¹ My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter; I say: 'My work is concerning a king'; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

¹ De boas palavras transborda o meu coração. Ao Rei consagro o que compus; a minha língua é como a pena de habilidoso escritor.

² Thou art fairer than the children of men; grace is poured upon thy lips; therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

² Tu és o mais formoso dos filhos dos homens; nos teus lábios se extravasou a graça; por isso, Deus te abençoou para sempre.

³ Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O mighty one, thy glory and thy majesty.

³ Cinge a espada no teu flanco, herói; cinge a tua glória e a tua majestade!

⁴ And in thy majesty prosper, ride on, in behalf of truth and meekness and righteousness; and let thy right hand teach thee tremendous things.

⁴ E nessa majestade cavalga prosperamente, pela causa da verdade e da justiça; e a tua destra te ensinará proezas.

⁵ Thine arrows are sharp--the peoples fall under thee-- they sink into the heart of the king's enemies.

⁵ As tuas setas são agudas, penetram o coração dos inimigos do Rei; os povos caem submissos a ti.

⁶ Thy throne given of God is for ever and ever; a sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

⁶ O teu trono, ó Deus, é para todo o sempre; cetro de equidade é o cetro do teu reino.

⁷ Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness; therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

⁷ Amas a justiça e odeias a iniquidade; por isso, Deus, o teu Deus, te ungiu com o óleo de alegria, como a nenhum dos teus companheiros.

⁸ Myrrh, and aloes, and cassia are all thy garments; out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.

⁸ Todas as tuas vestes recendem a mirra, aloés e cássia; de palácios de marfim ressoam instrumentos de cordas que te alegram.

⁹ Kings' daughters are among thy favourites; at thy right hand doth stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

⁹ Filhas de reis se encontram entre as tuas damas de honra; à tua direita está a rainha adornada de ouro finíssimo de Ofir.

¹⁰ 'Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;

¹⁰ Ouve, filha; vê, dá atenção; esquece o teu povo e a casa de teu pai.

¹¹ So shall the king desire thy beauty; for he is thy lord; and do homage unto him.

¹¹ Então, o Rei cobiçará a tua formosura; pois ele é o teu senhor; inclina-te perante ele.

¹² And, O daughter of Tyre, the richest of the people shall entreat thy favour with a gift.'

¹² A ti virá a filha de Tiro trazendo donativos; os mais ricos do povo te pedirão favores.

¹³ All glorious is the king's daughter within the palace; her raiment is of chequer work inwrought with gold.

¹³ Toda formosura é a filha do Rei no interior do palácio; a sua vestidura é recamada de ouro.

¹⁴ She shall be led unto the king on richly woven stuff; the virgins her companions in her train being brought unto thee.

¹⁴ Em roupagens bordadas conduzem-na perante o Rei; as virgens, suas companheiras que a seguem, serão trazidas à tua presença.

¹⁵ They shall be led with gladness and rejoicing; they shall enter into the king's palace.

¹⁵ Serão dirigidas com alegria e regozijo; entrarão no palácio do Rei.

¹⁶ Instead of thy fathers shall be thy sons, whom thou shalt make princes in all the land.

¹⁶ Em vez de teus pais, serão teus filhos, os quais farás príncipes por toda a terra.

¹⁷ I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the peoples praise thee for ever and ever.

¹⁷ O teu nome, eu o farei celebrado de geração a geração, e, assim, os povos te louvarão para todo o sempre.
