2 Yi dʉ maka ongɨsɨ u azu o na mbɨa, ɨnde ndʉ ’kpɨ́ hana ne gʉmʉ nandjɨ ’ka. Yi dʉ bhadi ne gʉmʉ Eli gba Ebhe-e moko ngʉbula me yi bhele, akólo lɨ ekpɨ́ lɨ Ebhe akóbho yi lɨe libhomu-o.
2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.
4 Yi dyudyo lɨyi de Ngámá Yesu Kilisito masɨkpe, a ko teme na mʉkobho, ɨnde lɨ okpála abhike nanɨ e ne ɨlɨ me a lɨ kulu ade-o. La-a, bhʉ́ djila Ebhe ɨnde alo nanɨ teme ango-o, anɨ atsia au me a lɨ kulu ane ndʉ oteme koko hana.

5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Padhá de, anga u aye bhʉ́ Bhuku gba Ebhe-e me:
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7 Pɨ yi okpála ɨnde abhuka-a, teme ango-o pɨ yi lɨ kulu ane ndʉ oteme koko hana. Engʉ́ bini, pɨ okpála bhende ɨ bhuka de-e, a mo-o ade. Padhá de, anga u aye bhʉ́ Bhuku gba Ebhe-e me:
7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 U aye matá di bhʉ́ Bhuku gba Ebhe-e me:
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 La pɨ yi-e, yi ne piga ɨnde lɨ Ebhe abhʉ o-o. Yi ne piga gba odimandɵ ɨnde ngamene kulu pɨ ’ngbé Ngámá Ebhe. Yi ne piga okpála ɨnde lɨ Ebhe ao o kpi pɨ e. Anɨ abhʉ yi ngʉbula me yi kpokpo ongbengbe ’ngʉ́ ɨnde nɨ amene e pɨ okpála. Anɨ a ɨ yi me yi ze bhʉ́ biti, amba yi go lɨ zɨ ’ke gba nɨ ɨnde ngatsi ane ndʉ ’he hana-o.
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Nanɨ kalanʉ-o, yi dʉ ne okpála gba Ebhe de, engʉ́ bini mbɨa ɨnde-e, yi akolo okpála gba anɨ. Nanɨ kalanʉ-o, yi sia ndjinga gba Ebhe-e de, engʉ́ bini mbɨa ɨnde-e, yi asia ndjinga gba anɨ asia.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 Ondaise ma na mʉkʉnda, yi mbɨla ndjɨndjɨ me yi pɨ́la doto ei ne ogomago. Kʉtɨ gba yi-e pɨ́la doto ɨnde-e ade. Kaka-a, ma ayo ka yi me, yi adʉ́ améne osisiti ’ngʉ́ lɨ gʉmʉ e nde lɨ bua yi-e de, anga ongʉ́ bhomʉ-o ngazʉ bɨlɨ lɨ bhobua yi ngae.
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Yi kɵ lɨyi ne kuto kala ndʉ okpála hana ɨnde ngaʉ pɨ́la doto, kabula Ngámá gba nɨ́ Yesu Kilisito ɨnde yi ngakpata nganda e-o.

Anɨ ao uo ngʉbula me u mene okpála ɨnde ngamene siti ’ngʉ́-o kpekpeke, di ne me u dhɵgɵ obhende ngamene bádha ’ngʉ́-o.
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 Padhá de, anga Ebhe akʉnda me yi gbite ’bhɵ ngingi ’ngʉ́ gba okpála ɨnde ayala nambɨla Ebhe-e ne namene bádha ’ngʉ́.
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;

17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Ngayi obalise-e, yi kɵ lɨyi kala omakʉlasɨ yi ne kuto. Yi manga uo ndjɨndjɨ. Yi amánga bha bini obhende na bhʉkʉ ’ngʉ́-o de, ɨnde ngamene yi ndjɨndjɨ-e de, yi manga di obhende ngamene yi sisiti-o.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Padhá de, anga Ebhe ngasuno bádha bhʉ́ ’bu pɨ kpála ɨnde ngazʉ lɨkabhu sakpa okpála koko padhá me anɨ nde mene siti ’ngʉ́ de, lɨ anɨ tsia kíbila lɨkabhu ango-o kabula ’lɨ Ebhe.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 Yi dʉ azʉ bhɨkpa ka siti ’ngʉ́ yi amene e, a dhɵ́gɵ yi tété da? Engʉ́ bini, ɨ dʉ me yi nde ngazʉ lɨkabhu sakpa okpála koko kabula bádha ’ngʉ́ ɨnde yi amene e, lɨ yi kibila lɨkabhu ango-o, a ko bádha ’ngʉ́ bhʉ́ djila Ebhe.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 Anɨ aɨ yi me yi mene moko, anga Kilisito azʉ bhadi lɨkabhu pɨ yi moko. Anɨ apana kpadjɨ pɨ yi, amba yi mene bhadi maka nɨ.
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Ngaanɨ-e, anɨ mene siti ’ngʉ́ de.
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 Lɨ okpála asobho anɨ lɨe, anɨ gie sobho pɨ uo de.
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 Anɨ abha sisiti ’ngʉ́ gba nɨ́-e, anɨ atsia abɨ lɨ kʉte e.
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 Padhá de, anga yi dʉ nanɨ maka okandɵlɵ ɨnde angɨta.
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
