocente?
10 »By the living God Jehovah,« David declared, »I know that Jehovah will kill Saul, either when his time comes to die a natural death or when he dies in battle.
10 Davi disse ainda mais: Como vive o SENHOR, o SENHOR o ferirá; ou o seu dia de morrer virá; ou ele descerá à batalha e perecerá.
11 »Jehovah forbid that I should try to harm the one Jehovah anointed to be king. Just take his spear and his water jar and go.«
11 O SENHOR me proíba de estender a minha mão contra o ungido do SENHOR; mas, rogo-te, toma agora a lança que está junto ao seu travesseiro, e o cantil de água, e vamo-nos.
12 David took the spear and the water jar from beside Saul’s head. Then he and Abishai left. No one saw it or knew what happened. No one woke up. They were all sound asleep, because Jehovah sent a heavy sleep on them all.
12 Assim, Davi tomou a lança e o cantil de água do travesseiro de Saul; e eles os levaram, e nenhum homem viu isso, nem soube disso, tampouco despertou; pois todos eles estavam dormindo; porque um sono profundo da parte do SENHOR havia caído sobre eles.
13 Then David crossed over to the other side of the valley. He went to the top of the hill a great distance away.
13 Então, Davi atravessou para o outro lado, e se pôs de pé no cume de um outeiro ao longe; havendo um grande espaço entre eles;
14 David shouted to Saul’s troops and to Abner: »Abner! Can you hear me?« »Who is calling to the king?« Abner asked.
14 e Davi gritou ao povo, e a Abner, filho de Ner, dizendo: Tu não respondes, Abner? Então, Abner respondeu e disse: Quem és tu que gritas ao rei?
15 David answered, »Abner, are you the greatest man in Israel? Why are you not protecting your master, the king? Someone entered the camp to kill your master.
15 E Davi disse a Abner: Não és tu um homem valente? E quem é como tu em Israel? Por que, então, não guardaste o senhor teu rei? Pois aí entrou um do povo para destruir o rei, teu senhor.
16 »You failed in your duty, Abner! I swear by the living God Jehovah all of you deserve to die. You have not protected your master, whom Jehovah made king. Look for the king’s spear? Where is the water jar that was near his head?«
16 Esta coisa que fizeste não é boa. Como vive o SENHOR, vós sois dignos de morrer, porque não guardastes o vosso senhor, o ungido do SENHOR. E, agora, vede onde está a lança do rei e o cantil de água que estava junto ao seu travesseiro.
17 Saul recognized David’s voice and said: »Is that your voice my son David?« And David said: »It is my voice, my lord the king.
17 E Saul reconheceu a voz de Davi, e disse: Esta é a tua voz, meu filho Davi? E Davi disse: É a minha voz, ó rei, meu senhor.
18 He also said: »Why are you my lord pursuing your servant? What have I done? Or what evil is in my hand?
18 E ele disse: Por que persegue o meu senhor assim o seu servo? Pois o que eu tenho feito? Ou, que mal há na minha mão?
19 »Please let my lord the king listen to the words of his servant. If Jehovah has stirred you up against me, let Him accept an offering. If it is men, cursed are they before Jehovah. They have driven me out today so that I would have no attachment with the inheritance of Jehovah, saying: ‘Go serve other gods.’«
19 Agora, portanto, rogo-te, que o meu senhor, o rei, ouça as palavras do seu servo. Se o SENHOR te incitou contra mim, que aceite uma oferta; mas se forem os filhos dos homens, malditos sejam eles diante do SENHOR; pois neste dia eles me retiraram da permanência na herança do SENHOR, dizendo: Vai, serve a outros deuses.
20 »Do not let my blood fall to the ground far from the presence of Jehovah. The king of Israel comes to search for a flea. Yet he hunts me down like a partridge on the mountains.«
20 Agora, portanto, que o meu sangue não caia na terra diante da face do SENHOR; pois o rei de Israel saiu para buscar uma pulga, como quando se caça uma perdiz nos montes.
21 »My servant David,« Saul said, »I have sinned. Come back. I will not harm you again. You valued my life today. I have acted like a fool. I made a terrible mistake.«
21 Então disse Saul: Eu pequei; retorna, meu filho Davi; pois não te causarei mais dano, porque a minha alma foi preciosa aos teus olhos neste dia; eis que tenho agido como tolo, e tenho errado sobejamente.
22 David answered: »Here is the king’s spear. Have one of your soldiers come and get it.«
22 E Davi respondeu e disse: Eis aqui a lança do rei! E que um dos jovens atravesse para cá e a apanhe.
23 »Jehovah put you in my power today. But you are his chosen king. I would not harm you. Jehovah rewards the righteous and faithful.
23 O SENHOR conceda a cada homem a sua justiça e a sua fidelidade; pois o SENHOR te entregou na minha mão hoje, eu, porém, não quis estender a minha mão contra o ungido do SENHOR.
24 »I valued and saved your life today. I pray that you will value and save my life and that Jehovah will deliver me out of tribulation.«
24 E eis que, como a tua vida foi muito considerada neste dia aos meus olhos, assim seja a minha vida considerada aos olhos do SENHOR, e que Ele me livre de toda tribulação.
25 Saul said: »David, my son, I pray that Jehovah will bless you and make you successful!« Saul went back home. David also left.
25 Então, Saul disse a Davi: Bendito sejas tu, meu filho Davi; tu tanto farás grandes coisas, como também ainda prevalecerás. Assim, Davi prosseguiu no seu caminho, e Saul retornou ao seu lugar.
