¹ My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter; I say: 'My work is concerning a king'; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

¹ O meu coração ferve com palavras boas, falo do que tenho feito no tocante ao Rei. A minha língua é a pena de um destro escritor.

² Thou art fairer than the children of men; grace is poured upon thy lips; therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

² Tu és mais formoso do que os filhos dos homens; a graça se derramou em teus lábios; por isso Deus te abençoou para sempre.

³ Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O mighty one, thy glory and thy majesty.

³ Cinge a tua espada à coxa, ó valente, com a tua glória e a tua majestade.

⁴ And in thy majesty prosper, ride on, in behalf of truth and meekness and righteousness; and let thy right hand teach thee tremendous things.

⁴ E neste teu esplendor cavalga prosperamente, por causa da verdade, da mansidão e da justiça; e a tua destra te ensinará coisas terríveis.

⁵ Thine arrows are sharp--the peoples fall under thee-- they sink into the heart of the king's enemies.

⁵ As tuas flechas são agudas no coração dos inimigos do rei, e por elas os povos caíram debaixo de ti.

⁶ Thy throne given of God is for ever and ever; a sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

⁶ O teu trono, ó Deus, é eterno e perpétuo; o cetro do teu reino é um cetro de eqüidade.

⁷ Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness; therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

⁷ Tu amas a justiça e odeias a impiedade; por isso Deus, o teu Deus, te ungiu com óleo de alegria mais do que a teus companheiros.

⁸ Myrrh, and aloes, and cassia are all thy garments; out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.

⁸ Todas as tuas vestes cheiram a mirra e aloés e cássia, desde os palácios de marfim de onde te alegram.

⁹ Kings' daughters are among thy favourites; at thy right hand doth stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

⁹ As filhas dos reis estavam entre as tuas ilustres mulheres; à tua direita estava a rainha ornada de finíssimo ouro de Ofir.

¹⁰ 'Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;

¹⁰ Ouve, filha, e olha, e inclina os teus ouvidos; esquece-te do teu povo e da casa do teu pai.

¹¹ So shall the king desire thy beauty; for he is thy lord; and do homage unto him.

¹¹ Então o rei se afeiçoará da tua formosura, pois ele é teu Senhor; adora-o.

¹² And, O daughter of Tyre, the richest of the people shall entreat thy favour with a gift.'

¹² E a filha de Tiro estará ali com presentes; os ricos do povo suplicarão o teu favor.

¹³ All glorious is the king's daughter within the palace; her raiment is of chequer work inwrought with gold.

¹³ A filha do rei é toda ilustre lá dentro; o seu vestido é entretecido de ouro.

¹⁴ She shall be led unto the king on richly woven stuff; the virgins her companions in her train being brought unto thee.

¹⁴ Levá-la-ão ao rei com vestidos bordados; as virgens que a acompanham a trarão a ti.

¹⁵ They shall be led with gladness and rejoicing; they shall enter into the king's palace.

¹⁵ Com alegria e regozijo as trarão; elas entrarão no palácio do rei.

¹⁶ Instead of thy fathers shall be thy sons, whom thou shalt make princes in all the land.

¹⁶ Em lugar de teus pais estarão teus filhos; deles farás príncipes sobre toda a terra.

¹⁷ I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the peoples praise thee for ever and ever.

¹⁷ Farei lembrado o teu nome de geração em geração; por isso os povos te louvarão eternamente.
