2 having witnessed your pure conversation {carried out} in fear;
3 ሂንቴ፥ ሂንቴ ሁዔ ፒፆኒኔ ዎርቃ ኣሶን ዎይኮ ሎዖ ማዖን ሂንቴ ቦላ ኣሳቴ ሎይሶን ጊዶፖ።
3 whose adorning let it not be that outward one of tressing of hair, and wearing gold, or putting on apparel;
4 ሺን ሂንቴ ዎዛና ጊዶን ዴዒያ ዬጌልሳቴይ ፆሳ ሲንን ሂንቴው ዳሮ ኣልዖ ጊዲዲ ዮና፥ ኣሽኬኔ ዎፑ ጊዳ ኣያና ጊዶ።
4 but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible {ornament} of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.
5 ፆሳይ ኢማና ጊዳይሳ ኣማኒዳ ጌሻ ማጫሳቲ ቢኒ ዎዴ ባንታ ኣዚናታስ ሃሬቲዲ፥ ባንታና ሄሳዳ ዳሮ ሎይዶሶና።
5 For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;
6 ሄሳዳ ሳራ ኣብራሃሜ፥ «ታ ጎዳው» ያጋዳ ፄጋሼ፥ ኢያው ኪቴታሱ፤ ሂንቴካ ኣይኮካ ያዮና ሎዖባ ኦኮ ኢ ናይታ።
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children ye have become, doing good, and not fearing with any kind of consternation.
7 ኣዚናቶ፥ ሂንቴ ማቼቲ ሂንቴፌ ዳቡራንቾ ሜታ ጊዴይሳ ኤሪዲ፥ ኤንታና ቦንቺቴ፤ ሂንቴ ዎሳ ቦና ሜላ ፆሳይ ኢሚዳ ዴዑዋ ኤንቲ ሂንቴራ ኢሲፌ ላቲያ ጊሾ ኤንታ ቦንቺቴ።
7 {Ye} husbands likewise, dwell with {them} according to knowledge, as with a weaker, {even} the female, vessel, giving {them} honour, as also fellow-heirs of {the} grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
8 ዉርሴን፥ ኡባይ ኢሲ ቆፋን ዴዒቴ። ኢሶይ ኢሱዋስ ቃቲሼ፥ ኢሻዳ ሲቄቲቴ፤ ቃሲ ኢሶይ ኢሱዋስ ኬሃታኔ ኣሽኬታ ጊዲቴ።

9 ኢታ ጊሾስ ኢታ ዎይኮ ጫሻ ጊሾ ጫዪዲ ዛሮፒቴ፤ ሄሳ ኣጊዲ፥ ፆሳይ ሂንቴው ኣንጁዋ ኢማናው ሂንቴና ፄጊዳ ጊሾ ኣንጂቴ።
9 not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing {others}, because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.
10 ኣይስ ጊኮ፥ ጌሻ ማፃፋይ፥
10 For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
11 ኢታባ ኦይሳ ኣጊዲ ሎዖባ ኦ፤
11 And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
12 ጎዳ ኣይፌይ ፂሎታኮ ፄሌስ፤
12 because {the} eyes of {the} Lord {are} on {the} righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but {the} face of {the} Lord {is} against them that do evil.
13 ሂንቴ ሎዖባ ኦናው ኣሞቲኮ ሂንቴና ቆሃናይ ኦኔ?
13 And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which {is} good?
14 ሃሪ ኣቶሺን፥ ፂሎቴ ጊሾ ሂንቴ ዋዬቲኮ ኣንጄቲዳይሳታ። ኣሳስ ያዮፊቴኔ ሂርጎፊቴ።
14 E até sereis felizes, se padecerdes alguma coisa por causa da justiça!
15 ኪሪስቶሳ ሂንቴ ዎዛናን ቦንቺቴኔ ጎዳዪቴ። ፆሳይ ሂንቴው ኢሚዳ ኡፋይሳስ ጋሶ ኦይቺያ ኦዴስካ ዛሮ ኢማናው ኡባ ዎዴ ጊጊ ኡቲቴ፥ ሺን ሄሳ ኣሽኬቴኒኔ ያሻን ኦቴ።
15 Portanto, não temais as suas ameaças e não vos turbeis. Antes santificai em vossos corações Cristo, o Senhor. Estai sempre prontos a responder para vossa defesa a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão de vossa esperança, mas fazei-o com suavidade e respeito.
16 ቃሲ ኪሪስቶሳን ሂንቴ ዴዒያ ሎዖ ዴዑዋ ኢታባ ኦዳባዳ፥ ሂንቴና ጫያ ኣሳይ ዚጊርያባን ዬላታና ሜላ ሂንቴ ካሃይ ጌሺ ጊዶ።
16 Tende uma consciência reta a fim de que, mesmo naquilo em que dizem mal de vós, sejam confundidos os que desacreditam o vosso santo procedimento em Cristo.
17 ፆሳይ ጊዳባ ጊዲኮ ኢታባ ኦዳ ጊሾ ዋዬ ኤኬይሳፌ ሎዖባ ኦዳ ጊሾ ዋዬ ኤኬይሲ ሎዖ።
17 Aliás, é melhor padecer, se Deus assim o quiser, por fazer o bem do que por fazer o mal.
18 ኪሪስቶሲ ኑና ፆሳኮ ሺሻናው ባው ፂሎ ጊዲዲ ዴዒሼ፥ ናጋራንቾታ ጊሾ ኢሲ ቶሆ ናጋራ ኡባስ ሃይቂስ፤ ኢ ባ ኣሳቴን ሃይቂስ፥ ሺን ኣያናን ፓፂስ።
18 Pois também Cristo morreu uma vez pelos nossos pecados - o Justo pelos injustos - para nos conduzir a Deus. Padeceu a morte em sua carne, mas foi vivificado quanto ao espírito.
19 ቃሲ ሄ ኣያናን ኢ ቢዲ ቃሾን ዴዒያ ሼምፖታስ ቃላ ኦዲስ።
19 É neste mesmo espírito que ele foi pregar aos espíritos que eram detidos no cárcere, àqueles que outrora, nos dias de Noé, tinham sido rebeldes,
20 ኖሄይ ማርካቢያ ኬፂያ ዎዴ ሄ ሼምፖቲ ፆሳስ ኪቴቶና ኢፂዶሶና፥ ሺን ፆሳይ ኤንታና ዳንዳዒስ። ሆስፑን ኣሳ ፃላሊ ማርካቢያን ጌሊዲ፥ ዮ ሃፌ ኣቲዶሶና።
20 quando Deus aguardava com paciência, enquanto se edificava a arca, na qual poucas pessoas, isto é, apenas oito se salvaram através da água.
21 ሄ ዮ ሃይ ሃዒ ሂንቴና ኣሺያ ፂንቃቴ ሌሚሶ ጊዲስ። ሃ ፂንቃቴይ ቦላ ቂታ ሜጮ ጊዶናሺን ሎዖ ካሃ ፆሳፌ ኤካናው ኢያ ዎሲያ ኦጌ ጊዲዲ፥ ኪሪስቶሳ ዴንዱዋ ባጋራ ሂንቴና ኣሼስ።
21 Esta água prefigurava o batismo de agora, que vos salva também a vós, não pela purificação das impurezas do corpo, mas pela que consiste em pedir a Deus uma consciência boa, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.
22 ኢ ሳሎ ቢዲ ፆሳ ኡሻቻን ኡቲዲ፥ ኪታንቾታ፥ ማታ ኣዋታኔ ዎልቃማታ ሃሬስ።
22 Esse Jesus Cristo, tendo subido ao céu, está assentado à direita de Deus, depois de ter recebido a submissão dos anjos, dos principados e das potestades.
