1 So tok Jesus til ords att og sagde dei ei onnor likning:
1 Jesus tornou a falar-lhes por meio de parábolas:
2 «Himmelriket kann liknast med ein konge som gjorde bryllaup åt son sin.
2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,
3 Han sende ut sveinarne sine, og kalla deim som var bedne til bryllaups; men dei vilde ikkje koma.
3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.
4 So sende han andre sveinar og sagde: «Seg til deim som er bedne: «No hev eg stelt til bryllaupsmaten; uksane mine og gjødfeet er slagta, og alt er ferdigt. Kom no til bryllaups!»»
4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 Men dei brydde seg ikkje um det; ein gjekk ut på åkeren sin og ein annan til krambudi si;
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.
6 og dei hine greip sveinarne hans, og skamførde deim og drap deim.
6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew {them}.
7 Då vart kongen harm. Han sende ut herarne sine og gjorde ende på dråpsmennerne og brende upp byen deira.
7 And {when} the king {heard of it he} was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 So sagde han til sveinarne sine: «Alt er ferdigt til bryllaupet, men dei bedne var ikkje verde det.
8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
9 Gakk no ut på vegar og vegskil og bed til bryllaups alle deim de finn!»
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
10 So gjekk sveinarne ut på vegarne og bad i hop alle dei fann, både vonde og gode, og bryllaups-stova vart full av gjester.
10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.
11 Då so kongen kom inn og vilde sjå gjesterne, vart han var ein som ikkje var bryllaupsklædd.
11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
12 Han segjer til honom: «Kjære, korleis hev du kome inn her og er ikkje bryllaupsklædd?» Men han kunde ingen ting svara.
12 And he says to him, {My} friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
13 Då sagde kongen til bordsveinarne: «Bitt hender og føter på honom, og kasta honom ut i myrkret utanfor, der dei græt og skjer tenner!»
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
14 For mange er kalla, men få er utvalde.»
14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Då gjekk farisæarane burt og lagde råd um korleis dei skulde få fanga honom i ord.

16 Dei sende læresveinarne sine til honom i lag med Herodes-mennerne og let deim segja: «Meister, me veit du er ærleg, og det er sanning det du lærer oss um Guds veg, og du bryr deg ikkje um nokon; for du gjer ikkje skil på folk.
16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
17 Seg oss no: Kva meiner du? Er det rett å svara skatt til keisaren, eller er det ikkje?»
17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 Men Jesus skyna den vonde meiningi deira og sagde: «Kvi freistar de meg, hyklarar?
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 Lat meg sjå skattemynti!» So flidde dei honom ein sylvpening.
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 «Kva er dette for eit bilæte og namn?» spurde han.
20 And he says to them, Whose {is} this image and superscription?
21 «Det er keisarens,» svara dei. Då sagde han til deim: «So gjev keisaren det som keisarens er, og Gud det som Guds er!»
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
22 Då dei høyrde det, undra dei seg og gjekk burt ifrå honom.
22 And when they heard {him}, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 Same dagen kom det nokre sadducæarar til honom - det er dei som segjer at det ikkje er nokor uppstoda - dei sette fram eit spursmål for honom og sagde:
23 — ausente —
24 «Meister, Moses hev sagt: «Når ein mann døyr barnlaus, so skal bror hans gifta seg med enkja og halda uppe ætti åt bror sin.»
24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
25 No var det sju brør hjå oss. Den eine gifte seg, og døydde; han hadde ikkje born, og let etter seg kona si til broren.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
26 Like eins den andre og den tridje, radt til den sjuande.
26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 Etter deim alle døydde kona.
27 And last of all the woman also died.
28 Kven av dei sju skal no ho høyra til i eit anna liv? For dei hev havt henne alle.»
28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
29 Jesus svara: «De fer vilt, av di de ikkje kjenner skrifterne og ikkje Guds magt.
29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 For i eit anna liv er det ingen som gifter seg eller vert burtgift; dei er som Guds englar i himmelen.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.
31 Men at dei avlidne skal standa upp att, hev de ’kje lese kva Gud hev tala til dykk um det, når han segjer:
31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:
32 «Eg er Abrahams Gud og Isaks Gud og Jakobs Gud?» Og han er ikkje Gud for dei daude, men for dei livande.»
32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.
33 Då folket høyrde det, vart dei reint upp i under yver læra hans.
33 E, ouvindo esta doutrina, as turbas se enchiam de grande admiração.
34 So snøgt som farisæarane fekk høyra at han hadde målbunde sadducæarane, samla dei seg kringum honom,
34 Sabendo os fariseus que Jesus reduzira ao silêncio os saduceus, reuniram-se
35 og ein av deim, som var kunnig i lovi, vilde freista honom og spurde:
35 e um deles, doutor da lei, fez-lhe esta pergunta para pô-lo à prova:
36 «Meister, kva bod er det største i lovi?»
36 Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da lei?
37 Han svara: «»Du skal elska Herren, din Gud, av alt ditt hjarta og av all din hug og av alt ditt vit!»
37 Respondeu Jesus: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo teu coração, de toda tua alma e de todo teu espírito {Dt 6,5}.
38 Det er det største og fyrste bodet.
38 Este é o maior e o primeiro mandamento.
39 Men det er eit anna som likjest det, og det er: «Du skal elska næsten din som deg sjølv!»
39 E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás teu próximo como a ti mesmo {Lv 19,18}.
40 På desse tvo bodi kviler heile lovi og profetarne.»
40 Nesses dois mandamentos se resumem toda a lei e os profetas.
41 Med farisæarane var samla, spurde Jesus deim åt:
41 Como os fariseus se agrupassem, Jesus interrogou-os:
42 «Kva trur de um Messias? Kven er han son åt?» «Åt David,» svara dei.
42 Que pensais vós de Cristo? De quem é filho? Responderam: De Davi!
43 Då sagde han: «Korleis kann då David i Anden kalla honom herre, når han segjer:
43 Como então, prosseguiu Jesus, Davi, falando sob inspiração do Espírito, chama-o Senhor, dizendo:
44 «Herren sagde til herren min: «Sit ved høgre handi mi, til eg dine fiendar fær for dine føter lagt!»»
44 O Senhor disse a meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha teus inimigos por escabelo dos teus pés {Sl 109,1}?
45 Kallar no David honom herre, korleis kann han då vera son hans?»
45 Se, pois, Davi o chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
46 Men ingen kunde svara honom eit ord. Og ingen torde etter den dag koma med fleire spursmål til honom.
46 Ninguém pôde responder-lhe nada. E, depois daquele dia, ninguém mais ousou interrogá-lo.
