1 Bee yee therefore followers of God, as deare children,
1 Vocês são filhos queridos de Deus e por isso devem ser como ele.
2 And walke in loue, euen as Christ hath loued vs, and hath giuen himselfe for vs, to be an offering and a sacrifice of a sweete smellling sauour to God.
2 Que a vida de vocês seja dominada pelo amor, assim como Cristo nos amou e deu a sua vida por nós, como uma oferta de perfume agradável e como um sacrifício que agrada a Deus!
3 But fornication, and all vncleannesse, or couetousnesse, let it not be once named among you, as it becommeth Saintes,
3 Vocês fazem parte do povo de Deus; portanto, qualquer tipo de imoralidade sexual, indecência ou cobiça não pode ser nem mesmo assunto de conversa entre vocês.
4 Neither filthinesse, neither foolish talking, neither iesting, which are things not comely, but rather giuing of thankes.
4 Não usem palavras indecentes, nem digam coisas tolas ou sujas, pois isso não convém a vocês. Pelo contrário, digam palavras de gratidão a Deus.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, neither vncleane person, nor couetous person, which is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdome of Christ, and of God.
5 Fiquem certos disto: jamais receberá uma parte no Reino de Cristo e de Deus qualquer pessoa que seja imoral, indecente ou cobiçosa (pois a cobiça é um tipo de idolatria).
6 Let no man deceiue you with vaine wordes: for, for such thinges commeth the wrath of God vpon the children of disobedience.
6 Não deixem que ninguém engane vocês com conversas tolas, pois é por causa dessas coisas que o castigo de Deus cairá sobre os que não obedecem a ele.
7 Be not therefore companions with them.
7 Portanto, não tenham nada a ver com esse tipo de gente.
8 For ye were once darkenesse, but are nowe light in the Lord: walke as children of light,
8 Antigamente vocês mesmos viviam na escuridão; mas, agora que pertencem ao Senhor, vocês estão na luz. Por isso vivam como pessoas que pertencem à luz,
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in al goodnes, and righteousnes, and trueth)
9 pois a luz produz uma grande colheita de todo tipo de bondade, honestidade e verdade.
10 Approuing that which is pleasing to the Lord.
10 Procurem descobrir quais são as coisas que agradam o Senhor.
11 And haue no fellowship with ye vnfruitfull works of darknes, but euen reproue them rather.
11 Não participem das coisas sem valor que os outros fazem, coisas que pertencem à escuridão. Pelo contrário, tragam todas essas coisas para a luz.
12 For it is shame euen to speake of the things which are done of them in secret.
12 Pois é vergonhoso até falar sobre o que essas pessoas fazem em segredo.
13 But all thinges when they are reproued of the light, are manifest: for it is light that maketh all things manifest.
13 E, quando qualquer coisa é trazida para a luz, então a sua verdadeira natureza é revelada.
14 Wherefore hee sayeth, Awake thou that sleepest, and stande vp from the deade, and Christ shall giue thee light.
14 Porque o que é claramente revelado se torna luz. E é por isso que se diz: “Você que está dormindo, acorde! Levante-se da morte, e Cristo o iluminará.”
15 Take heede therefore that yee walke circumspectly, not as fooles, but as wise,
15 Portanto, prestem atenção na sua maneira de viver. Não vivam como os ignorantes, mas como os sábios.
16 Redeeming ye season: for ye daies are euill.
16 Os dias em que vivemos são maus; por isso aproveitem bem todas as oportunidades que vocês têm.
17 Wherefore, be ye not vnwise, but vnderstand what the will of the Lord is.
17 Não ajam como pessoas sem juízo, mas procurem entender o que o Senhor quer que vocês façam.
18 And be not drunke with wine, wherein is excesse: but be fulfilled with the Spirit,
18 Não se embriaguem, pois a bebida levará vocês à desgraça; mas encham-se do Espírito de Deus.
19 Speaking vnto your selues in psalmes, and hymnes, and spirituall songs, singing, and making melodie to the Lord in your hearts,
19 Animem uns aos outros com salmos, hinos e canções espirituais. Cantem, de todo o coração, hinos e salmos ao Senhor.
20 Giuing thankes alwaies for all thinges vnto God euen the Father, in the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ,
20 Em nome do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, agradeçam sempre todas as coisas a Deus, o Pai.
21 Submitting your selues one to another in the feare of God.
21 Sejam obedientes uns aos outros, pelo respeito que têm por Cristo.
22 Wiues, submit your selues vnto your husbands, as vnto the Lord.
22 Esposa, obedeça ao seu marido, como você obedece ao Senhor.
23 For the husband is the wiues head, euen as Christ is the head of the Church, and the same is the sauiour of his body.
23 Pois o marido tem autoridade sobre a esposa, assim como Cristo tem autoridade sobre a Igreja. E o próprio Cristo é o Salvador da Igreja, que é o seu corpo.
24 Therfore as the Church is in subiection to Christ, euen so let the wiues be to their husbands in euery thing.
24 Portanto, assim como a Igreja é obediente a Cristo, assim também a esposa deve obedecer em tudo ao seu marido.
25 Husbands, loue your wiues, euen as Christ loued the Church, and gaue himselfe for it,
25 Marido, ame a sua esposa, assim como Cristo amou a Igreja e deu a sua vida por ela.
26 That hee might sanctifie it, and clense it by the washing of water through the worde,
26 Ele fez isso para dedicar a Igreja a Deus, lavando-a com água e purificando-a com a sua palavra.
27 That hee might make it vnto him selfe a glorious Church, not hauing spot or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it shoulde bee holy and without blame.
27 E fez isso para também poder trazer para perto de si a Igreja em toda a sua beleza, pura e perfeita, sem manchas, ou rugas, ou qualquer outro defeito.
28 So ought men to loue their wiues, as their owne bodies: he that loueth his wife, loueth him selfe.
28 O homem deve amar a sua esposa assim como ama o seu próprio corpo. O homem que ama a sua esposa ama a si mesmo.
29 For no man euer yet hated his owne flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, euen as the Lord doeth the Church.
29 Porque ninguém odeia o seu próprio corpo. Pelo contrário, cada um alimenta e cuida do seu corpo, como Cristo faz com a Igreja,
30 For we are members of his bodie, of his flesh, and of his bones.
30 pois nós somos membros do corpo de Cristo.
31 For this cause shall a man leaue father and mother, and shall cleaue to his wife, and they twaine shalbe one flesh.
31 Como dizem as Escrituras Sagradas : “É por isso que o homem deixa o seu pai e a sua mãe para se unir com a sua esposa, e os dois se tornam uma só pessoa.”
32 This is a great secrete, but I speake concerning Christ, and concerning the Church.
32 Há uma verdade imensa revelada nessa passagem das Escrituras, e eu entendo que ela está falando a respeito de Cristo e da Igreja.
33 Therefore euery one of you, doe ye so: let euery one loue his wife, euen as himselfe, and let the wife see that shee feare her husband.
33 Mas também está falando a respeito de vocês: cada marido deve amar a sua esposa como ama a si mesmo, e cada esposa deve respeitar o seu marido.
