GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs ACF
1 In the spring, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, his mercenaries, and Israel’s army ⌞to war⌟. They destroyed the Ammonites and attacked Rabbah, while David stayed in Jerusalem.
1 E aconteceu que, tendo decorrido um ano, no tempo em que os reis saem à guerra, enviou Davi a Joabe, e com ele os seus servos, e a todo o Israel; e eles destruíram os filhos de Amom, e cercaram a Rabá; porém Davi ficou em Jerusalém.
2 Now, when evening came, David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the royal palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing, and she was very pretty.
2 E aconteceu que numa tarde Davi se levantou do seu leito, e andava passeando no terraço da casa real, e viu do terraço a uma mulher que se estava lavando; e era esta mulher mui formosa à vista.
3 David sent someone to ask about the woman. The man said, “She’s Bathsheba, daughter of Eliam and wife of Uriah the Hittite.”
3 E mandou Davi indagar quem era aquela mulher; e disseram: Porventura não é esta Bate-Seba, filha de Eliã, mulher de Urias, o heteu?
4 So David sent messengers and took her. She came to him, and he went to bed with her. (She had just cleansed herself after her monthly period.) Then she went home.
4 Então enviou Davi mensageiros, e mandou trazê-la; e ela veio, e ele se deitou com ela (pois já estava purificada da sua imundícia); então voltou ela para sua casa.
5 The woman had become pregnant. So she sent someone to tell David that she was pregnant.
5 E a mulher concebeu; e mandou dizer a Davi: Estou grávida.
6 Then David sent a messenger to Joab, saying, “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” So Joab sent Uriah to David.
6 Então Davi mandou dizer a Joabe: Envia-me Urias, o heteu. E Joabe enviou Urias a Davi.
7 When Uriah arrived, David asked him how Joab and the troops were and how the war was going.
7 Vindo, pois, Urias a ele, perguntou Davi como passava Joabe, e como estava o povo, e como ia a guerra.
8 “Go home,” David said to Uriah, “and wash your feet.” Uriah left the royal palace, and the king sent a present to him.
8 Depois disse Davi a Urias: Desce à tua casa, e lava os teus pés. E, saindo Urias da casa real, logo lhe foi mandado um presente da mesa do rei.
9 But Uriah slept at the entrance of the royal palace among his superior’s mercenaries. He didn’t go home.
9 Porém Urias se deitou à porta da casa real, com todos os servos do seu senhor; e não desceu à sua casa.
10 When they told David, “Uriah didn’t go home,” David asked Uriah, “Didn’t you just come from a journey? Why didn’t you go home?”
10 E fizeram saber isto a Davi, dizendo: Urias não desceu a sua casa. Então disse Davi à Urias: Não vens tu duma jornada? Por que não desceste à tua casa?
11 Uriah answered David, “The ark and ⌞the army of⌟ Israel and Judah are in temporary shelters, and my commander Joab and Your Majesty’s mercenaries are living in the field. Should I then go to my house to eat and drink and go to bed with my wife? I solemnly swear, as sure as you’re living, I won’t do this!”
11 E disse Urias a Davi: A arca, e Israel, e Judá ficaram em tendas; e Joabe, meu senhor, e os servos de meu senhor estão acampados no campo; e hei de eu entrar na minha casa, para comer e beber, e para me deitar com minha mulher? Pela tua vida, e pela vida da tua alma, não farei tal coisa.
12 David said to Uriah, “Then stay here today, and tomorrow I’ll send you back.” So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day and the next.
12 Então disse Davi a Urias: Demora-te aqui ainda hoje, e amanhã te despedirei. Urias, pois, ficou em Jerusalém aquele dia e o seguinte.
13 David summoned him, ate and drank with him, and got him drunk. But that evening Uriah went to lie down on his bed among his superior’s mercenaries. He didn’t go home.
13 E Davi o convidou, e comeu e bebeu diante dele, e o embebedou; e à tarde saiu a deitar-se na sua cama com os servos de seu senhor; porém não desceu à sua casa.
14 In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah.
14 E sucedeu que pela manhã Davi escreveu uma carta a Joabe; e mandou-lha por mão de Urias.
15 In the letter he wrote, “Put Uriah on the front line where the fighting is heaviest. Then abandon him so that he’ll be struck down and die.”
15 Escreveu na carta, dizendo: Ponde a Urias na frente da maior força da peleja; e retirai-vos de detrás dele, para que seja ferido e morra.
16 Since Joab had kept the city under observation, he put Uriah at the place where he knew the experienced warriors were.
16 Aconteceu, pois, que, tendo Joabe observado bem a cidade, pôs a Urias no lugar onde sabia que havia homens valentes.
17 The men of the city came out and fought Joab. Some of the people, namely, some of David’s mercenaries, fell and died—including Uriah the Hittite.
17 E, saindo os homens da cidade, e pelejando com Joabe, caíram alguns do povo, dos servos de Davi; e morreu também Urias, o heteu.
18 Then Joab sent ⌞a messenger⌟ to report to David all the details of the battle.
18 Então enviou Joabe, e fez saber a Davi todo o sucesso daquela peleja.
19 And he commanded the messenger, “When you finish telling the king about the battle,
19 E deu ordem ao mensageiro, dizendo: Acabando tu de contar ao rei todo o sucesso desta peleja,
20 the king may become angry. He might ask you, ‘Why did you go so close to the city to fight? Didn’t you know they would shoot from the wall?
20 E sucedendo que o rei se encolerize, e te diga: Por que vos chegastes tão perto da cidade a pelejar? Não sabíeis vós que haviam de atirar do muro?
21 Who killed Jerubbesheth’s son Abimelech? Didn’t a woman on the wall of Thebez throw a small millstone at him and kill him? Why did you go so close to the wall?’ If the king asks this, then say, ‘Your man Uriah the Hittite is also dead.’ ”
21 Quem feriu a Abimeleque, filho de Jerubesete? Não lançou uma mulher sobre ele do muro um pedaço de uma mó corredora, de que morreu em Tebes? Por que vos chegastes ao muro? Então dirás: Também morreu teu servo Urias, o heteu.
22 The messenger left, and when he arrived, he reported to David everything Joab told him to say.
22 E foi o mensageiro, e entrou, e fez saber a Davi tudo o que Joabe o enviara a dizer.
23 The messenger said, “Their men overpowered us and came to attack us in the field. Then we forced them back to the entrance of the city gate.
23 E disse o mensageiro a Davi: Na verdade que mais poderosos foram aqueles homens do que nós, e saíram a nós ao campo; porém nós fomos contra eles, até à entrada da porta.
24 The archers on the wall shot down at your mercenaries, and some of Your Majesty’s mercenaries died. Your man Uriah the Hittite also is dead.”
24 Então os flecheiros atiraram contra os teus servos desde o alto do muro, e morreram alguns dos servos do rei; e também morreu o teu servo Urias, o heteu.
25 David said to the messenger, “This is what you are to say to Joab, ‘Don’t let this thing trouble you, because a sword can kill one person as easily as another. Strengthen your attack against the city, and destroy it.’ Say this to encourage him.”
25 E disse Davi ao mensageiro: Assim dirás a Joabe: Não te pareça isto mal aos teus olhos; pois a espada tanto consome este como aquele; esforça a tua peleja contra a cidade, e a derrota; esforça-o tu assim.
26 When Uriah’s wife heard that her husband Uriah was dead, she mourned for him.
26 Ouvindo, pois, a mulher de Urias que seu marido era morto, lamentou a seu senhor.
27 When her mourning was over, David sent for her and brought her to his home, and she became his wife. Then she gave birth to a son. But the Lord considered David’s actions evil.
27 E, passado o luto, enviou Davi, e a recolheu em sua casa, e lhe foi por mulher, e deu-lhe à luz um filho. Porém esta coisa que Davi fez pareceu mal aos olhos do Senhor.
