¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. Deliuer me, O Lord, from the euill man: preserue me from the cruel man:

¹ Senhor , livra-me dos maus; protege-me dos homens violentos,

² Which imagine euill things in their heart, and make warre continually.

² que planejam o mal em seu coração e vivem provocando conflitos.

³ They haue sharpened their tongues like a serpent: adders poyson is vnder their lips. Selah.

³ Aguçam a língua como a serpente; sob os lábios têm veneno de víbora.

⁴ Keepe mee, O Lord, from the handes of the wicked: preserue mee from the cruell man, which purposeth to cause my steppes to slide.

⁴ Guarda-me, Senhor , das mãos dos ímpios, protege-me dos homens violentos, que se empenham por me desviar os passos.

⁵ The proude haue layde a snare for me, and spred a nette with cordes in my pathway, and set grennes for me. Selah.

⁵ Os soberbos ocultaram armadilhas e cordas contra mim, estenderam uma rede à beira do caminho; armaram ciladas contra mim.

⁶ Therefore I saide vnto the Lord, Thou art my God: heare, O Lord, the voyce of my prayers.

⁶ Digo ao Senhor : “Tu és o meu Deus.” Escuta, a voz das minhas súplicas.

⁷ O Lord God the strength of my saluation, thou hast couered mine head in the day of battel.

⁷ Ó Senhor Deus, força da minha salvação, tu me protegeste a cabeça no dia da batalha.

⁸ Let not the wicked haue his desire, O Lord: performe not his wicked thought, least they be proude. Selah.

⁸ Não concedas, Senhor , aos ímpios os seus desejos; não permitas que sejam bem-sucedidos os seus maus propósitos.

⁹ As for the chiefe of them, that compasse me about, let the mischiefe of their owne lippes come vpon them.

⁹ Se exaltam a cabeça os que me cercam, que a maldade dos seus lábios caia sobre eles.

¹⁰ Let coles fal vpon them: let him cast them into the fire, and into the deepe pits, that they rise not.

¹⁰ Caiam sobre eles brasas vivas, sejam atirados ao fogo, lançados em abismos para que não mais se levantem.

¹¹ For the backbiter shall not be established vpon the earth: euill shall hunt the cruell man to destruction.

¹¹ O caluniador não se estabelecerá na terra; ao homem violento, o mal o perseguirá com golpe sobre golpe.

¹² I know that the Lord will auenge the afflicted, and iudge the poore.

¹² Sei que o Senhor defenderá a causa do oprimido e o direito do necessitado.

¹³ Surely the righteous shall prayse thy Name, and the iust shall dwell in thy presence.

¹³ Assim, os justos renderão graças ao teu nome; os retos habitarão na tua presença.
