1 After these things Paul went out of Athens, and came to Corinth.
1 Depois disso, deixando Atenas, Paulo foi a Corinto.
2 And he found a man, a Jew, Aquila by name, of Pontus by kind, that (of) late came from Italy, and Priscilla, his wife, for that Claudius commanded all Jews to depart from Rome; and he came to them.
2 Lá, encontrou um judeu chamado Áquila, natural do Ponto, recentemente chegado da Itália, com Priscila, sua mulher, porque o imperador Cláudio havia decretado que todos os judeus deviam sair de Roma. Paulo aproximou-se deles.
3 And for that he was of the same craft, he dwelled with them, and wrought; and they were of rope-makers craft, [or soothly they were of tent-makers craft, that is, to make coverings to \+sls (or for)\+sls* travelling men].
3 E, como tinham o mesmo ofício, passou a morar com eles e ali trabalhava. O ofício deles era fazer tendas.
4 And he disputed in the synagogue by each sabbath, putting among (them) the name of the Lord Jesus; and he counselled (the) Jews and Greeks.
4 E todos os sábados Paulo falava na sinagoga, persuadindo tanto judeus como gregos.
5 And when Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul gave busyness to the word, and witnessed to the Jews, that Jesus is Christ, (or and testified to the Jews, that Jesus is the Messiah).
5 Quando Silas e Timóteo chegaram da Macedônia, Paulo se entregou totalmente à palavra, testemunhando aos judeus que Jesus é o Cristo.
6 But when they gainsaid and blasphemed, he shook away his clothes, [or he shook off his clothes], (or he shook out his clothes), and said to them, Your blood be on your head; I shall be clean from henceforth, and I shall go to (the) heathen men (or to the Gentiles).
6 Como eles se opuseram e blasfemaram, Paulo sacudiu as roupas e disse-lhes: — Que o sangue de vocês caia sobre a cabeça de vocês! Eu estou limpo dele e, a partir de agora, vou para os gentios.
7 And he passed from thence, and entered into the house of a just man, Titus by name, that worshipped God, whose house was joined to the synagogue.
7 Saindo dali, entrou na casa de um homem chamado Tício Justo, que era temente a Deus; a casa dele ficava ao lado da sinagoga.
8 And Crispus, (the) prince of the synagogue, believed to the Lord, with all his house. And many of the Corinthians heard, and believed, and were christened. (And Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, with all his house. And many of the Corinthians heard, and believed, and were baptized.)
8 Crispo, o chefe da sinagoga, creu no Senhor, com toda a sua casa; também muitos dos coríntios, ouvindo, creram e foram batizados.
9 And the Lord said by night to Paul by a vision, Do not thou dread, but speak, and be not still; (And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, Do not fear, or Fear not, but continue to speak, and do not be silent;)
9 Certa noite Paulo teve uma visão em que o Senhor lhe disse:
10 for I am with thee, and no man shall be put to thee to harm thee, for much people is to me in this city (or for many people be with me in this city).
10 porque eu estou com você, e ninguém ousará lhe fazer mal, pois tenho muito povo nesta cidade.
11 And he dwelled there a year and six months, teaching among them the word of God.
11 Assim, Paulo permaneceu em Corinto um ano e seis meses, ensinando entre eles a palavra de Deus.
12 But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, [the] Jews rose up with one will against Paul, and led him to the doom (place), (or and led him to the seat of judgement or the court),
12 Quando Gálio era procônsul da Acaia, os judeus, de comum acordo, se levantaram contra Paulo e o levaram ao tribunal,
13 and said, Against the law this (man) counseleth men to worship God.
13 dizendo: — Este homem quer persuadir as pessoas a adorar a Deus de um modo contrário à lei.
14 And when Paul began to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If there were any wicked thing, either evil trespass [or worst trespass], ye Jews, rightly I should suffer you, (or certainly I would allow you to present your case);
14 Quando Paulo ia falar, Gálio disse aos judeus: — Se fosse, de fato, alguma injustiça ou crime de maior gravidade, ó judeus, eu teria motivo para acolher a queixa que vocês estão trazendo.
15 but if questions be of the word, and of (the) names of your law, busy yourselves [or ye yourselves see]; I will not be doomsman of these things (or I will not be the judge of these matters).
15 Mas como é uma questão de palavras, de nomes e da própria lei de vocês, resolvam isso vocês mesmos; eu não quero ser juiz dessas coisas!
16 And he drove them from the doom place.
16 E os expulsou do tribunal.
17 And all took Sosthenes, (the) prince of the synagogue, and smote him before the doom place; and nothing of these was to care to Gallio. (And all the people took hold of Sosthenes, the leader of the synagogue, and beat him there in front of the seat of judgement or the court; but none of this was of any concern to Gallio.)
17 Então todos agarraram Sóstenes, o chefe da sinagoga, e começaram a espancá-lo diante do tribunal; Gálio, todavia, não se incomodava com estas coisas.
18 And when Paul had abided many days, he said farewell to (the) brethren, and by boat came to Syria. And Priscilla and Aquila came with him, which had clipped his head in Cenchrea; for he had a vow.
18 Paulo ficou ainda muitos dias em Corinto. Por fim, despedindo-se dos irmãos, navegou para a Síria, levando em sua companhia Priscila e Áquila. Antes de embarcar, rapou a cabeça em Cencreia, porque tinha feito um voto.
19 And he came to Ephesus, and there he left them (or and he departed from them there); and he went into the synagogue, and disputed with (the) Jews.
19 Quando chegaram a Éfeso, Paulo deixou ali Priscila e Áquila. Ele, porém, entrando na sinagoga, pregava aos judeus.
20 And when they prayed (him), that he should dwell more time (there), he consented not, (And when they beseeched him, that he would spend more time there, he would not agree to it,)
20 Pediram-lhe que ficasse mais algum tempo, mas Paulo não quis.
21 but he made farewell to (the) brethren, and said, [It behooveth me to make the solemn day coming at Jerusalem, and \+sls (then)\+sls*] again I shall turn again to you, (or and then I shall return to you), if God will [or God willing]; and he went forth from Ephesus.
21 Ao se despedir, disse: — Se Deus quiser, virei visitá-los outra vez. E, embarcando, partiu de Éfeso.
22 And he came down to Caesarea, and he went up, and greeted the church, and came down to Antioch.
22 Chegando a Cesareia, foi logo para Jerusalém. E, tendo saudado a igreja, seguiu para Antioquia.
23 And when he had dwelled there somewhat of time, he went forth, walking by row [or walking by order] through the country of Galatia, and (then) Phrygia, and confirmed all the disciples.
23 Havendo passado ali algum tempo, saiu, atravessando sucessivamente a região da Galácia e Frígia, fortalecendo todos os discípulos.
24 But a Jew, Apollos by name, a man of Alexandria of kind, a man eloquent (or an eloquent man), came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in (the) scriptures.
24 Nesse meio-tempo, chegou a Éfeso um judeu, natural de Alexandria, chamado Apolo, homem eloquente e poderoso nas Escrituras.
25 This man was taught the way of the Lord, and was fervent in spirit, and spake, and taught diligently those things that were of Jesus, and knew only the baptism of John (or but he only knew of the baptism by John).
25 Ele era instruído no caminho do Senhor; e, sendo fervoroso de espírito, falava e ensinava com precisão a respeito de Jesus, conhecendo apenas o batismo de João.
26 And this man began to do trustily in the synagogue. Whom when Priscilla and Aquila heard, they took him, and more diligently expounded to him the way of the Lord.
26 Apolo começou a falar ousadamente na sinagoga. Quando Priscila e Áquila o ouviram falar, levaram-no consigo e, com mais exatidão, lhe expuseram o caminho de Deus.
27 And when he would go to Achaia, (the) brethren (were) excited, [or \+sls (the)\+sls* brethren admonished, or counselled], and wrote to the disciples, that they should receive him; which when he came, gave much to them that believed.
27 Quando ele resolveu percorrer a Acaia, os irmãos o animaram e escreveram aos discípulos para que o recebessem bem. Tendo chegado, Apolo auxiliou muito aqueles que, mediante a graça, haviam crido;
28 For he greatly overcame (the) Jews, and showed openly by (the) scriptures, that Jesus is Christ (or that Jesus is the Messiah).
28 porque, com grande poder, convencia publicamente os judeus, provando, por meio das Escrituras, que Jesus é o Cristo.
