¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. Deliuer me, O Lord, from the euill man: preserue me from the cruel man:

¹ Livra-me, ó Senhor , do homem mau; guarda-me do homem violento;

² Which imagine euill things in their heart, and make warre continually.

² os quais pensam o mal no coração; continuamente se ajuntam para a guerra.

³ They haue sharpened their tongues like a serpent: adders poyson is vnder their lips. Selah.

³ Aguçaram a língua como a serpente; o veneno das víboras está debaixo dos seus lábios. (Selá)

⁴ Keepe mee, O Lord, from the handes of the wicked: preserue mee from the cruell man, which purposeth to cause my steppes to slide.

⁴ Guarda-me, ó Senhor , das mãos do ímpio e guarda-me do homem violento, os quais se propuseram desviar os meus passos.

⁵ The proude haue layde a snare for me, and spred a nette with cordes in my pathway, and set grennes for me. Selah.

⁵ Os soberbos armaram-me laços e cordas; estenderam a rede à beira do caminho; armaram-me laços corrediços. (Selá)

⁶ Therefore I saide vnto the Lord, Thou art my God: heare, O Lord, the voyce of my prayers.

⁶ Eu disse ao Senhor : tu és o meu Deus; ouve a voz das minhas súplicas, ó Senhor .

⁷ O Lord God the strength of my saluation, thou hast couered mine head in the day of battel.

⁷ Senhor Deus, fortaleza da minha salvação, tu cobriste a minha cabeça no dia da batalha.

⁸ Let not the wicked haue his desire, O Lord: performe not his wicked thought, least they be proude. Selah.

⁸ Não cumpras, ó Senhor , ao ímpio os seus desejos; não deixes ir por diante o seu mau propósito, para que não se exalte. (Selá)

⁹ As for the chiefe of them, that compasse me about, let the mischiefe of their owne lippes come vpon them.

⁹ Quanto aos que, cercando-me, levantam a cabeça, cubra-os a maldade dos seus lábios.

¹⁰ Let coles fal vpon them: let him cast them into the fire, and into the deepe pits, that they rise not.

¹⁰ Caiam sobre eles brasas vivas, sejam lançados no fogo em covas profundas, para que se não tornem a levantar.

¹¹ For the backbiter shall not be established vpon the earth: euill shall hunt the cruell man to destruction.

¹¹ Não terá firmeza na terra o homem de má língua; o mal perseguirá o homem violento, até que seja desterrado.

¹² I know that the Lord will auenge the afflicted, and iudge the poore.

¹² Sei que o Senhor sustentará a causa do oprimido e o direito do necessitado.

¹³ Surely the righteous shall prayse thy Name, and the iust shall dwell in thy presence.

¹³ Assim, os justos louvarão o teu nome; os retos habitarão na tua presença.
