1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
1 Então respondeu Zofar, o naamatita, e disse:
2 Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, even by reason of mine agitation that is in me.
2 Portanto, meus pensamentos me fazem responder, e por isto eu tenho pressa.
3 I have heard the reproof which putteth me to shame, but out of my understanding my spirit answereth me.
3 Eu ouvi checarem a minha vergonha, e o espírito do meu entendimento me faz responder.
4 Knowest thou not this of old time, since man was placed upon earth,
4 Não sabes tu isso desde antigamente, que o homem foi posto sobre a terra,
5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?
5 que o triunfo dos perversos é breve, e a alegria dos hipócritas é só por um momento?
6 Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
6 Embora sua excelência se amontoe até os céus, e a sua cabeça alcance as nuvens;
7 Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung; they that have seen him shall say: 'Where is he?'
7 ainda assim ele perecerá para sempre como seu próprio esterco; e os que o viram dirão: Onde está ele?
8 He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found; yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
8 Ele voará para longe como um sonho, e não será achado; sim, ele será afugentado como uma visão da noite.
9 The eye which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
9 O olho que também o viu não o verá mais, nem o seu lugar o contemplará mais.
10 His children shall appease the poor, and his hands shall restore his wealth.
10 Os seus filhos buscarão agradar aos pobres, e as suas mãos restaurarão os seus bens.
11 His bones are full of his youth, but it shall lie down with him in the dust.
11 Os seus ossos estão cheios do pecado da sua juventude, que se deitará com ele no pó.
12 Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
12 Embora a maldade lhe seja doce na boca, e embora ele a esconda debaixo da sua língua;
13 Though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth;
13 embora ele a guarde, e não a abandone, mas a guarde quieta dentro de sua boca;
14 Yet his food in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
14 ainda assim, seu alimento em suas entranhas se revolve; ela é o fel de áspides dentro dele.
15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again; God shall cast them out of his belly.
15 Ele engoliu riquezas, e vomitá-las-á novamente; Deus as lançará de seu ventre.
16 He shall suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue shall slay him.
16 Ele sugará o veneno de áspides; a língua da víbora o matará.
17 He shall not look upon the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and curd.
17 Ele não verá os rios, as correntes e os ribeiros de mel e manteiga.
18 That which he laboured for shall he give back, and shall not swallow it down; according to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice.
18 Aquilo pelo que trabalhou ele restaurará, e não o engolirá; conforme o seu bem será a restituição, e ele não se regozijará nela.
19 For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; he hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.
19 Porque ele oprimiu e abandonou os pobres; porque ele violentamente tomou uma casa que não construiu;
20 Because he knew no quietness within him, in his greed he suffered nought to escape,
20 certamente ele não sentirá sossego no seu ventre; e não terá o que desejou.
21 There was nothing left that he devoured not--therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
21 Nenhuma carne para se alimentar lhe sobrará; por isso, nenhum homem procurará por seus bens.
22 In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits; the hand of every one that is in misery shall come upon him.
22 Na plenitude de sua suficiência ele estará em apuros; toda mão de ímpio virá sobre ele.
23 It shall be for the filling of his belly; He shall cast the fierceness of His wrath upon him, and shall cause it to rain upon him into his flesh.
23 Quando ele estiver prestes a encher seu ventre, Deus lançará a fúria de sua ira sobre ele, e choverá isto sobre ele enquanto estiver comendo.
24 If he flee from the iron weapon, the bow of brass shall strike him through.
24 Ele fugirá da arma de ferro, e o arco de aço o atravessará.
25 He draweth it forth, and it cometh out of his body; yea, the glittering point cometh out of his gall; terrors are upon him.
25 Ele tira do seu corpo a flecha; sai cintilante da sua bílis; terrores estão sobre ele.
26 All darkness is laid up for his treasures; a fire not blown by man shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tent.
26 Toda a escuridão será escondida em seus lugares secretos; um fogo não apagado o consumirá, e ficará enfermo com ele o que restar em seu tabernáculo.
27 The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
27 O céu revelará a sua iniquidade; e a terra se levantará contra ele.
28 The increase of his house shall depart, his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
28 O acréscimo de sua casa partirá, e seus bens se desfarão no dia de sua ira.
29 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
29 Esta é a porção do homem perverso, da parte de Deus, e a herança designada a ele por Deus.
