1 Also Job added, taking his parable, and said, (And Job added again to his parable, and said,)
1 Jó prosseguiu sua fala:
2 Who giveth to me, that I be beside the eld months, by the days in which God kept me? (Who giveth to me, that once more I be, like in the months gone by, yea, those days in which God looked after me?)
2 "Como tenho saudade dos meses que se passaram, dos dias em que Deus cuidava de mim,
3 When his lantern shined on mine head, and I went in darknesses at his light. (When his lamp shone above my head, and I walked through the darkness by his light.)
3 quando a sua lâmpada brilhava sobre a minha cabeça e por sua luz eu caminhava em meio às trevas!
4 As I was in the days of my youth, when in private God was in my tabernacle (or when privately, \+em or secretly\+em*, God was in, or watched over, my tent, \+em or my home\+em*).
4 Como tenho saudade dos dias do meu vigor, quando a amizade de Deus abençoava a minha casa,
5 When Almighty God was with me, and my children were in my compass (or and my children were all about me);
5 quando o Todo-poderoso ainda estava comigo e meus filhos estavam ao meu redor,
6 when I washed my feet in butter, and the stone shedded out to me the streams of oil; [when I washed my feet with butter, and the stone poured \+sls (out)\+sls* to me \+sls (or poured out for me)\+sls* rivers of oil;]
6 quando as minhas veredas se embebiam em nata e a rocha me despejava torrentes de azeite.
7 when I went forth to the gate of the city, and in the street they made ready a chair to me (or and in the street they prepared a chair for me).
7 "Quando eu ia à porta da cidade e tomava assento na praça pública;
8 Young wanton men saw me, and were hid, and eld men rising up stood (or and old men rose, and stood up \+em to honour me\+em*);
8 quando, ao me verem, os jovens saíam do caminho, e os idosos ficavam de pé;
9 princes ceased to speak, and they putted their finger on their mouth; (leaders ceased to speak, and they covered their mouths with their hands;)
9 os líderes se abstinham de falar e com a mão cobriam a boca.
10 dukes refrained their voice, and their tongue cleaved to their throat. (rulers refrained their voices, and their tongues cleaved to the roofs of their mouths.)
10 As vozes dos nobres silenciavam, e suas línguas colavam-se ao céu da boca.
11 The ear that heard me, blessed me, and the eye that saw me, yielded witnessing to me (or bare witness for me or testified for me);
11 Todos os que me ouviam falavam bem de mim, e quem me via me elogiava,
12 for I delivered the poor man crying [out], and the fatherless child, that had no helper. (for I saved the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless child who had no helper.)
12 pois eu socorria o pobre que clamava por ajuda, e o órfão que não tinha quem o ajudasse.
13 The blessing of a man (who was ready) to perish came (up)on me, and I comforted the heart of the widow.
13 O que estava à beira da morte me abençoava, e eu fazia regozijar-se o coração da viúva.
14 I was clothed with rightfulness; and I clothed me as with a cloth, and with my doom a diadem. (I was clothed in righteousness, yea, it covered me; and my judgement was like a cloak or robe, and a crown.)
14 A retidão era a minha roupa; a justiça era o meu manto e o meu turbante.
15 I was eye to a blind man, and foot to a crooked man. (I was an eye for the blind, and feet for the lame.)
15 Eu era os olhos do cego e os pés do aleijado.
16 I was a father of poor men; and I inquired most diligently the cause, which I knew not. (I was a father to the poor; and I inquired most diligently into their case, \+em or their trouble\+em*, of which I knew not.)
16 Eu era o pai dos necessitados, e me interessava pela defesa de desconhecidos.
17 I all-brake the great teeth of the wicked man (or I broke the teeth of the wicked), and I took away the prey from his teeth.
17 Eu quebrava as presas dos ímpios e dos seus dentes arrancava as suas vítimas.
18 And I said, I shall die in my nest; and as a palm tree I shall multiply my days. (And I said, I shall die in my nest; and my days shall be numbered like the sand or like the phoenix.)
18 "Eu pensava: ‘Morrerei em casa, e os meus dias serão numerosos como os grãos de areia.
19 My root is opened beside (the) waters, and dew shall dwell in my reaping (or and dew shall stay on my branches).
19 Minhas raízes chegarão até as águas, e o orvalho passará a noite nos meus ramos.
20 My glory shall ever[more] be renewed (or My glory shall be renewed forevermore), and my bow shall be restored in mine hand.
20 Minha glória se renovará em mim, e novo será o meu arco em minha mão’.
21 They, that heard me, abided my sentence; and they were attentive, or taking heed to me, and they were still at my counsel. (They, who heard me, waited for my pronouncement; and they were attentive, or taking heed \+em to me\+em*, and they listened to what I said.)
21 "Os homens me escutavam em ansiosa expectativa, aguardando em silêncio o meu conselho.
22 They durst nothing add to my words (or They dared add nothing to my words); and my speech dropped upon them.
22 Depois que eu falava, eles nada diziam; minhas palavras caíam suavemente em seus ouvidos.
23 They abided me as (for the) rain; and they opened their mouth as to the soft rain coming late. (They waited for my words like for \+em they waited for\+em* the rain; and they opened their mouths to drink them in, like the soft rain that cometh late.)
23 Esperavam por mim como quem espera por uma chuvarada, e bebiam minhas palavras como quem bebe a chuva da primavera.
24 If any time I laughed to them, they believed not; and the light of my cheer, that is, the gladness of my face, felled not down into the earth. (When I smiled on them, they took heart; and the light of my face, \+em that is, the cheerfulness in my face towards them\+em*, encouraged them.)
24 Quando eu lhes sorria, mal acreditavam; a luz do meu rosto lhes era preciosa.
25 If I would go to them, I sat the first; and when I sat as [a] king, while the host stood about, nevertheless I was [the] comforter of them that mourned. (When I went to them, I was the first to sit; and when I sat like a king, while his army stood all around, I was the comforter of those who mourned.)
25 Era eu que escolhia o caminho para eles, e me assentava como seu líder; instalava-me como um rei no meio das suas tropas; eu era como um consolador dos que choram.
