1 Also Job added, taking his parable, and said, (And Job added again to his parable, and said,)
1 Jó continuou em sua fala, dizendo:
2 Who giveth to me, that I be beside the eld months, by the days in which God kept me? (Who giveth to me, that once more I be, like in the months gone by, yea, those days in which God looked after me?)
2 “Ah! Quem me dera ser como fui nos meses passados, como nos dias em que Deus cuidava de mim!
3 When his lantern shined on mine head, and I went in darknesses at his light. (When his lamp shone above my head, and I walked through the darkness by his light.)
3 Quando Deus fazia resplandecer a sua lâmpada sobre a minha cabeça, quando eu, guiado por sua luz, caminhava na escuridão.
4 As I was in the days of my youth, when in private God was in my tabernacle (or when privately, \+em or secretly\+em*, God was in, or watched over, my tent, \+em or my home\+em*).
4 Quem me dera ser como fui nos dias do meu vigor, quando a amizade de Deus estava sobre a minha tenda,
5 When Almighty God was with me, and my children were in my compass (or and my children were all about me);
5 quando o Todo-Poderoso ainda estava comigo, e os meus filhos estavam ao meu redor,
6 when I washed my feet in butter, and the stone shedded out to me the streams of oil; [when I washed my feet with butter, and the stone poured \+sls (out)\+sls* to me \+sls (or poured out for me)\+sls* rivers of oil;]
6 quando eu lavava os meus pés em leite, e da rocha me corriam rios de azeite.
7 when I went forth to the gate of the city, and in the street they made ready a chair to me (or and in the street they prepared a chair for me).
7 Quando eu me dirigia até o portão da cidade e mandava preparar o meu assento na praça,
8 Young wanton men saw me, and were hid, and eld men rising up stood (or and old men rose, and stood up \+em to honour me\+em*);
8 os moços me viam e se retiravam, e os idosos se levantavam e ficavam em pé.
9 princes ceased to speak, and they putted their finger on their mouth; (leaders ceased to speak, and they covered their mouths with their hands;)
9 Os príncipes reprimiam as suas palavras e punham a mão sobre a boca.
10 dukes refrained their voice, and their tongue cleaved to their throat. (rulers refrained their voices, and their tongues cleaved to the roofs of their mouths.)
10 A voz dos nobres emudecia, e a língua deles se apegava ao céu da boca.”
11 The ear that heard me, blessed me, and the eye that saw me, yielded witnessing to me (or bare witness for me or testified for me);
11 “O ouvido que me ouvia dizia que eu era feliz; o olho que me via dava testemunho de mim,
12 for I delivered the poor man crying [out], and the fatherless child, that had no helper. (for I saved the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless child who had no helper.)
12 porque eu livrava os pobres que pediam ajuda e também o órfão que não tinha quem o socorresse.
13 The blessing of a man (who was ready) to perish came (up)on me, and I comforted the heart of the widow.
13 A bênção do que estava prestes a perecer vinha sobre mim, e eu fazia o coração da viúva cantar de alegria.
14 I was clothed with rightfulness; and I clothed me as with a cloth, and with my doom a diadem. (I was clothed in righteousness, yea, it covered me; and my judgement was like a cloak or robe, and a crown.)
14 Eu me cobria de retidão, e ela me servia de roupa; a minha justiça era como um manto e um turbante.
15 I was eye to a blind man, and foot to a crooked man. (I was an eye for the blind, and feet for the lame.)
15 Eu era os olhos do cego e os pés do aleijado.
16 I was a father of poor men; and I inquired most diligently the cause, which I knew not. (I was a father to the poor; and I inquired most diligently into their case, \+em or their trouble\+em*, of which I knew not.)
16 Era pai dos necessitados e até as causas dos desconhecidos eu examinava.
17 I all-brake the great teeth of the wicked man (or I broke the teeth of the wicked), and I took away the prey from his teeth.
17 Eu quebrava os queixos dos iníquos e arrancava as vítimas dos dentes deles.”
18 And I said, I shall die in my nest; and as a palm tree I shall multiply my days. (And I said, I shall die in my nest; and my days shall be numbered like the sand or like the phoenix.)
18 “Eu dizia: ‘Vou morrer no meu ninho, e multiplicarei os meus dias como a areia.
19 My root is opened beside (the) waters, and dew shall dwell in my reaping (or and dew shall stay on my branches).
19 As minhas raízes se estenderão até as águas, e o orvalho ficará durante a noite sobre os meus ramos.
20 My glory shall ever[more] be renewed (or My glory shall be renewed forevermore), and my bow shall be restored in mine hand.
20 A minha honra se renovará em mim, e o meu arco se reforçará na minha mão.’”
21 They, that heard me, abided my sentence; and they were attentive, or taking heed to me, and they were still at my counsel. (They, who heard me, waited for my pronouncement; and they were attentive, or taking heed \+em to me\+em*, and they listened to what I said.)
21 “Os que me ouviam esperavam o meu conselho e guardavam silêncio para ouvi-lo.
22 They durst nothing add to my words (or They dared add nothing to my words); and my speech dropped upon them.
22 Depois que eu falava, não diziam nada; as minhas palavras caíam sobre eles como orvalho.
23 They abided me as (for the) rain; and they opened their mouth as to the soft rain coming late. (They waited for my words like for \+em they waited for\+em* the rain; and they opened their mouths to drink them in, like the soft rain that cometh late.)
23 Esperavam-me como se espera a chuva, abriam a boca como para absorver a chuva fora de época.
24 If any time I laughed to them, they believed not; and the light of my cheer, that is, the gladness of my face, felled not down into the earth. (When I smiled on them, they took heart; and the light of my face, \+em that is, the cheerfulness in my face towards them\+em*, encouraged them.)
24 Quando eu sorria para eles, nem acreditavam; e a luz do meu rosto eles não desprezavam.
25 If I would go to them, I sat the first; and when I sat as [a] king, while the host stood about, nevertheless I was [the] comforter of them that mourned. (When I went to them, I was the first to sit; and when I sat like a king, while his army stood all around, I was the comforter of those who mourned.)
25 Eu escolhia o caminho para eles, assentava-me como chefe e vivia como rei entre as suas tropas; eu era como quem consola os que pranteiam.”
