1 Therefore, most dearworthy brethren, we that have these promises, cleanse we us from all (the) filth of the flesh and of the spirit, doing holiness in the dread of God, (or being holy in the fear of God, or with reverence for God).
1 Meus queridos amigos, todas essas promessas são para nós. Por isso purifiquemos a nós mesmos de tudo o que torna impuro o nosso corpo e a nossa alma. E, temendo a Deus , vivamos uma vida completamente dedicada a ele.
2 Take ye us; we have hurt no man, we have impaired no man [or we have corrupted no man], we have beguiled no man.
2 Deem um lugar para nós no coração de vocês. Nós não prejudicamos ninguém, não causamos a desgraça de ninguém e não procuramos tirar vantagem de ninguém.
3 I say not to your condemning; for I said before, that ye be in our hearts, to die together and to live together.
3 Não digo isso para condenar vocês. Pois, como eu disse antes, vocês são tão amados por nós, que estamos sempre juntos, tanto para morrer como para viver.
4 Much trust is to me with you, much glorying is to me for you. I am [full-]filled with comfort, I am plenteous in joy [or I abound in joy] in all our tribulation.
4 Tenho muita confiança em vocês e me orgulho de vocês. No meio de todas as nossas aflições, eu continuo muito animado e cheio de alegria.
5 For when we were come to Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we suffered all tribulation; withoutforth fightings, and dreads within (or and fears within).

6 But God that comforteth meek men, comforted us in the coming of Titus.

7 And not only in the coming of him, but also in the comfort by which he was comforted in you, telling to us your desire, your weeping, your love for me, so that I joyed (all the) more.
7 E não foi somente a chegada dele que nos animou, mas também a informação dada por ele de que vocês o animaram. Ele contou que vocês estão com saudade de mim e disse que estão muito tristes e estão prontos para me defender. Por isso agora estou mais feliz ainda.
8 For though I made you sorry, in an epistle, it rueth me not; though it rued, [I] seeing that though that epistle made you sorry at an hour, (For though I made you sorrowful, by my letter, I do not regret it now; and though I did regret it, I seeing that though that letter made you sorrowful for a time,)
8 Não me arrependo de ter escrito aquela carta , embora vocês tenham ficado tristes por causa dela. Quando soube que a carta os deixou tristes por algum tempo, eu poderia ter ficado arrependido.
9 now I have joy; not for ye were made sorrowful, but for ye were made sorrowful to penance. For why ye be made sorry after God, that in nothing ye suffer impairment of us. (now I have joy; not for ye were made sorrowful, but for ye were made sorrowful unto repentance. For ye were made sorrowful by God, and ye did not suffer any impairment or any harm from us.)
9 Mas agora estou alegre, não porque vocês ficaram tristes, mas porque aquela tristeza fez com que vocês se arrependessem. Aquela tristeza foi usada por Deus, e assim nós não causamos nenhum mal a vocês.
10 For the sorrow that is after God, worketh penance into steadfast health; but sorrow of the world worketh death. (For the sorrow that is from God, worketh repentance unto certain salvation; but the sorrow of the world worketh death.)
10 Pois a tristeza que é usada por Deus produz o arrependimento que leva à salvação; e nisso não há motivo para alguém ficar triste. Mas as tristezas deste mundo produzem a morte.
11 For lo! this same thing, that ye be sorrowful after God, how much busyness it worketh in you; but defending, but indignation, but dread (or but fear), but desire, but love, but vengeance. In all things ye have given yourselves to be undefouled in the cause.
11 Vocês suportaram a tristeza da maneira que agrada a Deus. E vejam agora os resultados: isso fez com que vocês levassem a sério o assunto e resolvessem se defender. Fez também com que vocês ficassem zangados e com medo. Depois ficaram com vontade de me ver e resolveram castigar o culpado. Em tudo isso vocês mostraram que não tiveram nenhuma culpa naquele caso.
12 Therefore though I wrote to you, I wrote not for him that did the injury, neither for him that suffered, but to show our busyness (or our zeal), which we have for you before God.
12 Portanto, embora tivesse escrito aquela carta, eu não a escrevi por causa de quem ofendeu , nem por causa da pessoa que foi ofendida. Pelo contrário, escrevi a carta para tornar claro a vocês que Deus sabe do grande cuidado que vocês têm por nós.
13 Therefore we be comforted, but in your comfort more plenteously [or but in our comfort more plenteously] we joyed more on the joy of Titus, for his spirit is fulfilled of all you. (And so we were comforted by your comfort, or And so we were encouraged, yea our own encouragement was great, but we rejoiced even more abundantly over Titus’ joy, for his spirit was filled full by all of you.)
13 Foi por isso que ficamos animados. Além do ânimo que recebemos, ficamos mais contentes ainda vendo a alegria de Tito; pois todos vocês o têm ajudado a sentir-se bem.
14 And if I gloried anything with him of you, I am not confounded, [or shamed]; but as we have spoken to you all things [in truth], so also our glory that was at Titus, is made truth. (And if I have boasted of anything about you to him, I am not ashamed; for as we have spoken to you everything in truth, so also our boasting about you to Titus, is shown to be true.)
14 Eu havia falado muito bem de vocês a ele, e vocês não me desapontaram. Temos sempre dito a verdade a vocês. Assim também é verdadeiro o elogio que fizemos a Tito a respeito de vocês.
15 And the inwardness of him be more plenteously in you, which hath in mind the obedience of you all, how with dread and trembling ye received him. (And his inward affection for you hath grown more plentiful, when he hath remembered all of your obedience, and how with fear and trembling ye received him.)
15 E o amor dele por vocês cresce cada vez mais quando ele lembra como vocês todos estavam prontos para obedecer e como o receberam com humildade e respeito.
16 I have joy, that in all things I trust in you (or I trust you).
16 Estou alegre por poder confiar completamente em vocês.
