1 BUT I would that you know, my brethren, that all our fathers were under the cloud,
1 Ora, irmãos, não quero que vocês ignorem que os nossos pais estiveram todos sob a nuvem, e todos passaram pelo mar,
2 and all of them in the sea were baptized, and all by
2 e todos, em Moisés, foram batizados, tanto na nuvem como no mar.
3 Musha were baptized in the cloud and in the sea, and all of them ate one spiritual food, and all of them drank one spiritual drink;
3 Todos eles comeram do mesmo alimento espiritual
4 for they drank of that spiritual Rock which went with them,-but that Rock was the Meshiha himself.
4 e beberam da mesma bebida espiritual. Porque bebiam de uma pedra espiritual que os seguia; e a pedra era Cristo.
5 But not with many of them was Aloha pleased; for they fell in the desert.
5 Mas Deus não se agradou da maioria deles, razão pela qual ficaram prostrados no deserto.
6 But these became an example for us; that we should not desire evils, as they desired;
6 Ora, estas coisas se tornaram exemplos para nós, a fim de que não cobicemos as coisas más, como eles cobiçaram.
7 nor also be servers of idols, as some of them served; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play;
7 Não sejam idólatras, como alguns deles foram, conforme está escrito: “O povo assentou-se para comer e beber e levantou-se para se divertir.”
8 nor commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell, in one day, twenty and three thousand;
8 E não pratiquemos imoralidade, como alguns deles o fizeram e caíram mortos, num só dia, vinte e três mil.
9 nor tempt the Meshiha, as also (some) of them tempted, and perished by serpents.
9 Não ponhamos Cristo à prova, como alguns deles fizeram e foram mortos pelas serpentes.
10 Neither murmur you, as some of them murmured, and perished by the hand of the destroyer.
10 Não fiquem murmurando, como alguns deles murmuraram e foram destruídos pelo exterminador.
11 For all these which happened to them were unto us an example, and were written for our instruction, upon whom come the ends of the world.
11 Estas coisas aconteceram com eles para servir de exemplo e foram escritas como advertência a nós, para quem o fim dos tempos tem chegado.
12 Whoever then thinketh he standeth, let him beware that he fall not.
12 Por isso, aquele que pensa estar em pé veja que não caia.
13 Temptation cometh not (upon) you but what cometh on mankind; but faithful is Aloha, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you are able, but will make to your temptation a departure, that you may be able to endure.
13 Não sobreveio a vocês nenhuma tentação que não fosse humana; mas Deus é fiel e não permitirá que vocês sejam tentados além do que podem suportar; pelo contrário, juntamente com a tentação proverá livramento, para que vocês a possam suportar.
14 WHEREFORE, my beloved, flee from the worship of idols.
14 Portanto, meus amados, fujam da idolatria.
15 As to the wise I speak; judge what I say.
15 Falo como a pessoas sábias; julguem vocês mesmos o que digo.
16 The cup of thanksgiving which we bless, is it not the participation of the blood of the Meshiha? And the bread that we break, is it not the participation of the body of the Meshiha?
16 Não é fato que o cálice da bênção que abençoamos é a comunhão do sangue de Cristo? E não é fato que o pão que partimos é a comunhão do corpo de Cristo?
17 As, then, one is that bread, so are we one body: for all we that one bread receive.
17 Porque nós, embora muitos, somos unicamente um pão, um só corpo; porque todos participamos do único pão.
18 Consider Israel who are in the flesh: are not they who eat of the sacrifices participators of the altar?
18 Considerem o Israel segundo a carne. Não é verdade que aqueles que se alimentam dos sacrifícios são participantes do altar?
19 What then do I say? that an idol is any thing, or (that) the sacrifice of an idol is any thing?
19 O que quero dizer com isto? Que o que é sacrificado ao ídolo é alguma coisa? Ou que o próprio ídolo tem algum valor?
20 No: but that which the Heathens sacrifice, unto demons they sacrifice, and not unto Aloha. But I would not that you be participators with demons!
20 Não! Digo que as coisas que eles sacrificam são sacrificadas a demônios e não a Deus; e eu não quero que vocês estejam em comunhão com os demônios.
21 You cannot drink the cup of our Lord, and the cup of demons; and you cannot participate in the table of our Lord, and in the table of demons.
21 Vocês não podem beber o cálice do Senhor e o cálice dos demônios; não podem ser participantes da mesa do Senhor e da mesa dos demônios.
22 Or, do we provoke the Lord? are we stronger than he?
22 Ou provocaremos ciúmes no Senhor? Somos, por acaso, mais fortes do que ele?
23 Every thing is lawful for me, but every thing is not expedient; every thing is lawful, but every thing doth not edify.
23 “Todas as coisas são lícitas”, mas nem todas convêm; “todas as coisas são lícitas”, mas nem todas edificam.
24 Let no man seek his own (only), but every man also (the profit) of his neighbour.
24 Ninguém busque o seu próprio interesse, e sim o de seu próximo.
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles eat, without inquiry on account of conscience:
25 Comam de tudo o que se vende no mercado, sem questionamento algum por motivo de consciência.
26 for the earth is the Lord's, and its fulness.
26 Porque do Senhor é a terra e a sua plenitude.
27 But if a man of the Heathens invite you, and you be willing to go, whatever is set before you eat, without inquiry on account of conscience.
27 Se alguém que não é crente convidá-los para comer, e vocês quiserem ir, comam de tudo o que for posto diante de vocês, sem questionamento algum por motivo de consciência.
28 But, if one tell you, This is of a sacrifice, eat not, for his sake who hath told you, and on account of conscience;
28 Porém, se alguém disser a vocês: “Isto é coisa sacrificada a ídolo”, não comam, por causa daquele que deu a informação e por motivo de consciência;
29 but I say, the conscience, not yours, but his who told you. But why is my liberty to be ruled by the conscience of others?
29 consciência, digo, não a sua propriamente, mas a do outro. “Pois, por que a minha liberdade deve ser julgada pela consciência de outra pessoa?
30 But if I use (these things) by grace, why am I calumniated concerning that for which I give thanks?
30 Se eu participo com gratidão, por que sou criticado por causa daquilo por que dou graças?”
31 Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of Aloha.
31 Portanto, se vocês comem, ou bebem ou fazem qualquer outra coisa, façam tudo para a glória de Deus.
32 Give no offence to Jihudoyee, or to Aramoyee, or to the church of Aloha.
32 Não se tornem motivo de tropeço nem para judeus, nem para gentios, nem para a igreja de Deus,
33 As also I in every thing please all men, not seeking what is expedient for myself, but what is expedient for the many, that they may be saved.
33 assim como também eu procuro, em tudo, ser agradável a todos, não buscando o meu próprio interesse, mas o de muitos, para que sejam salvos.
