1 Bě baghɔrɛ́ nkwɔ bǎbhɔŋ bɛsɛptimʉɛt ntá manɛ́m abhɛka. Mbák mǎnkʉ nɔ, bǎkway bɛkʉ manɛ́m abhɛka abhɛn bábhɨ́kɨ́ noko Ɛyɔŋ Mandɛm mánoko yɛ̌ bǎbhɨ́kɨ́ rɛm chí ɛnyɨŋ ntá yap.

2 Bákway mɛnoko mpok bághɔ̀ kɛnókó ɛkɛn báchyɛ̀ Mandɛm nɛ ndǔ bǎchí chak bɛsí bhi.
2 having witnessed your pure conversation {carried out} in fear;
3 Bɛrɨ ɛbhɛka bɛkɛ fú chi ndǔ mmʉɛt bɛsɔbhɛri nɛ bati bɛ́ghóko nɛ mɛnyɨŋɨ́ pú nɛ ndu bɛfyɛ bɛrɨ́tí ndɛn.
3 whose adorning let it not be that outward one of tressing of hair, and wearing gold, or putting on apparel;
4 Mɛ́mbák chí bɛrɨ̌ ɛpɨŋ ɛbhɛn bɛ́fù amɛm ntɨ, nɛ bɛbhak kpák, nɛ nɛsɛptímʉɛt mbɔnyunɛ ɛnyǔ bɛrɨ ɛbhɔ bɛpu gu manyiɛp, nɛ ɛbhɔ kɛ Mandɛm ákɔŋ tontó.
4 but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible {ornament} of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.
5 Baghɔrɛ́ abhɛn tɛsáy abhɛn bachi nyáŋá nɛ básɨ́kɨ́ ntɨ nɛ Mandɛm bághòk nyaka manɛ́m abhap nɛ ɛnyu ɛyɔ, báre fyɛ́ bɛrɨ amʉɛt.
5 For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;
6 Sará abhɔ̌ŋ nyaka ɛnyu ɛpɨŋ ɛyɔ, ambɨŋɨ nɔkɔ nnɛ́m ɛ́ywi Ábraham bɛ acha. Nɛ bǎchi bɔ̌ Sará nɛ́nɛ, mbák bǎkòŋo ɛrɨ́tí ɛpɨŋ ɛyi kɛbhɔŋ bɛcháy.
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children ye have become, doing good, and not fearing with any kind of consternation.
7 Bě manɛ́m nkwɔ, mǎnkɛ́m nɔ́kɔ́ baghɔrɛ́ bhɛka sayri, mǎnchyɛ nɔkɔ bɔ́ kɛnókó mbɔ bo abhɛn bábhɨ́kɨ́ bhɔŋ bɛtaŋ mbɔ bhe. Bě nɛ bhɔ bǎbhɔŋ nɛpɛ́m ɛnɛn Mandɛm achyɛ ɛ̌ti bɛrɨ̌ndu ɛbhi. Kʉ nɔ́kɔ́ ká nɔ bɛ yɛ̌nyɨŋ ɛkɛ chyɛt nɛnɨkɨ́mʉɛt ɛnɛka.
7 {Ye} husbands likewise, dwell with {them} according to knowledge, as with a weaker, {even} the female, vessel, giving {them} honour, as also fellow-heirs of {the} grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Ndǔ ngwɛnti, bɔ́ŋ ká nkaysi amɔt, mǎmbɔŋ nɔkɔ ntínso nɛ batɨ, mánkɔŋ batɨ bǒnkwɔ, mǎmbɔŋ bɛrɨ̌ntɨ nɛ batɨ, nɛ mǎmbɔŋ nɛsɛptímʉɛt.

9 Yɛ̌ mmu ywɛka ákɛ́ kɛmɛ bɛbʉ́ amfǎy bɛbʉ́. Mbák mu asɔk wɔ, ɔ́kɛ́ sɔk yi. Kɛ nɨkmʉɛt bɛ Mandɛm ankʉ yi bɛrɨ. Mandɛm abhɨ́ŋɨ́ wɔ́ chi bɛ ɔ́mbak nɔ bɛ́ yi anjɛt wɔ.
9 not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing {others}, because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.
10 Ɛchi mbɔ ɛnyǔ Ɛkáti Mandɛm ɛ́rɛ̀m bɛ,
10 For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
11 Mmǔ wu abhɔŋ bɛtɨknsɛm ndǔ bɛbʉ́, ándɔ́bhɛ kʉ chi bɛrɨ,
11 And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
12 Amɨ́k Mandɛm Acha áchí amʉɛt bo abhɛn bachi chak,
12 because {the} eyes of {the} Lord {are} on {the} righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but {the} face of {the} Lord {is} against them that do evil.
13 Mbák báyàŋ tontó bɛ́kʉ bɛrɨ, agha ákway mɛnɨ bhe?
13 And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which {is} good?
14 Nɛ yɛ̌ ɛmbak chi bɛ bǎbhɔ̀ŋ ɛsɔŋɔri ɛ̌ti bǎchí chak, ɛyɛka ɛ́rɨ ɛncha. Bǎkɛ chay yɛ̌ mmu, nɛ batɨ ákɛ́ sɔŋɔri be amɛm.
14 E até sereis felizes, se padecerdes alguma coisa por causa da justiça!
15 Kɛ chyɛ nɔkɔ ka Kristo kɛnókó mbɔ Acha amɛm batɨ yɛka. Tě ká mpoknkɛm bɛghati yɛ̌ agha anɛ ábhɛ̀p bhe ntí anɛ bǎbháká ntɨ nɛ Yesu. Kʉ nɔ́kɔ́ ka nɔ nɛ ɛrɨ́tí ɛyɔŋɔ́nyu, nɛ kɛnókó.
15 Portanto, não temais as suas ameaças e não vos turbeis. Antes santificai em vossos corações Cristo, o Senhor. Estai sempre prontos a responder para vossa defesa a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão de vossa esperança, mas fazei-o com suavidade e respeito.
16 Bʉrɛ́ ká batɨ yɛka pɛ́pɛ́p, bɛ mpok bo básɔ̀kɔti bhe ɛ̌ti ɛrɨ́tí ɛkakánɛkɔ ɛyɛka mbɔ bakoŋó Kristo, ntíánwɔ́p ánkɛm bɔ.
16 Tende uma consciência reta a fim de que, mesmo naquilo em que dizem mal de vós, sejam confundidos os que desacreditam o vosso santo procedimento em Cristo.
17 Ɛ́chí sayri bɛghɔ ɛsɔŋɔri ɛ̌ti ɔ́kʉ̀ bɛrɨ mbák nɔ kɛ Mandɛm áyàŋ, ɛcha bɛbhɔŋ ɛsɔŋɔri nɛ ntí bɛ ɔ̌kʉ̀ bɛbɛ́ptí mɛnyɨŋ.
17 Aliás, é melhor padecer, se Deus assim o quiser, por fazer o bem do que por fazer o mal.
18 Kristo nkwɔ aghɔ nyaka ɛsɔŋɔri, agú ɛ̌ti bɛbʉ́ bo mankɛm, ndɔŋ amɔt ndak ámáy. Anaŋa bɛtɨk ɛbhɔ, yi mmu achi chak, ɛ̌ti bo abhɛn bapu chak, bɛ́ ánsɔt bɛsɛ ntá Mandɛm. Báwáy yi, agú ndǔ nkwɔmʉɛt, kɛ ndǔ Ɛfóŋó, Mandɛm akʉ yi apɛtnsɛm ndǔ nɛpɛ́m.
18 Pois também Cristo morreu uma vez pelos nossos pecados - o Justo pelos injustos - para nos conduzir a Deus. Padeceu a morte em sua carne, mas foi vivificado quanto ao espírito.
19 Nɛ Yesu arɔk ndǔ Ɛfóŋó aghati Mbok Ndɨ́ndɨ́ ntá bɛfóŋó bo abhɛn bábhʉ́ɛ́rɛ́ ndǔ ɛtɔkɔ́ bawú mɛnoŋ manyé anɛ ngwɛnti mmɨk.
19 É neste mesmo espírito que ele foi pregar aos espíritos que eram detidos no cárcere, àqueles que outrora, nos dias de Noé, tinham sido rebeldes,
20 Nɔ chí, bɛfóŋó bo abhɛn bábhɨ́kɨ́ noko nyaka Mandɛm mpok Nóa. Mandɛm ǎnòŋ nyaka nɛ ɛkɛ́bhɛ́ntɨ bɛ bɔ́ mángúpsí batɨ yap mpok Nóa ághòko áchwí. Bǎru bho bati anɛn abhɛn bachi amɛm áchwí kɛ bápɛ́m nyaka ndu áchwí ághɔ̀k amfǎnyɛ́n.
20 quando Deus aguardava com paciência, enquanto se edificava a arca, na qual poucas pessoas, isto é, apenas oito se salvaram através da água.
21 Manyiɛbhɛ́ mɔ até ndǔ nɛjwiti ɛnɛn nɛ́pɛ̀mɛ bhe ɛchɔŋ. Nɛjwiti puyɛ̌ chi ɛnyɨŋ ɛnɛ́ ɛ́fɛ̀rɛ bo bakwap amʉɛt. Chi nku anɛ mmu ányù nɛ Mandɛm nɛ ntɨ ɛnɛn pɛ́pɛ́p. Nɛjwiti nɛ́pɛ̀mɛ mmu ɛ̌ti nɛpɛrɛ́nsɛm ɛnɛn Yesu Kristo ápɛ́rɛ́nsɛm ndǔ nɛpɛ́m.
21 Esta água prefigurava o batismo de agora, que vos salva também a vós, não pela purificação das impurezas do corpo, mas pela que consiste em pedir a Deus uma consciência boa, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.
22 Mpok ápɛ́rɛ́nsɛm ndǔ nɛpɛ́m, ákó amfay, achɔkɔ ndu ɛbhe awɔ́nɛm Mandɛm. Arɛ́, bɔángɛl, bɛfóŋó, nɛ bɛtaŋtí bɛfóŋó, nɛ mɛnyǔ bɛtaŋ mɛnkɛm bɛ́chí antɛnɛ yi.
22 Esse Jesus Cristo, tendo subido ao céu, está assentado à direita de Deus, depois de ter recebido a submissão dos anjos, dos principados e das potestades.
